Sirach 24

1 Wisdom will praise her own mind, and she will be honored by God, and she will be glorified in the midst of her people.	1 La sapienza si farà il suo elogio, e si darà onore in Dio, e si glorierà in mezzo al popolo di lui.
2 And she will open her mouth in the churches of the Most High, and she will be glorified in the sight of his virtue.	2 Ella aprirà la sua bocca nelle adunanze dell'Altissimo, e si glorificherà al cospetto delle schiere di lui.
3 And in the midst of her own people, she will be exalted. And she will be admired by the holy assembly.	3 Ella sarà esaltata in mezzo al suo popolo, e nella piena congregazione de' santi sarà ammirata.
4 And she will have praise within the multitude of the elect. And she will be blessed among the blessed. And she will say:	4 E laude riscuoterà dalla moltitudine degli eletti, e trai benedetti sarà ella pur benedetta, e dirà:
5 “I went forth from the mouth of the Most High, as the first-born before all creatures.	5 Io uscii dalla bocca dell'Altissimo primogenita avanti a tutte le creature;
6 I caused an unfailing light to arise in the heavens. And I covered all the earth like a cloud.	6 Io feci nascer nel cielo una luce, che mai vien meno, e quasi con nebbia ricopersi tutta la terra:
7 I lived in the highest places, and my throne is in the pillar of a cloud.	7 Negli altissimi cieli io posi mia stanza, e il mio trono sopra una colonna di nubi.
8 I alone have encompassed the circuit of heaven, and have penetrated to the depths of the abyss, and have walked upon the waves of the sea,	8 Io sola feci tutto il giro del cielo, e penetrai nell'abisso profondo, camminai su' flutti del mare.
9 and have stood upon the whole earth. And among every people,	9 E in ogni parte della terra posai il mio piede;
10 and in every nation, I have held primacy.	10 E di tutti i popoli, e di tutte le genti ebbi l'impero:
11 And by virtue, I have tread upon the hearts of all, the great and the lowly. And I have sought my rest in all of them. And I will continue, as the inheritance of the Lord.	11 E de' grandi tutti, e dei piccoli soggiogai i cuori con mia possanza, e tra tutti questi cercai dove posarmi, e fisserò mia dimora nell'eredità del Signore.
12 Then the Creator of all things instructed and spoke with me. And the One who created me rested in my tabernacle.	12 Allora il Creatore di tutte le cose ordinò, e parlò a me, e quegli, che mi creò stabilì il mio tabernacolo;
13 And he said to me: ‘Let your dwelling place be with Jacob, and let your inheritance be in Israel, for you shall take root among my elect.’	13 E mi disse: abita con Giacobbe, e tuo retaggio sia Israele, e tue radici getta ne' miei eletti.
14 From the beginning, and before the world, I was created. And even unto the future world, I will not cease to exist. For I have ministered before him in the holy habitation.	14 Da principio, e prima de' secoli io fui creata, e per tutto il futuro secolo io sarò sempre, e nel tabernacolo santo esercitai il mio ministero dinanzi a lui.
15 And in this way, I was established in Zion. And likewise, in the holy city, I found rest. And my authority was in Jerusalem.	15 Così ferma stanza io ebbi in Sionne, ed anche la santa città fu il luogo del mio riposo, e in Gerusalemme fu la mia reggia.
16 And I took root among an honorable people, within the portion of my God, within his inheritance. And so my abode is in the full assembly of the saints.	16 E gettai mie radici in un popolo glorioso, e nella porzione del mio Dio, la quale o il suo retaggio, e la mia abitazione fu nella piena adunanza de' santi.
17 I was exalted like a cedar in Lebanon and like a cypress on Mount Zion.	17 Mi alzai qual cedro sul Libano, e qual cipresso sul monte di Sion:
18 I was exalted like a palm tree in Kadesh and like a rose bush in Jericho.	18 Stesi i miei rami come una palma di Cades, e come una pianta di rose in Gerico.
19 I was exalted like a beautiful olive tree in the plains, and like a sycamore tree beside the waters along a wide road.	19 Mi innalzai come un bell'ulivo ne' campi, e come platano nelle piazze presso delle acque.
20 I gave off an aromatic fragrance like cinnamon or balsam. I produced a sweet odor like the best myrrh.	20 Qual di cinnamomo, e di balsamo aromatico spirai odore, soave odore spirai come di mirra eletta.
21 And I perfumed my dwelling place with sweet gum, and aromatic resin, and flower petals, and aloe, as well as the finest cedar from Lebanon. And my fragrance is like undiluted balsam.	21 E riempici la mia abitazione di odoriferi vapori come di storace, di galbano, e di oniche, e di lagrima, e di incenso non espresso per incisione, e il mio odore è come il balsamo non misturato.
22 I have extended my branches like a terebinth tree, and my branches are of honor and grace.	22 Io distesi i miei rami qual terebinto, e i miei rami son pieni di onore, e di grazia.
23 Like the vine, I have born the fruit of a sweet fragrance. And my flowers are the fruit of honor and integrity.	23 Io come la vite gettai fiori di odor soave, e i miei fiori sono frutti di gloria, e di ricchezza.
24 I am the mother of the beauty of love, and of fear, and of knowledge, and of holy hope.	24 Io madre del bell'amore, e del timore, e della scienza, e della santa speranza.
25 All grace of the way and of the truth is in me. All hope of life and of virtue is in me.	25 In me ogni grazia (per conoscer) la via della verità: in me ogni speranza di vita, e di virtù.
26 Journey toward me, all you who desire me, and be filled by my harvest.	26 Venite a me voi tutti, voi, che siete presi dall'amore di me; e saziatevi de' miei frutti;
27 For my spirit is sweeter than honey, and my inheritance is better than honey and the honeycomb.	27 Perocché dolce è il mio spirito più del miele, e la mia eredità più del favo del miele:
28 My memory is for the generations of all ages.	28 Memoria di me si farà per tutta la serie de' secoli.
29 Whoever consumes me will hunger still. And whoever drinks me will thirst still.	29 Color, che mi mangiano, hanno sempre fame, e color che mi bevono han sempre sete.
30 Whoever listens to me will not be confounded. And whoever acts in me will not sin.	30 Chi ascolta me, non avrà mai da arrossire, e quelli, che per me operano, non peccheranno.
31 Whoever elucidates me will have eternal life.”	31 Coloro che mi illustrano, avranno la vita eterna.
32 All this is a book of life, and a covenant of the Most High, and an acknowledgement of truth.	32 Tutte queste cose contiene il libro della vita, che è il testamento dell'Altissimo, e dottrina di verità.
33 Moses commanded the law by the precepts of justice, and an inheritance to the house of Jacob, and the promises to Israel.	33 Mosè intimò la legge della giustizia, eredità della casa di Giacobbe colle promesse fatte ad Israele.
34 God appointed David as his servant, in order to raise up from him a most mighty King, who would sit upon the throne of honor forever.	34 Dio promise a Davidde suo servo di far nascere da lui il Re fortissimo, che dee sedere sopra trono di gloria in sempiterno.
35 It is he who fulfills wisdom, like the Phison river and the Tigris river in the first days.	35 Il quale di sapienza ridonda come il Phison, e come il Tigri nella stagione de' nuovi frutti.
36 It is he who fulfills understanding, like the river Euphrates. It is he who multiplies understanding, like the river Jordan in the time of the harvest.	36 Egli spande una piena di intelligenza come l'Eufrate, e più, e più cresce come il Giordano in tempo di mietitura.
37 He sends forth discipline like the light, and he stands forth like the river Gehon in the time of the vintage.	37 Egli la scienza sparge come la luce, e allaga come il Gehon nel tempo della vendemmia.
38 He first had perfect knowledge of her, for a weaker one would not search for her.	38 Egli il primo la ha conosciuta perfettamente; e chi è men forte non la comprende.
39 For her thoughts abound like the sea, and her counsels abound like the great abyss.	39 Imperocché più del mare sono vasti i suoi pensieri, e i suoi consigli son più profondi del grande abisso.
40 “I, wisdom, have poured forth rivers.	40 Io la sapienza versai de' fiumi.
41 I am like a brook leading to a river of immense waters. I am like a channel flowing from a river. And I went forth from Paradise like an aqueduct.	41 Io come canale di acqua immensa derivata dal fiume; e come una diramazione dal fiume, e come un condotto di acque sgorgai dal paradiso:
42 I said: I will irrigate my garden of plantings, and I will thoroughly water the fruits of my field.	42 Io dissi: Innaffierò il giardino delle mie piante, e darò acqua a sazietà ai frutti del mio prato.
43 And behold, my brook became overflowing, and my river drew near to the sea.	43 Ed ecco che il mio canale o divenuto assai gonfio, e il mio fiume sta per essere un mare;
44 For I illuminate doctrine to all, like the first light. And I will announce doctrine, even to those who are far away.	44 Perocché come (fa) la luce del mattino, tal è il lume della dottrina, che io porgo a tutti, e seguiterò ad esporre fino a' tempi rimoti.
45 I will reach to all the lower parts of the earth, and I will gaze upon all who sleep, and I will illuminate all who hope in the Lord.	45 Penetrerò in tutte le ime parti della terra, getterò lo sguardo su tutti i dormienti, e illuminerò tutti quelli, che sperano nel Signore.
46 Even now, I pour forth doctrine like prophecy. And even now, I bequeath doctrine to those who seek wisdom. And I will not cease from their progeny, even unto the holy time.	46 Io tuttora spanderò dottrina come profezia, e la lascerò a quelli, che cercano la sapienza, e non cesserò di annunziarla a tutta la loro posterità fino al secolo santo.
47 See how I have not labored for myself alone, but for all who are seeking truth!”	47 Osservate come io non per me solo ho lavorato, ma per tutti quelli, che vano in cerca della verità.
