Psalms 138

1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David. O Lord, you have examined me, and you have known me.	1 Signore, tu m' hai provato e cognosciuto;
2 You have known my sitting down and my rising up again.	2 tu hai conosciuto la mia sessione e la resurrezione mia.
3 You have understood my thoughts from afar. My path and my fate, you have investigated.	3 Dalla lunga hai inteso li pensieri miei; il mio sentiero e la particella mia hai cercato.
4 And you have foreseen all my ways. For there is no word in my tongue.	4 E hai preveduto tutte le vie mie; per che non è parlare nella lingua mia.
5 Behold, O Lord, you have known all things: the newest and the very old. You have formed me, and you have placed your hand over me.	5 Ecco, Signore, che tu hai cognosciuto le ultime e antique; tu m' hai formato, e sopra di me posto la mano tua
6 Your knowledge has become a wonder to me. It has been reinforced, and I am not able to prevail against it.	6 A me fatta è mirabile la scienza tua; ell'è confortata, e non potrò contra quella.
7 Where will I go from your Spirit? And where will I flee from your face?	7 Dal spirito tuo dove andarò? e dove fuggirò dalla faccia tua?
8 If I ascend into heaven, you are there. If I descend into Hell, you are near.	8 Se salirò nel cielo, tu sei ivi; se descenderò all' inferno, sarai presente.
9 If I assume my feathers in early morning, and dwell in the utmost parts of the sea,	9 Se per tempo torrò le penne mie, e abitarò nelli ultimi luoghi del mare;
10 even there, your hand will lead me forth, and your right hand will hold me.	10 e certo la mano tua ivi mi menarà; e la tua destra mi tenerà.
11 And I said: Perhaps darkness will overwhelm me, and the night will be my illumination, to my delight.	11 E dissi forse che le tenebre mi conculcaranno; e la notte sarà mia illuminazione in le delicie mie.
12 But darkness will not be impenetrable to you, and night will illuminate like the day: for just as its darkness is, so also is its light.	12 Per che le tenebre non [si] oscuriranno da te, e la notte illuminarassi come giorno; come sono le tenebre sue, così è il lume suo.
13 For you have possessed my temperament. You have supported me from the womb of my mother.	13 Per che possedesti le reni mie; ricevestimi dal ventre della madre mia.
14 I will confess to you, for you have been magnified terribly. Your works are miraculous, as my soul knows exceedingly well.	14 A te confessarò, per che terribilmente magnificato sei; e l' anima mia molto cognosce le mirabili opere tue.
15 My bone, which you have made in secret, has not been hidden from you, and my substance is in accord with the lower parts of the earth.	15 Da te non è nascosto l'osso mio, che 'l facesti in secreto; è nelli inferiori della terra la sostanza mia.
16 Your eyes saw my imperfection, and all this shall be written in your book. Days will be formed, and no one shall be in them.	16 Gli occhi tuoi videro il mio imperfetto; e nel libro tuo tutti saranno scritti; formaransi li giorni, e nullo in essi.
17 But to me, O God, your friends have been greatly honored. Their first ruler has been exceedingly strengthened.	17 Da me molto sono onorificati, Iddio, li amici tuoi; molto è confortato loro principato.
18 I will number them, and they will be more numerous than the sand. I rose up, and I am still with you.	18 Annumerarolli, e moltiplicaranno sopra l'arena; sommi resuscitato, e ancora son teco.
19 O God, if only you would cut down sinners. You men of blood: depart from me.	19 Se tu, Iddio, arai ucciso li peccatori; uomini omicidiali, partitevi da me.
20 For you say in thought: They will accept your cities in vain.	20 Per che voi dite nel pensiero: torranno nella vanità loro città.
21 Have I not hated those who hated you, Lord, and wasted away because of your enemies?	21 Signore, non avea in odio coloro che ti odiavano, e dolevami sopra li nemici tuoi?
22 I have hated them with a perfect hatred, and they have become enemies to me.	22 Con perfetto odio aveali odiati; e a me sono fatti nemici.
23 Examine me, O God, and know my heart. Question me, and know my paths.	23 Provami, Signore, e saprai il cuore mio; addimanda me, e cognosci le mie vestigie.
24 And see if there might be in me the way of iniquity, and lead me in the way of eternity.	24 E vedi, se in me egli è la via della iniquità; e menami nella via eterna.
