1 But the Lord, answering Job out of the whirlwind, said:	1 Allora Dio parlò di nuovo a Giobbe dal turbine, e disse:
2 Gird your waist like a man. I will question you, and you must answer me.	2 « Cingiti da uomo forte i fianchi, io t'interrogherò e tu rispondimi.
3 Will you make my judgment null and void; and will you condemn me so that you may be justified?	3 Renderai tu vano il mio giudizio e condannerai me per giustificar te stesso?
4 And do you have an arm like God, or a voice like thunder?	4 Hai tu un braccio come quello di Dio? E tuoni con voce uguale alla sua?
5 Envelop yourself with splendor, and raise yourself up on high, and be glorious, and put on splendid garments.	5 Ammantati di splendore e levati in alto, fatti glorioso e ornati di splendide vesti.
6 Scatter the arrogant with your wrath, and, when you see all the arrogant, humble them.	6 Disperdi nel tuo furore i superbi, umilia col tuo sguardo tutti gli arroganti.
7 Look down upon each of the arrogant and confound them, and crush the impious in their place.	7 Mira tutti i superbi e confondili, schiaccia gli empi dovunque si trovino.
8 Hide them in the dust together and plunge their faces into the pit.	8 Nascondili tutti insieme nella polvere, e sommergi le loro facce nella fossa.
9 Then I will confess that your right hand is able to save you.	9 Ed allora io confesserò che la tua destra potrà salvarti.
10 Behold, the behemoth, whom I created along with you, eats hay like an ox.	10 Ecco Behemot, che io feci con te, esso mangerò l'erba come il bue.
11 His strength is in his lower back, and his power is in the center of his abdomen.	11 La sua forza sta nei suoi fianchi e il suo vigore nel bellico del suo ventre.
12 He draws up his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs have been drawn together.	12 Drizza la sua coda come un cedro, i nervi delle sue cosce sono intrecciati.

15 The mountains bring forth grass for him; all the beasts of the field will play there.	15 i monti gli forniscono l'erbe: tutte le bestie del campo gli scherzano d'intorno.
16 He sleeps in the shadows, under the cover of branches, and in moist places.	16 Dorme all'ombra nel folto dei canneti per le paludi.
17 The shadows cover his shadow; the willows of the brook will encircle him.	17 Le ombre coprono la sua ombra, lo circondan i salici del torrente.
18 Behold, he will drink a river and not be amazed, and he has confidence that the Jordan could flow into his mouth.	18 Ecco assorbirà un fiume senza maravigliarsi, colla fiducia che il Giordano passi per la sua gola.
19 He will seize him through his eyes, as if with a hook, and he will bore through his nostrils, as if with stakes.	19 Lo prenderanno sotto i suoi occhi come all'amo, gli foreranno le narici con un rampone.
20 Can you draw out the leviathan with a hook, and can you bind his tongue with a cord?	20 Potrai tirar fuori il Leviatan coll'amo, e con una corda legare la sua lingua?
21 Can you place a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with an arm band?	21 Gli potrai porre un cerchio alle narici, o forargli la mascella con un anello?
22 Will he offer many prayers to you, or speak to you quietly?	22 ti porgerà forse molte suppliche, o ti dirà dolci parole?
23 Will he form a covenant with you, and will you accept him as a servant forever?	23 Verrà teco a patti, perchè tu lo prenda a tuo servizio per sempre?
24 Will you play with him as with a bird, or tether him for your handmaids?	24 Scherzerai forse con lui come con un uccello, o lo legherai per le tue serve?
25 Will your friends cut him into pieces, will dealers distribute him?	25 Lo faranno in pezzi gli amici? Lo divideranno i mercanti?
26 Will you fill up bags with his hide, and let his head be used as a home for fishes?	26 Empirai le reti colla sua pelle e colla sua testa il serbatoio di pesci?
27 Place your hand upon him; remember the battle and speak no more.	27 Mettigli un po' la mano addosso: ricordati della guerra e non ne parlar più.
28 Behold, his hope will fail him, and in the sight of all, he will be thrown down.	28 Ecco, la sua speranza sarà fallace e a vista di tutti sarà atterrato ».
