Exodus 34

1 And after this he said: “Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone similar to the first ones, and I will write upon them the words which were held on the tablets that you broke.	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Scolpisciti due tavole di pietra, come le prime: scriverò sulle tavole le parole che erano sulle prime tavole che hai rotto.
2 Be prepared in the morning, so that you may immediately ascend onto Mount Sinai, and you shall stand with me on the summit of the mountain.	2 Sii pronto al mattino: sali, al mattino, sul monte Sinai e starai lì per me, sulla cima del monte.
3 Let no one ascend with you, and do not let anyone be seen throughout the entire mountain. Likewise, do not let the oxen or the sheep pasture up against it.”	3 Nessuno salirà con te, neppure uno si veda in tutto il monte: né greggi né armenti pascolino intorno a questo monte".
4 And so he cut out two tablets of stone, like those that were before. And rising up in the night, he ascended onto Mount Sinai, just as the Lord had instructed him, carrying with him the tablets.	4 Mosè tagliò due tavole di pietra, come le prime, poi si alzò di buon mattino e salì sul monte Sinai, come gli aveva ordinato il Signore, e prese nella sua mano le due tavole di pietra.
5 And when the Lord had descended in a cloud, Moses stood with him, calling upon the name of the Lord.	5 Il Signore scese nella nuvola e si tenne là presso di lui ed egli invocò il nome del Signore.
6 And as he was crossing before him, he said: “The Ruler, the Lord God, merciful and lenient, patient and full of compassion and also truthful,	6 Il Signore passò davanti a lui e gridò: "Il Signore, il Signore, Dio di pietà e misericordia, lento all'ira e ricco di grazia e verità,
7 who preserves mercy a thousand fold, who takes away iniquity, and wickedness, and also sin; and with you no one, in and of himself, is innocent. You render the iniquity of the fathers to the sons, and also to their descendents to the third and fourth generation.”	7 che conserva grazia per mille generazioni, sopporta colpa, trasgressione e peccato, ma senza ritenerli innocenti, che visita la colpa dei padri sui figli e sui figli dei figli fino alla terza e fino alla quarta generazione".
8 And hurrying, Moses bowed down prostrate to the ground; and worshiping,	8 Mosè si chinò a terra e si prostrò.
9 he said: “If I have found grace in your sight, O Lord, I beg you to walk with us, (for the people are stiff-necked) and take away our iniquities and our sin, and so possess us.”	9 Poi disse: "Se ho trovato grazia ai tuoi occhi, mio Signore, venga il mio Signore in mezzo a noi, perché quello è un popolo duro di cervice; perdona la nostra colpa e il nostro peccato e prendici in eredità".
10 The Lord responded: “I will enter into a pact in the sight of all. I will perform signs which have never been seen on earth, nor among any nation, so that this people, in whose midst you are, may discern the terrible work of the Lord that I will do.	10 Il Signore disse: "Ecco, io contraggo un'alleanza di fronte a tutto il tuo popolo: compirò prodigi che non sono mai stati compiuti in tutta la terra e tra tutte le nazioni; tutto il popolo, in mezzo al quale tu sei, vedrà come è terribile l'opera del Signore, che io farò con te.
11 Observe everything that I command you this day. I myself will drive out before your face the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.	11 Osserva quello che io ti ordino oggi: ecco, caccio davanti a te l'Amorreo, il Cananeo, l'Hittita, il Perizzita, l'Eveo e il Gebuseo.
12 Beware that you do not ever join in friendship with the inhabitants of that land, which may be your ruin.	12 Guàrdati dal contrarre alleanza con l'abitante del paese nel quale stai andando, perché non sia una trappola in mezzo a te:
13 But destroy their altars, break their statues, and cut down their sacred groves.	13 rovescerete i loro altari, spezzerete le loro stele, taglierete i loro pali sacri,
14 Do not be willing to worship any strange god. The jealous Lord is his name. God is a rival.	14 perché non ti prostrerai a un altro dio, poiché il Signore è un Dio geloso.
15 Do not enter into a pact with the men of those regions, lest, when they will have fornicated with their gods and worshiped their idols, someone might call upon you to eat from what was immolated.	15 Non contrarre alleanza con l'abitante del paese: altrimenti, quando si prostituiscono ai loro dèi e sacrificano ai loro dèi, ti chiamerà e mangerai del suo sacrificio.
16 Neither shall you take a wife for your son from their daughters, lest, after they themselves have fornicated, they may cause your sons also to fornicate with their gods.	16 Non prenderai delle sue figlie per i tuoi figli: altrimenti quando esse si prostituiranno ai loro dèi, faranno prostituire i tuoi figli ai loro dèi.
17 You shall not make for yourselves any molten gods.	17 Non ti farai un dio di metallo fuso.
18 You shall keep the solemnity of unleavened bread. For seven days, you shall eat unleavened bread, just as I instructed you, in the time of the month of what is new. For in the month of springtime you departed from Egypt.	18 Osserverai la festa degli Azzimi: per sette giorni mangerai azzimi, come ti ho ordinato, per il tempo stabilito del mese di Abib, perché nel mese di Abib sei uscito dall'Egitto.
19 All of the male kind, which open the womb, shall be mine: from all the animals, as much of oxen as of sheep, it shall be mine.	19 Chiunque apre il grembo è mio, ogni primogenito maschio, bovino e ovino.
20 The firstborn of a donkey, you shall redeem with a sheep. But if you will not give a price for it, it shall be slain. The firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. You shall not appear empty in my sight.	20 Riscatterai il primo nato di un asino con un ovino e se non potrai riscattarlo gli spaccherai la nuca. Riscatterai ogni primogenito dei tuoi figli. Non ti presenterai davanti a me a mani vuote.
21 For six days you shall work. On the seventh day you shall cease to cultivate and to harvest.	21 Lavorerai per sei giorni, ma al settimo giorno riposerai: durante l'aratura e la mietitura riposerai.
22 You shall observe the Solemnity of Weeks with the first-fruits of the grain from the harvest of your wheat, and a Solemnity when the time of the year returns and everything is stored away.	22 Celebrerai la festa delle settimane, primizia della mietitura del grano, e la festa del raccolto, al volgere dell'anno.
23 Three times a year, all your males shall appear in the sight of the Almighty, the Lord God of Israel.	23 Tre volte all'anno ogni tuo maschio si presenterà davanti al Signore, Dio d'Israele,
24 For when I will have taken away the nations before your face, and enlarged your borders, no one shall lie in wait against your land when you will go up to appear in the sight of the Lord your God, three times a year.	24 perché ti farò entrare in possesso di nazioni davanti a te e allargherò i tuoi confini: nessuno bramerà la tua terra, quando salirai a vedere il volto del Signore, tuo Dio, tre volte all'anno.
25 You shall not immolate the blood of my victim over leaven; and there shall not remain, in the morning, any of the victim of the Solemnity of the Passover.	25 Non immolerai sul pane lievitato il mio sacrificio di sangue e il sacrificio della festa di Pasqua non dovrà durare tutta la notte fino al mattino.
26 The first of the fruits of your land you shall offer in the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of its mother.”	26 Porterai alla casa del Signore, tuo Dio, il meglio delle primizie del tuo suolo. Non farai cuocere un capretto nel latte di sua madre".
27 And the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words to you, through which I have formed a covenant, both with you and with Israel.”	27 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Scrivi queste parole, perché secondo queste parole ho contratto alleanza con te e con Israele".
28 Therefore, he was in that place with the Lord for forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread and he did not drink water, and he wrote on the tablets the ten words of the covenant.	28 Mosè stette con il Signore quaranta giorni e quaranta notti: non mangiò pane né bevve acqua. Scrisse sulle tavole le parole dell'alleanza, le dieci parole.
29 And when Moses descended from Mount Sinai, he held the two tablets of the testimony, and he did not know that his face was radiant from the sharing of words with the Lord.	29 Quando Mosè scese dal monte Sinai, le due tavole della testimonianza erano in mano sua, mentre scendeva dal monte, e Mosè non sapeva che la pelle del suo viso era raggiante, per avere parlato con lui.
30 Then Aaron and the sons of Israel, seeing that the face of Moses was radiant, were afraid to approach close by.	30 Aronne e tutti i figli d'Israele videro Mosè, ed ecco, la pelle del suo viso era raggiante; ebbero paura di avvicinarsi a lui.
31 And being called by him, they turned back, both Aaron and the leaders of the assembly. And after he had spoken to them,	31 Mosè li chiamò e Aronne con tutti i capi della comunità andò da lui. Mosè parlò con loro.
32 all the sons of Israel also now came to him. And he instructed them in all the things that he had heard from the Lord on Mount Sinai.	32 Dopo di che, tutti i figli d'Israele si avvicinarono e ordinò loro tutto quello che il Signore gli aveva detto sul monte Sinai.
33 And having completed these words, he placed a veil over his face.	33 Quando Mosè ebbe finito di parlare con loro, si mise un velo sul volto.
34 But when he entered to the Lord and was speaking with him, he took it off, until he exited. And then he spoke to the sons of Israel all that had been commanded to him.	34 Quando Mosè entrava davanti al Signore per parlare con lui, toglieva il velo fino alla sua uscita: poi usciva e diceva ai figli d'Israele quello che gli era stato ordinato.
35 And they saw that the face of Moses, when he came out, was radiant, but he covered his face again, whenever he spoke to them.	35 I figli d'Israele, guardando il volto di Mosè, vedevano che la pelle del suo volto era raggiante. Poi Mosè rimetteva il velo sul suo volto, fino a quando entrava a parlare con lui.
