1 Then, twenty years having passed since Solomon built the house of the Lord and his own house,	1 Trascorsi vent'anni durante i quali aveva edificato il tempio del Signore ed il proprio palazzo,
2 he built the cities that Hiram had given to Solomon, and he caused the sons of Israel to live there.	2 Salomone ricostruì le città che Curam gli aveva dato e vi stabilì gli Israeliti.
3 Also, he went to Hamath Zobah, and he obtained it.	3 Salomone marciò contro Camat di Zoba e la conquistò.
4 And he built Palmira in the desert, and he built very fortified cities in Hamath.	4 Ricostruì Palmira nel deserto e tutte le città di rifornimento che aveva edificato nella regione di Camat.
5 And he built upper Beth-horon and lower Beth-horon, as walled cities, having gates and bars and locks,	5 Riedificò Bet-Oròn superiore e Bet-Oròn inferiore, città fortificate con mura, porte e catenacci,
6 as well as Baalath, and all the very strong cities which were of Solomon, and all the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen. Everything whatsoever that Solomon willed and decided, he built in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout the entire land of his authority.	6 inoltre Baalat e tutte le città di rifornimento che erano di sua proprietà, poi tutte le città dei carri e della cavalleria, insomma tutto quanto gli sembrò bene di costruire a Gerusalemme, nel Libano e in tutto il territorio sottomesso al suo dominio.
7 All the people who had been left from the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, those who were not from the stock of Israel,	7 Tutti quelli che rimanevano degli Hittiti, degli Amorrei, dei Perizziti, degli Evei e dei Gebusei, che non erano Israeliti,
8 those of their sons and their posterity whom the sons of Israel had not put to death, Solomon subjugated as tributaries, even to this day.	8 cioè i loro discendenti che erano rimasti dopo di loro nel paese, non essendo stati sterminati dagl'Israeliti, Salomone li sottopose ai lavori forzati come avviene ancor oggi.
9 But he did not appoint anyone from the sons of Israel to serve in the works of the king. For they were men of war, and first rulers, and commanders of his chariots and horsemen.	9 Ma tra i figli d'Israele Salomone non impiegò nessuno come schiavo per il lavoro, perché questi erano guerrieri, capi dei suoi scudieri, capi dei suoi carri e della sua cavalleria.
10 Now all the leaders of the army of king Solomon were two hundred fifty, who were instructing the people.	10 Questi capi di prefetti del re Salomone erano duecentocinquanta; essi sorvegliavano il popolo.
11 Truly, he transferred the daughter of Pharaoh, from the City of David, to the house that he had built for her. For the king said: “My wife shall not live in the house of David, king of Israel, for it has been sanctified. For the ark of the Lord has entered into it.”	11 Salomone trasferì la figlia del faraone dalla Città di Davide alla casa che aveva costruito per lei, perché pensava: "Non deve abitare una mia donna nella casa di Davide, re d'Israele, poiché è sacro ogni luogo in cui è venuta a posarsi l'arca del Signore".
12 Then Solomon offered holocausts to the Lord on the altar of the Lord, which he had constructed before the portico,	12 Allora Salomone offrì olocausti al Signore sull'altare del Signore che aveva edificato di fronte al vestibolo.
13 so that every day there would be an offering on it, in accord with precept of Moses, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and three times a year on the feast days, that is, on the solemnity of unleavened bread, and on the solemnity of weeks, and in the solemnity of tabernacles.	13 Offrì olocausti secondo l'ordinamento quotidiano, seguendo il comando di Mosè, nei sabati, nei noviluni e nelle tre feste annuali, cioè nella festa degli Azzimi, nella festa delle Settimane e nella festa delle Capanne.
14 And he appointed, in accord with the plan of his father David, the offices of the priests in their ministries; and those of the Levites, in their orders, so that they might praise and minister before the priests according to the ritual of each day; and the porters, in their divisions, from gate to gate. For so had David, the man of God, instructed.	14 Dispose poi secondo l'ordinamento di Davide, suo padre, le classi dei sacerdoti per il loro servizio e i leviti nelle loro funzioni di lodare Dio e officiare in presenza dei sacerdoti giorno per giorno; dispose ugualmente i portieri secondo le loro classi a ogni singola porta, perché così aveva comandato Davide, uomo di Dio.
15 Neither the priests, nor the Levites, transgressed against the commands of the king, in all that he had instructed, and in the keeping of the treasuries.	15 Non ci si allontanò in nulla dalle disposizioni del re riguardo ai sacerdoti e ai leviti e nemmeno in ciò che concerne i tesori.
16 Solomon had all the expenses prepared, from the day on which he founded the house of the Lord, even until the day when he perfected it.	16 Così fu condotta a termine tutta l'opera di Salomone, dal giorno in cui fu fondato il tempio del Signore fino al suo definitivo compimento.
17 Then Solomon went away to Eziongeber, and to Eloth, on the coast of the Red Sea, which is in the land of Edom.	17 Allora Salomone si recò ad Ezion-Gheber e ad Elat sulla riva del mare, nel paese di Edom.
18 And Hiram sent to him ships, by the hands of his servants, sailors and skillful navigators of the sea, and they went away with the servants of Solomon to Ophir. And they took from there four hundred fifty talents of gold, and they brought it to king Solomon.	18 Curam per mezzo dei suoi marinai gli inviò navi e uomini esperti del mare. Questi, insieme con i marinai di Salomone, andarono a Ofir e vi presero quattrocentocinquanta talenti d'oro e li portarono al re Salomone.
