1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for fifty-five years in Jerusalem.	1 Quando divenne re, Manasse aveva dodici anni; egli regnò a Gerusalemme cinquantacinque anni.
2 But he did evil before the Lord, in accord with all the abominations of the nations which the Lord overturned before the sons of Israel.	2 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, seguendo le abominazioni delle nazioni che il Signore aveva scacciato davanti agl'Israeliti.
3 And turning away, he repaired the high places, which had been demolished by his father, Hezekiah. And he constructed altars to the Baals, and made sacred groves. And he adored the entire army of heaven, and he served them.	3 Egli ricostruì le alture che Ezechia, suo padre, aveva abbattuto, eresse altari ai Baal, fece i pali sacri, adorò tutto l'esercito del cielo e lo servì.
4 Also, he built altars in the house of the Lord, about which the Lord had said, “My name shall be in Jerusalem forever.”	4 Fece erigere altari nel tempio del Signore, del quale il Signore aveva detto: "A Gerusalemme il mio nome rimarrà per sempre".
5 But he built these for the entire army of heaven, in the two courts of the house of the Lord.	5 Costruì altari a tutto l'esercito del cielo nei due cortili del tempio del Signore.
6 And he caused his sons to pass through fire in the Valley of the son of Hinnom. He observed dreams, followed divinations, served the occult arts, had with him magicians and enchanters, and worked many evils before the Lord, so that he provoked him.	6 Fu lui che fece passare i suoi figli attraverso il fuoco nella valle di Ben-Innòm; praticò l'astrologia, la magia e la divinazione stabilendo negromanti e indovini; moltiplicò il male agli occhi del Signore, in modo da provocarne lo sdegno.
7 Also, he set up a graven image and molten statue in the house of God, about which God said to David, and to his son Solomon: “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel, I will place my name forever.	7 Collocò la statua dell'idolo, che si era fatta, nel tempio di Dio, del quale Dio aveva detto a Davide e a Salomone, suo figlio: "In questo tempio ed in Gerusalemme, che ho scelto tra tutte le tribù d'Israele, porrò il mio nome per sempre.
8 And I will not cause the foot of Israel to be moved from the land which I delivered to their fathers. Yet this is so, only if they will take care to do what I have instructed them, by the hand of Moses, with the entire law and the ceremonies and the judgments.”	8 Non voglio che il piede d'Israele si allontani più dal suolo che ho destinato ai loro padri, a condizione che si impegnino a eseguire tutto ciò che ho loro comandato secondo tutta la legge, i decreti e le disposizioni date per mezzo di Mosè".
9 And so Manasseh seduced Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that they did evil, more so than all the nations which the Lord had overturned before the face of the sons of Israel.	9 Ma Manasse sviò Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme in modo che essi agirono peggio delle nazioni che il Signore aveva distrutto di fronte agl'Israeliti.
10 And the Lord spoke to him and to his people, but they were not willing to pay attention.	10 Il Signore parlò a Manasse e al suo popolo, ma essi non prestarono attenzione.
11 Therefore, he led over them the leaders of the army of the king of the Assyrians. And they captured Manasseh, and they led him, bound with chains and fetters, to Babylon.	11 Allora il Signore fece marciare contro di essi i capi dell'esercito del re di Assiria; questi presero Manasse con uncini e, legatolo con doppia catena di bronzo, lo condussero in Babilonia.
12 And after this, being in great anguish, he prayed to the Lord his God. And he did penance greatly before the God of his fathers.	12 Trovandosi in angustia Manasse implorò il Signore, suo Dio, e si umiliò profondamente davanti al Dio dei suoi padri.
13 And he petitioned and begged him intently. And he heeded his prayer, and led him back to Jerusalem, into his kingdom. And Manasseh realized that the Lord himself was God.	13 Lo supplicò e fu esaudito; il Signore ascoltò la sua supplica e lo ricondusse a Gerusalemme nel suo regno. Allora Manasse riconobbe che il Signore è Dio!
14 After these things, he built a wall outside the City of David, to the west of Gihon, at the steep valley, from the entrance to the fish gate, circling around as far as Ophel. And he raised it up greatly. And he appointed leaders of the army in all the fortified cities of Judah.	14 Dopo di ciò egli costruì un muro esterno alla Città di Davide, a occidente di Ghicon nella valle, fino alla porta dei Pesci, tutto intorno all'Ofel e lo fece molto alto. Poi stabilì dei capi dell'esercito in tutte le città fortificate di Giuda.
15 And he took away the foreign gods, and the idol from the house of the Lord, and also the altars which he had made on the mount of the house of the Lord and in Jerusalem. And he cast all these things outside the city.	15 Fece sparire dal tempio del Signore gli dèi stranieri e l'idolo, come anche tutti gli altari che aveva costruito sulla collina del tempio del Signore e in Gerusalemme e li gettò fuori della città.
16 Then he repaired the altar of the Lord, and he immolated upon it victims, and peace offerings, with praise. And he instructed Judah to serve the Lord, the God of Israel.	16 Quindi ristabilì l'altare del Signore offrendo sopra di esso sacrifici pacifici e di lode e ordinò ai Giudei di servire il Signore, Dio d'Israele.

18 But the rest of the deeds of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and also the words of the seers who were speaking to him in the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, are contained in the words of the kings of Israel.	18 Il resto degli atti di Manasse, la preghiera che egli rivolse al suo Dio e le parole dei veggenti che gli parlarono in nome del Signore, Dio d'Israele, sono scritti negli Atti dei re d'Israele.

20 Then Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house. And his son, Amon, reigned in his place.	20 Manasse si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nel giardino della sua casa. Al suo posto regnò Amòn, suo figlio.
21 Amon was twenty-two years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for two years in Jerusalem.	21 Quando cominciò a regnare Amòn aveva ventidue anni e regnò due anni a Gerusalemme.
22 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, just as his father Manasseh had done. And he immolated to all the idols that Manasseh had fabricated, and he served them.	22 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, come aveva fatto Manasse, suo padre. Amòn offrì sacrifici a tutti gli idoli che Manasse, suo padre, aveva fatto costruire e li servì.
23 But he did not turn his face to the Lord, as his father Manasseh had turned himself. And he sinned much more grievously.	23 Non si umiliò davanti al Signore come s'era umiliato Manasse, suo padre, anzi egli, Amòn, aumentò le sue colpe.
24 And when his servants had conspired against him, they killed him in his own house.	24 I suoi servi fecero una congiura contro di lui e lo uccisero nella sua casa.
25 But the rest of the multitude of the people, having slain those who had struck down Amon, appointed his son, Josiah, as king in his place.	25 Allora il popolo del paese colpì a morte tutti quelli che avevano cospirato contro il re Amòn e il popolo del paese proclamò re al suo posto Giosia, suo figlio.
