1 Then Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, returned in peace to his house in Jerusalem.	1 Cuando Josafat, rey de Judá, regresaba sano y salvo a Jerusalén,
2 And the seer Jehu, the son of Hanani, met him, and said to him: “You offer assistance to the impious, and you are joined in friendship with those who hate the Lord. And for this reason, you certainly deserve the wrath of the Lord.	2 le salió al encuentro Jehú, hijo de Jananí, el vidente, y el dijo: «¡Tenías que ayudar al impío y favorecer a los que odian al Señor? Por eso has traído sobre ti la cólera del Señor.
3 But good works have been found in you. For you have taken away the sacred groves from the land of Judah. And you have prepared your heart, so as to seek the Lord, the God of your fathers.”	3 Sin embargo, tienes algunas cosas buenas, porque has quemado los postes sagrados que han desaparecido del país, y te has esforzado por buscar a Dios de todo corazón».
4 Then Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem. And again he went out to the people, from Beersheba as far as mount Ephraim. And he called them back to the Lord, the God of their fathers.	4 Josafat residía en Jerusalén, pero salió de nuevo para visitar a su pueblo, desde Berseba hasta la montaña de Efraím, y lo hizo volver al Señor, el Dios de sus padres.
5 And he appointed judges of the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, in each place.	5 Estableció jueces en el país, en todas y cada una de las ciudades fortificadas de Judá,
6 And instructing the judges, he said: “Pay attention to what you are doing. For you exercise judgment, not of man, but of the Lord. And whatever you will have judged, it will come back to you.	6 y dijo a los jueces: «Miren bien lo que hacen, porque ustedes no deben juzgar en nombre de los hombres, sino del Señor, que está con ustedes cuando administran la justicia.
7 Let the fear of the Lord be with you, and do all things with diligence. For there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor desire for gifts.”	7 ¡Que permanezca sobre ustedes el temor del Señor! Tengan mucho cuidado con lo que hacen, porque el Señor, nuestro Dios, no tolera la injusticia, ni la acepción de personas, ni el soborno».
8 Jehoshaphat also appointed Levites and priests and leaders of families, out of Israel, in Jerusalem, so that they might judge the judgment and purpose of the Lord for its inhabitants.	8 También en Jerusalén, Josafat estableció levitas, sacerdotes y jefes de familia de Israel, para dictar las sentencias del Señor y dirimir los pleitos entre los habitantes de Jerusalén.
9 And he instructed them, saying, “So shall you act: faithfully, in the fear of the Lord, and with a perfect heart.	9 Les dio estas instrucciones: «Obren siempre con temor del Señor, con fidelidad e integridad de corazón.
10 Every case that will come to you from your brothers, who live in their cities, between kindred and kindred, wherever there is a question concerning law, commandment, ceremonies, or justifications, reveal it to them, so that they may not sin against the Lord, and so that wrath may not overwhelm you and your brothers. Then, by acting in this way, you will not sin.	10 En todo pleito que provenga de sus hermanos residentes en cualquier ciudad –ya sean causas de sangre o cuestiones relativas a la Ley, a los mandamientos, a los preceptos y a las costumbres– ustedes deberán instruirlos, para que no se hagan culpables delante del Señor y su ira no se encienda contra ustedes y contra sus hermanos. Obren de esta manera, y no se harán culpables.
11 But Amariah, a priest and your high priest, shall preside over those things which pertain to God. Then Zebadiah, the son of Ishmael, who is a ruler in the house of Judah, shall be over those works that pertain to the office of the king. And you have before you the Levites as teachers. Be strengthened and act diligently, and the Lord will be with you for what is good.”	11 El sacerdote Amarías tendrá autoridad sobre ustedes en todos los asuntos concernientes al Señor, y Zebadías, hijo de Ismael, príncipe de la casa de Judá, en todos los asuntos concernientes al rey. Los levitas les servirán de escriban. ¡Tengan ánimo y pónganse a trabajar! ¡Y que el Señor está con los hombres de bien!».
