And so they took the ark of God, and they set it in the midst of the tabernacle, which David had pitched for it. And they offered holocausts and peace offerings before God.1 They brought in the ark of God and set it within the tent which David had pitched for it. Then they offered up holocausts and peace offerings to God.
And when David had completed offering holocausts and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.2 When David had finished offering up the holocausts and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD,
And he divided to every single one, from men even to women, a twist of bread, and a piece of roasted beef, and fine wheat flour fried with oil.3 and distributed to every Israelite, to every man and every woman, a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a raisin cake.
And he appointed some from the Levites who would minister before the ark of the Lord, and commemorate his works, and glorify and praise the Lord, the God of Israel.4 He now appointed certain Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate, thank, and praise the LORD, the God of Israel.
Asaph was the leader, and second to him was Zechariah. In addition, there were Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom. And Jeiel was over the instruments of the psaltery and the harps. But Asaph sounded out with the cymbals.5 Asaph was their chief, and second to him were Zechariah, Uzziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. These were to play on harps and lyres, while Asaph was to sound the cymbals,
Truly, the priests, Benaiah and Jahaziel, were to sound the trumpet continually before the ark of the covenant of the Lord.6 and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel were to be the regular trumpeters before the ark of the covenant of God.
In that day, David made Asaph the leader, in order to confess to the Lord with his brothers:7 Then, on that same day, David appointed Asaph and his brethren to sing for the first time these praises of the LORD:
“Confess to the Lord, and invoke his name. Make known his endeavors among the peoples.8 Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the nations his deeds.
Sing to him, and sing psalms to him, and describe all his miracles.9 Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds.
Praise his holy name! Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice!10 Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
Seek the Lord and his virtue. Seek his face always.11 Look to the LORD in his strength; seek to serve him constantly.
Remember his miracles, which he has accomplished, his signs, and the judgments of his mouth.12 Recall the wondrous deeds that he has wrought, his portents, and the judgments he has uttered,
O offspring of Israel, his servants! O sons of Jacob, his elect!13 You descendants of Israel, his servants, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones!
He is the Lord our God. His judgments are throughout all the earth.14 He, the LORD, is our God; throughout the earth his judgments prevail.
Remember forever his covenant, the word that he instructed unto a thousand generations,15 He remembers forever his covenant which he made binding for a thousand generations--
the covenant that he formed with Abraham, and his oath with Isaac.16 Which he entered into with Abraham and by his oath to Isaac;
And he appointed the same to Jacob as a precept, and to Israel as an everlasting pact,17 Which he established for Jacob by statute, for Israel as an everlasting covenant,
saying: ‘To you, I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.’18 Saying, "To you will I give the land of Canaan as your allotted inheritance."
At that time, they were small in number, they were few and were settlers there.19 When they were few in number, a handful, and strangers there,
And they passed through, from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people.20 Wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,
He did not permit anyone to falsely accuse them. Instead, he reproved kings on their behalf:21 He let no one oppress them, and for their sake he rebuked kings:
‘Do not touch my Christ. And do not malign my prophets.’22 "Touch not my anointed, and to my prophets do no harm."
Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Announce his salvation, from day to day.23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth, announce his salvation, day after day
Describe his glory among the Gentiles, his miracles among all the peoples.24 Tell his glory among the nations; among all peoples, his wondrous deeds.
For the Lord is great and exceedingly praiseworthy. And he is terrible, above all gods.25 For great is the LORD and highly to be praised; and awesome is he, beyond all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols. But the Lord made the heavens.26 For all the gods of the nations are things of nought, but the LORD made the heavens.
Confession and magnificence are before him. Strength and gladness are in his place.27 Splendor and majesty go before him; praise and joy are in his holy place.
Bring to the Lord, O families of the peoples, bring to the Lord glory and dominion.28 Give to the LORD, you families of nations, give to the LORD glory and praise;
Give glory to the Lord, to his name. Lift up sacrifice, and approach before his sight. And adore the Lord in holy attire.29 Give to the LORD the glory due his name! Bring gifts, and enter his presence; worship the LORD in holy attire.
Let all the earth be moved before his face. For he founded the globe immoveable.30 Tremble before him, all the earth; he has made the world firm, not to be moved.
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth exult. And let them say among the nations, ‘The Lord has reigned.’31 Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let them say among the nations: The LORD is king.
Let the sea roar, with all its plenitude. Let the fields exult, with all that is in them.32 Let the sea and what fills it resound; let the plains rejoice and all that is in them!
Then the trees of the forest will give praise before the Lord. For he comes to judge the earth.33 Then shall all the trees of the forest exult before the LORD, for he comes: he comes to rule the earth.
Confess to the Lord, for he is good. For his mercy is eternal.34 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his kindness endures forever;
And say: ‘Save us, O God our savior! And gather us together, and rescue us from the nations, so that we may confess to your holy name, and may exult in your songs.35 And say, "Save us, O God, our savior, gather us and deliver us from the nations, That we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in praising you."
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from eternity to eternity.’ And let all the people say, ‘Amen,’ and let them sing a hymn to the Lord.”36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, through all eternity! Let all the people say, Amen! Alleluia.
And so, there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, he left Asaph and his brothers, so that they might minister in the sight of the ark continually, throughout each day, and in their turns.37 Then David left Asaph and his brethren there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister before the ark regularly according to the daily ritual;
Now Obededom and his brothers were sixty-eight. And he appointed Obededom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah to be porters.38 he also left there Obed-edom and sixty-eight of his brethren, including Obed-edom, son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be gatekeepers.
But Zadok the priest, and his brothers the priests, were before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place, which was in Gibeon,39 But the priest Zadok and his priestly brethren he left before the Dwelling of the LORD on the high place at Gibeon,
so that they could offer holocausts to the Lord upon the altar of holocausts continually, morning and evening, according to all that was written in the law of the Lord, which he instructed to Israel.40 to offer holocausts to the LORD on the altar of holocausts regularly, morning and evening, and to do all that is written in the law of the LORD which he has decreed for Israel.
And after him, Heman, and Jeduthun, and the remainder of the elect, each one by his name, were appointed to confess to the Lord: “For his mercy endures forever.”41 With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the others who were chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD, "because his kindness endures forever,"
Also Heman and Jeduthun sounded the trumpet, and they played upon the cymbals, and upon every kind of musical instrument, in order to sing praises to God. But the sons of Jeduthun he made to be porters.42 with trumpets and cymbals for accompaniment, and instruments for the sacred chant. The sons of Jeduthun kept the gate.
And all the people returned to their houses, and David also, so that he might bless his own house too.43 Then all the people departed, each to his own home, and David returned to bless his household.
