1 Then all those greater by birth of Israel, with the leaders of the tribes and the rulers of the families of the sons of Israel, gathered together before king Solomon at Jerusalem, so that they might carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, from the city of David, that is, from Zion.	1 Allora si raunarono tutti i maggiori (della casa) per la nazione d' Israel con i principi delle tribù, e co' capi delle famiglie de' figliuoli d' Israel, al re Salomone in Ierusalem, per portare l'arca del patto di Dio della città di David, cioè di Sion.
2 And all of Israel assembled before king Solomon, on the solemn day in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month.	2 E tutto il popolo d' Israel si raunò a Salomone nel mese Etanim, in dì solenne, cioè il settimo mese.
3 And all the elders of Israel arrived, and the priests took up the ark.	3 E vennero gli antichi d' Israel tutti; e i sacerdoti tolsero l'arca di Dio.
4 And they carried the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the covenant, and all the vessels of the Sanctuary, which were in the tabernacle; and the priests and the Levites carried these.	4 E portaronla col tabernacolo del patto di Dio, e tutte le vasa del santuario le quali erano nel tabernacolo; i sacerdoti e i leviti le portavano.
5 Then king Solomon, and the entire multitude of Israel, who had assembled before him, advanced with him before the ark. And they immolated sheep and oxen, which could not be numbered or estimated.	5 E il re Salomone, e tutta la moltitudine ch' era congregata a lui, andavano con esso lui innanzi all' arca, e sacrificavano pecore e bnoi senza estimazione e senza numero.
6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, into the oracle of the temple, in the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim.	6 E i sacerdoti puosero l' arca nel luogo suo, nello oracolo del tempio, cioè SANCTA SANCTORUM, sotto l'ale de' cherubini.
7 For indeed, the cherubim extended their wings over the place of the ark, and they protected the ark and its bars from above.	7 Però che i cherubini spandeano l' ale sopra il luogo dell' arca, [e proteggevano l'arca] e le stanghe sue di sopra.
8 And since the bars projected outward, their ends were visible from without, in the Sanctuary before the oracle; but they were not visible farther outward. And they have been in that place even to the present day.	8 E istando le stanghe alte, e apparendo le loro sommitadi di fuori del santuario dinanzi all'oracolo, non appareano più di fuori, le quali furono ivi insino al presente die.
9 Now inside the ark, there was nothing other than the two tablets of stone, which Moses had placed in it at Horeb, when the Lord formed a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they departed from the land of Egypt.	9 E nell' arca non era altro che due tavole di pietra, le quali vi puose Moisè in Oreb, quando Iddio fece il patto con i figliuoli d' Israel, quando uscirono della terra d' Egitto.
10 Then it happened that, when the priests had exited from the Sanctuary, a cloud filled the house of the Lord.	10 E usciti gli sacerdoti del tempio, la nebbia empio la casa di Dio.
11 And the priests were unable to stand and minister, because of the cloud. For the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.	11 E non poteano i sacerdoti stare ed amministrare per la nebbia; però che la gloria del Signore avea empiuta la casa del Signore.
12 Then Solomon said: “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a cloud.	12 E allora disse Salomone: il Signore disse ch' egli abiterebbe nella nebbia.
13 Building, I have built a house as your dwelling place, your most firm throne forever.”	13 Edificando io edificai abitacolo tuo, fermissimo trono (ovvero la sedia tua) in sempiterno.
14 And the king turned his face, and he blessed the entire assembly of Israel. For the entire assembly of Israel was standing.	14 E voltò il re il viso suo, e benedisse tutto il popolo d' Israel; e tutto il popolo istava.
15 And Solomon said: “Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to my father David, and who, with his own hands, has perfected it, saying:	15 E Salomone disse: benedetto il Signore Iddio d' Israel, il quale colla sua bocca disse al padre mio David, e nelle sue mani fornì, dicendo:
16 ‘From the day when I led my people Israel away from Egypt, I did not choose any city out of all the tribes of Israel, so that a house would be built, and so that my name might be there. Instead, I chose David to be over my people Israel.’	16 Dal dì nel quale trassi il popolo mio d' Israel d'Egitto, non elessi città di tutte le tribù d' Israel, acciò che fosse edificata casa, acciò che il mio nome abitasse ivi; ma io elessi David, che fosse sopra il mio popolo Israel.
17 And my father David wanted to build a house to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.	17 E volse il mio padre David edificare casa al nome del Signore Iddio d'Israel.
18 But the Lord said to my father David: ‘Since you have planned in your heart to build a house to my name, you have done well by considering this plan in your mind.	18 E disse il Signore al mio padre David: che tu abbi [avuto] pensiero nel tuo cuore di edificare casa al mio nome, bene facesti, trattando ciò nella mente tua.
19 Yet truly, you shall not build a house for me. Instead, your son, who shall go forth from your loins, he himself shall build a house to my name.’	19 Ma impertanto tu non edificherai a me casa; ma il tuo figliuolo, il quale uscirae delle tue reni, edificherà casa al mio nome.
20 The Lord has confirmed his word which he spoke. And so I stand in place of my father David, and I sit upon the throne of Israel, just as the Lord said. And I have built a house to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.	20 E ha il Signore confirmata la sua parola, la quale disse; e io istò per David mio padre, e ho seduto sopra la sedia d' Israel, sì come ha parlato il Signore; e ho edificata la casa al nome del Signore Iddio d'Israel.
21 And there I have appointed a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the Lord that he struck with our fathers, when they went forth from the land of Egypt.”	21 E ho ordinato il luogo dell' arca, nel quale è il patto del Signore (Iddio d' Israel), il quale fece coi padri nostri, quando uscirono della terra d' Egitto.
22 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord, in the sight of the assembly of Israel, and he extended his hands toward heaven.	22 E istette Salomone innanzi all'altare del Signore nel cospetto di tutto il popolo d' Israel, e isparse le sue mani al cielo.
23 And he said: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, nor on the earth below. You preserve covenant and mercy with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart.	23 E disse: Signore Iddio d' Israel, non è somigliante a te Iddio, nè in cielo di sopra, nè in terra di sotto; il quale osservi il patto e la misericordia a' tuoi servi, i quali vanno nel tuo cospetto con tutto il suo cuore;
24 You have fulfilled, for your servant David, my father, that which you said to him. With your mouth, you spoke; and with your hands, you completed; just this day proves.	24 il quale desti al servo tuo e mio padre David quelle cose che tu gli dicesti; colla bocca tu hai parlato, e per opera l' hai compiuto, sì come il prova il dì d' oggi.
25 Now therefore, O Lord God of Israel, fulfill, for your servant David, my father, that which you spoke to him, saying, ‘There shall not be taken away from you a man before me, who may sit upon the throne of Israel, if only your sons will guard their way, so that they walk before me, just as you have walked in my sight.’	25 E ora, Signore Iddio d'Israel, conserva al mio padre tuo servo David quello che tu gli dicesti: non sia tolto via uomo il quale sia di te, nel mio cospetto, il quale segga sopra la sedia d' Israel; ma in questo modo, se gli tuoi figliuoli osservaranno le tue vie, acciò che vadano nel cospetto mio, come tu andasti nel mio cospetto.
26 And now, O Lord God of Israel, establish your words, which you spoke to your servant David, my father.	26 E ora, Signore Iddio d' Israel, siano fermate le tue parole, le quali tu dicesti a David mio padre e tuo servo.
27 Is it, then, to be understood that truly God would dwell upon the earth? For if heaven, and the heavens of heavens, are not able to contain you, how much less this house, which I have built?	27 E non è egli da pensare che veramente Iddio abita sopra la terra? Se il cielo, e i cieli de' cieli, non ti possono comprendere, quanto maggiormente questa casa la quale t' hoe edificata?
28 Yet look with favor upon the prayer of your servant and upon his petitions, O Lord, my God. Listen to the hymn and the prayer, which your servant prays before you this day,	28 Ma riguarda alla orazione del tuo servo e a suoi prieghi, Signore Iddio; intendi la (mia) orazione, che il tuo servo ora dinanzi a te.
29 so that your eyes may be open over this house, night and day, over the house about which you said, ‘My name shall be there,’ so that you may heed the prayer that your servant is praying in this place to you.	29 Che gli occhii tuoi siano aperti il dì e la notte sopra questa casa, [della quale] tu dicesti: il mio nome sarà ivi, acciò che tu esaudischi la orazione la quale ora a te il servo tuo in questo luogo;
30 So may you heed the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel, whatever they will pray for in this place, and so may you heed them in your dwelling place in heaven. And when you heed, you will be gracious.	30 acciò che tu esaudischi la orazione del servo tuo e del popolo tuo Israel; acciò che tutto quello oreranno in questo luogo esaudiscagli nel luogo del tuo abitacolo in cielo; e quando tu averai esaudito, averai misericordia.
31 But if any man sins against his neighbor, and he has any kind of an oath by which he is bound, and he arrives because of the oath, before your altar in your house,	31 Se l'uomo avrà peccato contro al suo prossimo, e avrà alcuno giuramento, e verrà dinanzi al tuo altare nella tua casa,
32 you will hear in heaven, and you will act and judge your servants, condemning the impious, and repaying his own way upon his own head, but justifying the just, and rewarding him in accord with his justice.	32 tu lo esaudirai in cielo; e farai e giudicherai i tuoi servi, e condannerai l'uomo empio, e renderai la via sua nel capo suo, giustificando il giusto, rendendo a lui secondo la sua giustizia.
33 And if your people Israel will have fled from their enemies, because they have sinned against you, and doing penance and confessing to your name, shall arrive and pray and petition you in this house,	33 Se il tuo popolo d' Israel fuggirà gli suoi nemici, però ch' hae peccato a te, e convertendosi torneranno a penitenza, e confessandosi al tuo nome, verranno e adoreranno e pregherannoti in questa casa;
34 listen in heaven, and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and lead them back to the land, which you gave to their fathers.	34 esaudiscigli in cielo, e perdona le peccata del popolo tuo Israel, e ritornagli nella terra la quale tu desti a' padri loro.
35 And if the heavens have closed, so that there is no rain, because of their sins, and they, praying in this place, shall do penance to your name, and shall be converted from their sins, by occasion of their afflictions,	35 Se il cielo sarà serrato, e per le loro peccata non pioverà, e pentendosi in questo luogo oreranno al nome tuo, e convertirannosi dal loro peccato per la loro afflizione;
36 hear them from heaven, and forgive the sins of your servants and of your people Israel. And reveal to them the good way, along which they should walk, and grant rain upon your land, which you have given to your people as a possession.	36 tu gli esaudisci in cielo, e perdona i peccati delli servi tuoi e del popolo tuo Israel; mostra loro la via buona per la quale vadano, e dà la piova sopra la terra la quale tu desti loro in possessione.
37 Then, if famine rises over the land, or pestilence, or corrupt air, or blight, or locust, or mildew, or if their enemy afflicts them, besieging the gates, or any harm or infirmity,	37 Se in terra sarà nata fame o pestilenza ovvero aere corrotto ovvero ruggine, locuste o brughi, e affligerà il tuo popolo, e li suoi nemici assedieranno le sue porte; ogni piaga e infermità,
38 or whatever curse or divine intervention may happen to any man among your people Israel, if anyone understands, having been wounded in his heart, and if he will have extended his hands in this house,	38 e ogni devorazione e maledizione, che puote intervenire a uomo, interverrà al tuo popolo Israel; qualunque cognoscerà la piaga del suo cuore ed espanderà le mani in questa casa,
39 you will hear in heaven, in your dwelling place, and you will forgive. And you will act so that you give to each one in accord with his own ways, just as you see in his heart, for you alone know the heart of all the sons of men.	39 tu lo esaudirai in cielo nel luogo del tuo abitacolo, e perdonerai, e renderai a ciascuno secondo le sue vie, sì come tu vederai il suo cuore; perchè tu solo sei quello cognosce il cuore de' figliuoli degli uomini;
40 So may they fear you, all the days that they live upon the face of the land, which you have given to our fathers.	40 acciò che temano te tutti i dì che vivano sopra la terra, la quale tu desti a' nostri padri.
41 Moreover, the foreigner too, who is not of your people Israel, when he will have arrived from a distant land because of your name, for they shall hear about your great name, and your strong hand,	41 E anco i forestieri, che non sono del popolo tuo Israel, quando verranno di lunga terra per lo tuo nome; però che s' intenderà il tuo nome grande, e la mano tua forte, e lo braccio tuo
42 and your outstretched arm everywhere: so when he arrives and prays in this place,	42 disteso in ogni luogo; e però quando verranno e oreranno in questo luogo,
43 you will listen in heaven, in the firmament of your dwelling place. And you will do all the things, for which that foreigner will have called upon you. So may all the peoples of the earth learn to fear your name, just as your people Israel do. And so may they show that your name has been invoked over this house, which I have built.	43 tu gli esaudirai in cielo, nel firmamento del tuo abitacolo; e farai tutte quelle cose che i forestieri ti pregheranno, acciò che tutti i popoli della terra imparino di temere il tuo nome, sì come il tuo popolo d' Israel, e provino che il tuo nome è invocato in questa casa la quale io hoe edificata.
44 And if your people have gone out to war against their enemies, along whatever way you will send them, they shall pray to you in the direction of the city, which you have chosen, and toward the house, which I have built to your name.	44 Se il tuo popolo uscirà per la via a battaglia contro a' suoi nemici, in qualunque luogo tu gli manderai, oreranno a te contro alla via della città la quale tu eleggesti, e contro alla casa la quale io hoe edificata al tuo nome.
45 And you will hear in heaven their prayers and their petitions. And you will accomplish judgment for them.	45 Tu esaudirai in cielo la loro orazione e i loro prieghi, e farai il loro giudizio.
46 But if they sin against you, for there is no man who does not sin, and you, being angry, deliver them to their enemies, and they will have been led away as captives to the land of their enemies, whether far or near,	46 Ma s' egli peccheranno a te; però che non è uomo che non pecchi; e irato gli darai nelle mani de' loro nemici, e saranno menati pregioni nelle terre de' loro nemici, ovvero a lungo, ovvero a presso;
47 and if they do penance in their heart, in the place of captivity, and having been converted, make supplication to you in their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned; we acted unjustly; we committed impiety,’	47 e nel suo cuore si pentiranno nel luogo ove saranno in pregione, e ti pregheranno, dicendo: noi abbiamo peccato, iniquamente ed empiamente abbiamo fatto;
48 and they return to you with all their heart and all their soul, in the land of their enemies, to which they have been led away as captives, and if they pray to you in the direction of their land, which you gave to their fathers, and of the city, which you have chosen, and of the temple, which I have built to your name:	48 e torneranno a te con tutto il suo cuore, e con tutta l'anima, nella terra de' nemici loro alla quale erano menati pregioni, e adoreranno a te contro alla via della sua terra, la quale tu desti a' padri loro, e della città la quale tu eleggesti, e del tempio del quale io hoe edificato al tuo nome;
49 you will hear in heaven, in the firmament of your throne, their prayers and their petitions. And you will accomplish their judgment.	49 tu esaudirai in cielo, nel firmamento della tua sedia, le orazioni e i preghi loro, e farai il giudicio loro;
50 And you will forgive your people, who have sinned against you, and all their iniquities, by which they have transgressed against you. And you will grant to them mercy in the sight of those who have made them captives, so that they may take pity on them.	50 e perdonerai al popolo tuo il quale peccò a te, in tutte le prevaricazioni le quali prevaricarono in te; e darai loro misericordia nel cospetto di coloro che gli hanno in pregione, acciò che abbiano misericordia di loro.
51 For they are your people and your inheritance, whom you have led away from the land of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron.	51 Però ch' egli è tuo popolo e tua eredità, la quale tu traesti della terra d' Egitto, di mezzo della fornace del ferro.
52 So may your eyes be open to the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel. And so may you heed them in all the things about which they will call upon you.	52 E siano aperti gli occhii tuoi (sopra questa casa e) all' orazione del servo e del popolo tuo Israel, acciò che tu gli esaudischi in tutte quelle cose per le quali invocarono te.
53 For you have separated them to yourself as an inheritance, from among all the peoples of the earth, just as you spoke by Moses, your servant, when you led our fathers away from Egypt, O Lord God.”	53 Perciò che tu gli partisti a te, per la tua eredità, di tutti i popoli della terra, sì come tu dicesti loro per Moisè tuo servo, quando traesti i padri nostri della terra d' Egitto, Signore Iddio.
54 And it happened that, when Solomon had completed praying this entire prayer and supplication to the Lord, he rose up from the sight of the altar of the Lord. For he had fixed both knees upon the ground, and he had extended his hands toward heaven.	54 E compiuto Salomone, orando al Signore di tutta questa orazione e supplicazione, levossi dinanzi all' altare del Signore; e avea tenute in terra fitte amendue le ginocchia, e le mani avea tenute e spàrsele al cielo.
55 Then he stood and blessed the entire assembly of Israel in a great voice, saying:	55 Poi si levò, e benedisse tutto il popolo d' Israel, dicendo con grande voce:
56 “Blessed is the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel, in accord with all that he said. Not even one word, out of all the good things that he spoke by his servant Moses, has fallen away.	56 Benedetto il Signore Iddio, il quale hae dato riposo al suo popolo Israel, secondo tutte quelle cose ch' egli ha dette; e non è caduta sola una parola di tutto il bene il quale egli disse per lo suo servo Moisè.
57 May the Lord our God be with us, just as he was with our fathers, not abandoning us, and not rejecting us.	57 Sia il Signore Iddio nostro con noi [sì come fu co' nostri padri] e non ci abbandoni e non ci spregi.
58 But may he incline our hearts to himself, so that we may walk in all his ways, and keep his commandments, and his ceremonies, and whatever judgments he commanded to our fathers.	58 Ma inchini i nostri cuori a sè, acciò che (faccia il giudicio al suo servo, e acciò che) noi andiamo per tutte le vie sue, e guardiamo i suoi comandamenti e le osservanze e i giudicii, tutti quelli che comandò a' padri nostri.
59 And may these my words, by which I have prayed before the Lord, be near to the Lord our God, day and night, so that he may accomplish judgment for his servant and for his people Israel, throughout each day.	59 E siano questi sermoni miei, per li quali io hoe pregato nel cospetto del Signore, e appressinsi al Signore nostro Iddio il dì e la notte (e la mattina), acciò che faccia il giudicio al servo suo, e al suo popolo Israel, per ciascuno dì.
60 So may all the peoples of the earth know that the Lord himself is God, and there is no other beside him.	60 E sappiano tutti i popoli delle terre, che il Signore egli è Iddio, e non è altri fuori di lui.
61 Also, may our hearts be perfect with the Lord our God, so that we may walk in his decrees, and keep his commandments, as also on this day.”	61 E sia il nostro cuore perfetto col nostro Signore Iddio, [acciò] che noi andiamo per gli ordinamenti suoi, e osserviamo gli comandamenti suoi, come oggi.
62 Then the king, and all of Israel with him, immolated victims before the Lord.	62 Il re, e tutto Israel con esso lui, sacrificavano loro vittime nel cospetto di Dio.
63 And Solomon slew sacrifices of peace offerings, which he immolated to the Lord: twenty-two thousand oxen, and twenty thousand one hundred sheep. And the king and all the sons of Israel dedicated the temple of the Lord.	63 E Salomone offerea ostie pacifiche al Signore, e XXII milia buoi, e pecore CXX milia; e consecrarono il tempio del Signore il re e i figliuoli d' Israel.
64 On that day, the king sanctified the middle of the atrium, which was before the house of the Lord. For in that place, he offered holocaust, and sacrifice, and the fat of peace offerings. For the bronze altar, which was before the Lord, was too small and was not able to hold the holocaust, and the sacrifice, and the fat of the peace offerings.	64 In quel dì santificò il re il mezzo della casa, il quale era dinanzi alla casa del Signore; e fece ivi olocausto e sacrificio e grasso da pacifichi; però che lo altare del Signore non era tanto che potesse tenere lo olocausto e' sacrificii [e grasso da pacifichi].
65 Then Solomon made, at that time, a celebratory festival, and all of Israel with him, a great multitude, from the entrance of Hamath to the river of Egypt, in the sight of the Lord our God, for seven days plus seven days, that is, fourteen days.	65 E fece Salomone in quello tempo una festa solenne, e tutto Israel con esso lui, grande moltitudine dall'entrata di Emat insino al rivo d' Egitto, nel cospetto del nostro Signore Iddio, sette e sette dì, cioè XIIII dì.
66 And on the eighth day, he dismissed the people. And blessing the king, they set out for their tents, rejoicing and cheerful in heart over all the good things that the Lord had done for his servant David and for his people Israel.	66 E nell'ottavo dì licenziò il popolo; il quale benedicendo il re, ritornarono alle case loro, rallegrandosi con lieto cuore per tutti i beni che [Iddio] avea fatto a David servo suo e ad Israel popolo suo.
