1 On the twelfth day of the tenth month in the tenth year, the word of the LORD came to me:	1 En la dixième année, le 12 du dixième mois, cette parole de Yahvé me fut adressée:
2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.	2 “Fils d’homme, parle pour Pharaon, le roi d’Égypte, et prophétise contre lui et contre toute l’Égypte.
3 Say this to him: Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at you, Pharaoh, king of Egypt, Great crouching monster amidst your Niles: Who say, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them!"	3 Tu lui diras de la part de Yahvé: Je viens m’en prendre à toi, Pharaon, ( ) grand Dragon! Tu te prélasses entre tes canaux et tu dis: “Mes canaux sont à moi, c’est moi qui les ai creusés!”
4 I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your Niles stick to your scales, then draw you up from the midst of your Niles along with all the fish of your Niles sticking to your scales.	4 Mais je vais te planter des crocs dans la mâchoire et je te tirerai de tes canaux, toi et tous les poissons de tes canaux.
5 I will cast you into the desert, you and all the fish of your Niles; You shall fall upon the open field, you shall not be taken up or buried; To the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air I give you as food,	5 Je te jetterai sur la terre sèche, avec les poissons des canaux; tu resteras à plat sur la face du sol et tu ne seras ni relevé, ni ramassé. Je te donnerai en pâture aux bêtes de la terre et aux oiseaux du ciel.
6 That all who dwell in Egypt may know that I am the LORD. Because you have been a reed staff for the house of Israel:	6 Alors les habitants de l’Égypte sauront que je suis Yahvé. Tu n’as été qu’un roseau lorsque Israël cherchait un appui;
7 When they held you in hand, you splintered, throwing every shoulder out of joint; When they leaned on you, you broke, bringing each one of them down headlong;	7 lorsque mon peuple s’est accroché à toi, tu t’es brisé dans leur main et les as déchirés jusqu’à l’épaule; quand ils se sont appuyés sur toi, tu as cédé et leur as fait perdre l’équilibre.
8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I will bring the sword against you, and cut off from you both man and beast.	8 C’est pourquoi, voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je fais venir contre toi l’épée et je supprimerai chez toi hommes et bêtes.
9 The land of Egypt shall become a desolate waste; thus they shall know that I am the LORD. Because you said, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them,"	9 Le pays d’Égypte deviendra un désert, une ruine, et ils sauront que je suis Yahvé. Tu dis: “Le Nil est à moi, c’est moi qui l’ai fait.”
10 therefore see! I am coming at you and against your Niles; I will make the land of Egypt a waste and a desolation from Migdol to Syene, and even to the frontier of Ethiopia.	10 C’est pourquoi je t’en veux, à toi et à tes canaux; je ferai de l’Égypte un désert, une ruine, depuis Migdol jusqu’à Syène et la frontière d’Éthiopie.
11 No foot of man or beast shall pass through it; they shall not pass through it, and it will be uninhabited for forty years.	11 Hommes et bêtes n’y passeront plus, elle sera inhabitée durant quarante ans.
12 I will make the land of Egypt the most desolate of lands, and its cities shall be the most deserted of cities for forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.	12 Oui, je ferai de l’Égypte le plus dévasté des pays: ses villes seront pour quarante ans les plus saccagées des villes. Je disperserai les Égyptiens au milieu des nations, je les disséminerai dans tous les pays.
13 Yet thus says the Lord GOD: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they are scattered,	13 Mais voici ce que dit Yahvé: Après quarante ans je rassemblerai les Égyptiens du milieu des peuples où ils avaient été dispersés.
14 and I will restore Egypt's fortune, bringing them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, where it will be the lowliest	14 Je changerai leur sort et je les ramènerai au pays de Patros, leur pays d’origine; là ils formeront un royaume, le plus modeste
15 of kingdoms, never more to set itself above the nations. I will make them few, that they may not dominate the nations.	15 de tous ( ): il ne dominera plus les autres nations; je vais l’abaisser pour qu’il ne se dresse plus au-dessus des nations.
16 No longer shall they be for the house of Israel to trust in, but the living reminder of its guilt for having turned to follow after them. Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	16 Les gens d’Israël ne mettront plus en lui leur confiance, mais ils se rappelleront la faute qu’ils commettaient en se tournant vers l’Égypte; alors on saura que je suis Yahvé.
17 On the first day of the first month in the twenty-seventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:	17 En la vingt-septième année, le premier jour du premier mois, cette parole de Yahvé me fut adressée:
18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has led his army in an exhausting campaign against Tyre. Their heads became bald and their shoulders were galled; but neither he nor his army received any wages from Tyre for the campaign he led against it.	18 Fils d’homme, le siège de Tyr a été une entreprise difficile pour Nabukodonozor roi de Babylone et pour son armée; ses hommes y ont perdu leurs cheveux et sont revenus les épaules écorchées, mais ce siège de Tyr n’a rapporté aucun profit, ni pour lui, ni pour son armée.
19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I am now giving the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. He shall carry off its riches, plundering and pillaging it for the wages of his soldiers, who did it for me;	19 C’est pourquoi, voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je vais livrer l’Égypte aux mains de Nabukodonozor, roi de Babylone: il emportera ses richesses, ramassera ses dépouilles et la mettra au pillage: ce sera le salaire de son armée.
20 as payment for his toil I have given him the land of Egypt, says the Lord GOD.	20 Je lui donne l’Égypte pour la peine qu’il s’est donnée au siège de Tyr, car il a travaillé pour moi, parole de Yahvé.
21 On that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will cause you to speak out in their midst; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	21 En ce jour-là la maison d’Israël retrouvera sa force, et à toi, je te donnerai d’ouvrir la bouche au milieu d’eux. Alors on saura que je suis Yahvé.
