Jeremiah 16

1 This message came to me from the LORD:	1 Il Signore parlommi, dicendo:
2 Do not marry any woman; you shall not have sons or daughters in this place,	2 Tu non prenderai moglie, e non avrai figliuoli, né figlie in questo luogo;
3 for thus says the LORD concerning the sons and daughters who will be born in this place, the mothers who will give them birth, the fathers who will beget them in this land:	3 Imperocché queste cose dice il Signore sopra i figliuoli, e le figliuole, che verranno alla luce in questo luogo, e sopra le madri, che gli avran partoriti, e sopra i padri, da' quali saranno nati in questa terra,
4 Of deadly disease they shall die. Unlamented and unburied they will lie like dung on the ground. Sword and famine will make an end of them, and their corpses will become food for the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field.	4 Morranno di varj mali; e non saranno pianti, né seppelliti, saran come sterco sopra la terra, e saran consunti dalla spada, e dalla fame; e i loro cadaveri saran pasto degli uccelli dell'aria, e delle bestie della terra.
5 Go not into a house of mourning, the LORD continued: go not there to lament or offer sympathy. For I have withdrawn my friendship from this people, says the LORD, my kindness and my pity.	5 Imperocché queste cose dice il Signore: Tu non entrerai nella casa, dov'è convito, né anderai a piangere, e a far l'ufficio di consolazione: perocché io ho, tolta da questo popolo la mia pace, (dice il Signore) la misericordia, e la clemenza.
6 They shall die, the great and the lowly, in this land, and shall go unburied and unlamented. No one will gash himself or shave his head for them.	6 E moranno i grandi, e i piccoli in questa terra: non saranno seppelliti, né pianti, e niuno si farà incisioni, né si toserà i capelli per loro.
7 They will not break bread with the bereaved to console them in their bereavement; they will not give them the cup of consolation to drink over the death of father or mother.	7 Né alcuno tra loro spezzerà il pane per consolare colui, che piange un morto, e non gli daranno da bere per consolarlo della perdita del padre suo, e della madre.
8 Enter not a house where people are celebrating, to sit with them eating and drinking.	8 E non entrerai nella casa, dove sibanchetta per sedere in compagnia, emangiare, e bere;
9 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Before your very eyes and during your lifetime I will silence from this place the cry of joy and the cry of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.	9 Imperocché queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Ecco che io da questo luogo, veggenti voi, e ne' vostri giorni torro la voce di gaudio, la voce di letizia, i canti dello sposo, e i canti della sposa.
10 When you proclaim all these words to this people and they ask you: "Why has the LORD pronounced all these great evils against us? What is our crime? What sin have we committed against the LORD, our God?"--	10 E quando tu avrai annunziate a questo popolo tutte queste parole, ed ei ti diranno: Per qual motivo il Signore annunzia a noi tutto questo gran male? qual è mai la nostra iniquità? e qual è il nostro peccato, che abbiam commesso contro il Signore Dio nostro?
11 you shall answer them: It is because your fathers have forsaken me, says the LORD, and followed strange gods, which they served and worshiped; but me they have forsaken, and my law they have not observed.	11 Tu dirai loro: Perchè i padri vostri mi abbandonarono: dice il Signore; e andaron dietro a dei stranieri, e li servirono, e gli adorarono abbandonaron me, e non osservarono la mia legge.
12 And you have done worse than your fathers. Here you are, every one of you, walking in the hardness of his evil heart instead of listening to me.	12 Ma voi ancora avete fatto peggio, che i padri vostri: imperocché ecco, che ognun di voi va dietro alla corruzione del cattivo suo cuore, per non dar retta a me.
13 I will cast you out of this land into a land that neither you nor your fathers have known; there you can serve strange gods day and night, because I will not grant you my mercy.	13 Ed io vi caccerò da questa terra ad un'altra non conosciuta da voi, né da' padri vostri: ed ivi servirete dì, e notte a' dei stranieri, i quali non vi daranno requie.
14 However, days will surely come, says the LORD, when it will no longer be said, "As the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites out of Egypt";	14 Per questo ecco, che viene il tempo, dice il Signore, quando non si dirà più: Vive il Signore, che trasse i figliuoli d'Israele dalla terra d'Egitto,
15 but rather, "As the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites out of the land of the north and out of all the countries to which he had banished them." I will bring them back to the land which I gave their fathers.	15 Ma: Vive il Signore, che ha tratti i figliuoli d'Israele dalla terra di settentrione, e da tutti i paesi, pe' quali io gli avrò dispersi, e li ricondurrò nella loro terra data da me a' loro padri.
16 Look! I will send many fishermen, says the LORD, to catch them. After that, I will send many hunters to hunt them out from every mountain and hill and from the clefts of the rocks.	16 Ecco, che io manderò molti pescatori, dice il Signore, i quali li pescheranno; e dipoi manderò loro molti cacciatori, i quali anderanno a caccia di essi per tutti i monti, e per tutti i colli, e nelle tane de' massi;
17 For my eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor does their guilt escape my view.	17 Imperocché gli occhi miei osservano tutti i loro passi; e nulla n'è ascoso a' miei sguardi, come non fu ascosa agli occhi miei la loro iniquità.
18 I will at once repay them double for their crime and their sin of profaning my land with their detestable corpses of idols, and filling my heritage with their abominations.	18 E prima io renderò il contraccambio alle duplicate iniquità, e peccati loro: perocché hanno contaminato la mia terra co' corpi de' morti sagrificati a' loro idoli, e han ripiena delle loro abbominazioni la mia eredità.
19 O LORD, my strength, my fortress, my refuge in the day of distress! To you will the nations come from the ends of the earth, and say, "Mere frauds are the heritage of our fathers, empty idols of no use."	19 Signore mia fortezza, mio sostegno, e mio rifugio nel giorno della tribolazione: a te veranno le genti da' confini ultimi della terra, e diranno: Veramente i padri nostri ereditarono la menzogna, e la vanità, che nulla ad essi giovò.
20 Can man make for himself gods? These are not gods.	20 Forse l'uomo potrà fare i suoi dei? Ed egli stesso non è un dio.
21 Look, then: I will give them knowledge; this time I will leave them in no doubt Of my strength and my power: they shall know that my name is LORD.	21 Per questo ecco, che io mostrerò loro questa volta, mostrerò loro la mia possanza, e la mia virtù, e conosceranno, che io ho nome il Signore.
