1 The LORD called Moses, and from the meeting tent gave him this message:	1 Yahvé appela Moïse et, de la Tente du Rendez-Vous, il lui dit:
2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any one of you wishes to bring an animal offering to the LORD, such an offering must be from the herd or from the flock.	2 “Voici ce que tu diras aux Israélites: Lorsque l’un d’entre vous fera une offrande à Yahvé, ce sera du bétail qu’il offrira: du gros ou du petit bétail.
3 "If his holocaust offering is from the herd, it must be a male without blemish. To find favor with the LORD, he shall bring it to the entrance of the meeting tent	3 S’il veut offrir un sacrifice totalement consumé (un “holocauste”) de gros bétail, il viendra présenter à l’entrée de la Tente du Rendez-Vous le mâle sans défaut qu’il aura choisi, et ainsi son sacrifice sera agréable à Yahvé.
4 and there lay his hand on the head of the holocaust, so that it may be acceptable to make atonement for him.	4 Il posera sa main sur la tête de la victime, et le sacrifice sera accepté en sa faveur pour l’expiation de ses péchés.
5 He shall then slaughter the bull before the LORD, but Aaron's sons, the priests, shall offer up its blood by splashing it on the sides of the altar which is at the entrance of the meeting tent.	5 Il égorgera le jeune taureau devant Yahvé, et les prêtres, fils d’Aaron, offriront le sang. Ils le répandront tout autour et sur l’autel qui est à l’entrée de la Tente du Rendez-Vous.
6 Then he shall skin the holocaust and cut it up into pieces.	6 On dépouillera alors la victime et on la découpera en morceaux.
7 After Aaron's sons, the priests, have put some burning embers on the altar and laid some wood on them,	7 Les fils du prêtre Aaron allumeront le feu sur l’autel et mettront le bois par-dessus des braises.
8 they shall lay the pieces of meat, together with the head and the suet, on top of the wood and embers on the altar.	8 Puis les prêtres, fils d’Aaron, disposeront les morceaux avec la tête et les boyaux sur le bois placé sur le feu de l’autel.
9 The inner organs and the shanks, however, the offerer shall first wash with water. The priest shall then burn the whole offering on the altar as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.	9 On lavera à l’eau les entrailles et les jambes, et le prêtre fera brûler le tout sur l’autel. C’est un holocauste, un sacrifice par le feu d’une agréable odeur à Yahvé.
10 "If his holocaust offering is from the flock, that is, a sheep or a goat, he must bring a male without blemish.	10 S’il s’agit d’une offrande de petit bétail, un holocauste d’agneau ou de chèvre, on offrira un mâle sans défaut.
11 This he shall slaughter before the LORD at the north side of the altar. Then Aaron's sons, the priests, shall splash its blood on the sides of the altar.	11 On l’égorgera du côté nord de l’autel, devant Yahvé, et les prêtres, fils d’Aaron, en répandront le sang sur l’autel et autour.
12 When the offerer has cut it up into pieces, the priest shall lay these, together with the head and suet, on top of the wood and the fire on the altar.	12 On le découpera en morceaux, avec la tête et les boyaux, puis le prêtre les disposera sur le bois placé sur le feu de l’autel.
13 The inner organs and the shanks, however, the offerer shall first wash with water. The priest shall offer them up and then burn the whole offering on the altar as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.	13 On lavera à l’eau les entrailles et les jambes, et le prêtre offrira le tout et le fera brûler sur l’autel. C’est un holocauste, un sacrifice par le feu d’agréable odeur à Yahvé.
14 "If he offers a bird as a holocaust to the LORD, he shall choose a turtledove or a pigeon as his offering.	14 Si l’offrande à Yahvé est un holocauste d’oiseaux, on offrira des tourterelles ou de jeunes pigeons.
15 Having brought it to the altar where it is to be burned, the priest shall snap its head loose and squeeze out its blood against the side of the altar.	15 Le prêtre apportera l’oiseau à l’autel, il lui pincera le cou, puis le fera brûler sur l’autel. Quant au sang, il s’écoulera sur le côté de l’autel.
16 Its crop and feathers shall be removed and thrown on the ash heap at the east side of the altar.	16 On enlèvera le jabot avec les plumes, et on jettera le tout à côté de l’autel, à l’orient, près des cendres.
17 Then, having split the bird down the middle without separating the halves, the priest shall burn it on the altar, over the wood on the fire, as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.	17 On fera une fente entre les ailes, mais sans les séparer, et le prêtre le fera fumer sur l’autel, sur le bois disposé sur le feu. C’est un holocauste, un sacrifice par le feu d’agréable odeur à Yahvé.
