1 Oracle on Egypt: See, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud on his way to Egypt; The idols of Egypt tremble before him, the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them.	1 - Vaticinio sull'Egitto. Ecco che il Signore monterà sopra una nube leggera, ed entrerà in Egitto; e al suo apparire si commoveranno i simulacri di Egitto e gli egiziani si sentiranno mancare in petto il cuore.
2 I will rouse Egypt against Egypt: brother will war against brother, Neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kindgom.	2 E farò correre [all'armi] egiziani contro egiziani, e il fratello combatterà contro il fratello, e l'amico contro l'amico: città con città e regno con regno.
3 The courage of the Egyptians ebbs away within them, and I will bring to nought their counsel; They shall consult idols and charmers, ghosts and spirits.	3 E lo spirito degli Egiziani sarà schiantato dentro alle loro viscere, e manderò a precipizio i loro consigli; e consulteranno i loro simulacri e gli indovini, gli stregoni e i maghi.
4 I will deliver Egypt into the power of a cruel master, A harsh king who shall rule over them, says the Lord, the LORD of hosts.	4 E consegnerò gli Egiziani in mano di padroni crudeli, e un re forte li dominerà, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
5 The waters shall be drained from the sea, the river shall shrivel and dry up;	5 E si asciugherà l'acqua del mare, e il fiume sarà nella desolazione e si seccherà.
6 Its streams shall become foul, and the canals of Egypt shall dwindle and dry up. Reeds and rushes shall wither away,	6 E i fiumi ristagneranno, e caleranno e seccheranno i canali arginati.
7 and bulrushes on the bank of the Nile; All the sown land along the Nile shall dry up and blow away, and be no more.	7 I canneti e le giuncaie appassiranno: l'alveo del fiume resterà scoperto fino alla sorgente, e tutti i seminati delle terre irrigate seccheranno, inaridiranno e non faranno nulla.
8 The fishermen shall mourn and lament, all who cast hook in the Nile; Those who spread their nets in the water shall pine away.	8 E i pescatori saranno afflitti, piangeranno tutti quelli che gettano l'amo nel fiume; e i tenditori di rete sulla superficie delle acque, languiranno.
9 The linen-workers shall be disappointed, the combers and weavers shall turn pale;	9 Quelli che lavoravano il lino, pettinandolo e tessendolo in finissime tele, resteranno confusi,
10 The spinners shall be crushed, all the hired laborers shall be despondent.	10 e languiranno i prati irrigui d'Egitto, e tutti quelli che facevano le chiuse per pigliar pesci.
11 Utter fools are the princes of Zoan! the wisest of Pharaoh's advisers give stupid counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh, "I am a disciple of wise men, of ancient kings"?	11 I principi di Tanis sono stolti, i sapienti che fanno da consiglieri al Faraone hanno dato un consiglio insipiente. Come dite al Faraone: «Io sono figlio di sapienti, sono prole di antichi re?».
12 Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you and make known What the LORD of hosts has planned against Egypt.	12 Dove sono dunque i tuoi sapienti? ti annunzino e ti indichino essi il consiglio che il Signore degli eserciti ha pensato contro all'Egitto.
13 The princes of Zoan have become fools, the princes of Memphis have been deceived. The chiefs of her tribes have led Egypt astray.	13 I principi di Tanis sono diventati stolti, i principi di Memfi sono insaniti, hanno ingannato l'Egitto, la pietra angolare delle sue genti.
14 The LORD has prepared among them a spirit of dizziness, And they have made Egypt stagger in whatever she does, as a drunkard staggers in his vomit.	14 Il Signore ha diffuso in mezzo a loro uno spirito di stordimento, ed essi hanno fatto errare l'Egitto in tutto quello che ha fatto, come un ubriaco che va barcollando, in mezzo al suo vomito.

16 On that day the Egyptians shall be like women, trembling with fear, because of the LORD of hosts shaking his fist at them.	16 E in quel giorno gli Egiziani diverranno come donne, e saranno nello sbalordimento e nel terrore dinanzi alla mano minacciosa del Signore degli eserciti, che vedranno scuotere sopra di essi.
17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror to the Egyptians. Every time they remember Judah, they shall stand in dread because of the plan which the LORD of hosts has in mind for them.	17 E la terra di Giuda sarà causa di spavento per l'Egitto: al solo ricordarla ognuno tremerà dinanzi al consiglio che il Signore degli eserciti ha preso sopra di essa.
18 On that day there shall be five cities in the land of Egypt speaking the language of Canaan and swearing by the LORD of hosts; one shall be called "City of the Sun."	18 In quel giorno vi saranno nella terra di Egitto cinque città, che parleranno la lingua di Canaan e giureranno nel Signore degli eserciti, una si chiamerà Città del sole.
19 On that day there shall be an altar to the LORD in the land of Egypt, and a sacred pillar to the LORD near the boundary.	19 In quel giorno nel mezzo del paese d'Egitto, vi sarà un altare del Signore, e presso alla sua frontiera, un monumento al Signore
20 It shall be a sign and a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt, when they cry out to the LORD against their oppressors, and he sends them a savior to defend and deliver them.	20 sarà un segno e un testimonio del Signore degli eserciti nella terra di Egitto. Perchè così grideranno verso il Signore di fronte all'oppressore, e manderà loro un salvatore e un difensore che li libererà.
21 The LORD shall make himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day; they shall offer sacrifices and oblations, and fulfill the vows they make to the LORD.	21 E il Signore sarà conosciuto dall'Egitto, e verrà giorno che gli Egiziani lo conosceranno e gli presteranno culto con sacrifici e offerte e faranno voti al Signore e li adempiranno.
22 Although the LORD shall smite Egypt severely, he shall heal them; they shall turn to the LORD and he shall be won over and heal them.	22 E il Signore percuoterà con piaghe l'Egitto, e poi lo sanerà e si convertiranno al Signore; e si placherà con essi e li sanerà.
23 On that day there shall be a highway from Egypt to Assyria; the Assyrians shall enter Egypt, and the Egyptians enter Assyria, and Egypt shall serve Assyria.	23 In quel giorno vi sarà la via aperta dall'Egitto all'Assiria; e l'Assiro entrerà in Egitto e l'Egiziano nell'Assiria, ed Egiziani ed Assiri serviranno [il Signore].
24 On that day Israel shall be a third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the land,	24 In quel giorno Israele sarà terzo coll'Egizio e l'Assiro: benedizione in mezzo alla terra,
25 when the LORD of hosts blesses it: "Blessed be my people Egypt, and the work of my hands Assyria, and my inheritance, Israel."	25 a cui benedirà il Signore dicendo: «Benedetto il popolo mio dell'Egitto, e l'Assiro che è opera delle mie mani, e Israele mia eredità».
