For the leader; "upon the gittith." A psalm of the Korahites. | 1 Magistro chori. Secundum " Torcularia ". Filiorum Core. Psalmus. |
How lovely your dwelling, O LORD of hosts! | 2 Quam dilecta tabernacula tua, Domine virtutum! |
My soul yearns and pines for the courts of the LORD. My heart and flesh cry out for the living God. | 3 Concupiscit et deficit anima mea in atria Domini. Cor meum et caro mea exsultaverunt in Deum vivum. |
As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, My home is by your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God! | 4 Etenim passer invenit sibi domum, et turtur nidum sibi, ubi ponat pullos suos: altaria tua, Domine virtutum, rex meus et Deus meus. |
Happy are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise you. Selah | 5 Beati, qui habitant in domo tua: in perpetuum laudabunt te. |
Happy are those who find refuge in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrim roads. | 6 Beatus vir, cuius est auxilium abs te, ascensiones in corde suo disposuit. |
As they pass through the Baca valley, they find spring water to drink. Also from pools the Lord provides water for those who lose their way. | 7 Transeuntes per vallem sitientem in fontem ponent eam, etenim benedictionibus vestiet eam pluvia matutina. |
They pass through outer and inner wall and see the God of gods on Zion. | 8 Ibunt de virtute in virtutem, videbitur Deus deorum in Sion. |
LORD of hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah | 9 Domine, Deus virtutum, exaudi orationem meam; auribus percipe, Deus Iacob. |
O God, look kindly on our shield; look upon the face of your anointed. | 10 Protector noster aspice, Deus, et respice in faciem christi tui. |
Better one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. Better the threshold of the house of my God than a home in the tents of the wicked. | 11 Quia melior est dies una in atriis tuis super milia, elegi ad limen esse in domo Dei mei magis quam habitare in tabernaculis peccatorum. |
For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory. The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach. | 12 Quia sol et scutum est Dominus Deus, gratiam et gloriam dabit Dominus; non privabit bonis eos, qui ambulant in innocentia. |
O LORD of hosts, happy are those who trust in you! | 13 Domine virtutum, beatus homo, qui sperat in te. |
