For the leader. A psalm of David. A song.1 [For the choirmaster Psalm Of David Song] Praise is rightful y yours, God, in Zion. Vows to you shallbe fulfil ed,
To you we owe our hymn of praise, O God on Zion; To you our vows must be fulfilled,2 for you answer prayer. All humanity must come to you
you who hear our prayers. To you all flesh must come3 with its sinful deeds. Our faults overwhelm us, but you blot them out.
with its burden of wicked deeds. We are overcome by our sins; only you can pardon them.4 How blessed those whom you choose and invite to dwell in your courts. We shal be filled with thegood things of your house, of your holy temple.
Happy the chosen ones you bring to dwell in your courts. May we be filled with the good things of your house, the blessings of your holy temple!5 You respond to us with the marvels of your saving justice, God our Saviour, hope of the whole wideworld, even the distant islands.
You answer us with awesome deeds of justice, O God our savior, The hope of all the ends of the earth and of far distant islands.6 By your strength you hold the mountains steady, being clothed in power,
You are robed in power, you set up the mountains by your might.7 you calm the turmoil of the seas, the turmoil of their waves. The nations are in uproar, in panic thosewho live at the ends of the earth;
You still the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples.8 your miracles bring shouts of joy to the gateways of morning and evening.
Distant peoples stand in awe of your marvels; east and west you make resound with joy.9 You visit the earth and make it fruitful, you fill it with riches; the river of God brims over with water, youprovide the grain. To that end
You visit the earth and water it, make it abundantly fertile. God's stream is filled with water; with it you supply the world with grain. Thus do you prepare the earth:10 you water its furrows abundantly, level its ridges, soften it with showers and bless its shoots.
you drench plowed furrows, and level their ridges. With showers you keep the ground soft, blessing its young sprouts.11 You crown the year with your generosity, richness seeps from your tracks,
You adorn the year with your bounty; your paths drip with fruitful rain.12 the pastures of the desert grow moist, the hillsides are wrapped in joy,
The untilled meadows also drip; the hills are robed with joy.13 the meadows are covered with flocks, the val eys clothed with wheat; they shout and sing for joy.
The pastures are clothed with flocks, the valleys blanketed with grain; they cheer and sing for joy.
