1 At this my heart trembles and leaps out of its place,	1 Sopra questo spaventoe lo mio cuore, ed è mosso del suo luogo.
2 To hear his angry voice as it rumbles forth from his mouth!	2 Udite quello che si dice nel terrore della boce sua, e lo suono della bocca sua procedente.
3 Everywhere under the heavens he sends it, with his lightning, to the ends of the earth.	3 Sotto ogni cielo elli considera, e lo lume suo sopra li termini della terra.
4 Again his voice roars-- the majestic sound of his thunder.	4 Dopo lui ruggirà lo suono, e tonerà colla voce della sua grandezza; e non s' investigherà, quando udita sarà la voce sua.
5 He does great things beyond our knowing; wonders past our searching out.	5 Tuonerà Iddio nella voce sua maravigliosamente, il quale fae le grandi cose e da non cercare.
6 For he says to the snow, "Fall to the earth"; likewise to his heavy, drenching rain.	6 Il quale comanda alla neve, ch' ella scenda in terra, e alle piove del verno, e alli venti piovali della sua fortezza.
7 He shuts up all mankind indoors;	7 Il quale segna nelle mani d'ogni uomo, acciò che ciascuno conosca li suoi lavorii.
8 the wild beasts take to cover and remain quietly in their dens.	8 Vada la bestia nello buco suo, e nella spelonca sua si stia.
9 Out of its chamber comes forth the tempest; from the north winds, the cold.	9 Dalle cose più dentro viene la tempesta; dalla parte settentrionale lo freddo.
10 With his breath God brings the frost, and the broad waters become congealed.	10 Soffiante Iddio, cresce lo freddo; e da capo le altissime acque sono sparte.
11 With hail, also, the clouds are laden, as they scatter their flashes of light.	11 Lo grano desidera li nuvoli, e li nuvoli spargono lo suo lume.
12 He it is who changes their rounds, according to his plans, in their task upon the surface of the earth,	12 Li quali risplendono intorno in ciascuna parte, dove la volontà dello governante mena loro, ad ogni cosa che comanderae a loro sopra la faccia del mondo delle terre;
13 whether for punishment or mercy, as he commands.	13 ovvero in una schiatta, ovvero nella sua terra, ovvero in qualunque luogo della sua misericordia lui comanda ch' egli sieno trovati.
14 Hearken to this, O Job! Stand and consider the wondrous works of God!	14 Ascolta queste cose, Iob; sta, e considera le maraviglie di Dio.
15 Do you know how God lays his commands upon them, and makes the light shine forth from his clouds?	15 Or sai tu, quando comanderà Iddio alle piove, ch' elle mostrino la luce delli suoi nuvoli?
16 Do you know how the clouds are banked, the wondrous work of him who is perfect in knowledge?	16 Or sai tu li gran sentieri delli nuvoli, e le perfette scienze?
17 You, whom the streams of water fail when a calm from the south comes over the land,	17 E non sono li vestimenti tuoi caldi, quando percossa sarà la terra dallo austro? (cioè vento).
18 Do you spread out with him the firmament of the skies, hard as a brazen mirror?	18 Forse che tu fabbricasti li cieli con lui, li quali sono sparti, sodi quasi come di bronzo?
19 Teach us then what we shall say to him; we cannot, for the darkness, make our plea.	19 Mostra a noi quello che noi diciamo a lui; in verità noi ci volgiamo nelle tenebre.
20 Will he be told about it when I speak, or when a man says he is being destroyed?	20 Chi narrerà a lui quelle cose ch' io favello? e già se l' uomo favellerà, sarà divorato.
21 Nay, rather, it is as the light which men see not while it is obscured among the clouds, till the wind comes by and sweeps the clouds away.	21 Ma ora non vedono luce; sùbito l'aere sarà costretto in nuvoli, e lo vento trapassante scaccerà quelle.
22 From the North the splendor comes, surrounding God's awesome majesty!	22 Dall' acquilone viene l'oro, e a Dio la paurosa lode.
23 The Almighty! we cannot discover him, pre-eminent in power and judgment; his great justice owes no one an accounting.	23 Degnamente lui trovare non possiamo; grande è di forza e di giudicio e di giustizia, e narrare non si puote.
24 Therefore men revere him, though none can see him, however wise their hearts.	24 Perciò temeranno lui gli uomini, e non ardiranno di contemplare tutti coloro che credono sè essere savii.
