1 [Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal garments and stood in the inner courtyard, looking toward the royal palace, while the king was seated on his royal throne in the audience chamber, facing the palace doorway.	1 "Che hai, Ester? Io sono tuo fratello. Sta' di buon animo: non morrai! Il nostro ordine è solo per la gente comune. Avvicìnati".
2 He saw Queen Esther standing in the courtyard, and made her welcome by extending toward her the golden staff which he held. She came up to him, and touched the top of the staff.]	2 Mentre parlava, ella venne meno. Il re si turbò e tutti i ministri cercavano di rianimarla.
3 Then the king said to her, "What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? Even if it is half of my kingdom, it shall be granted you."	3 Il re le disse: "Che cosa c'è, regina Ester? Quale richiesta hai da farmi? Io ti darò fino alla metà del mio regno".
4 "If it please your majesty," Esther replied, "come today with Haman to a banquet I have prepared."	4 Ester rispose: "Se sembrerà bene al re, venga il re e Aman, oggi, al banchetto che ho preparato per lui".
5 And the king ordered, "Have Haman make haste to fulfill the wish of Esther." So the king went with Haman to the banquet Esther had prepared.	5 Il re disse: "Affrettatevi a cercare Aman, per fare quello che ha detto Ester", e il re e Aman vennero al banchetto che aveva preparato Ester.
6 During the drinking of the wine, the king said to Esther, "Whatever you ask for shall be granted, and whatever request you make shall be honored, even if it is for half my kingdom."	6 Mentre si beveva il vino, il re disse ad Ester: "Qual è la tua richiesta? Ti sarà concessa! Qual è il tuo desiderio? Fino alla metà del mio regno ti sarà concesso!".
7 Esther replied: "This is my petition and request:	7 Ester rispose e disse: "La mia domanda, la mia richiesta...
8 if I have found favor with the king and if it pleases your majesty to grant my petition and honor my request, come with Haman tomorrow to a banquet which I shall prepare for you; and then I will do as you ask."	8 se ho trovato grazia agli occhi del re e se sembra bene al re di concedermi quanto domando e di eseguire la mia richiesta, venga il re e Aman anche domani al banchetto che io farò per essi, e io risponderò alla domanda del re".
9 That day Haman left happy and in good spirits. But when he saw that Mordecai at the royal gate did not rise, and showed no fear of him, he was filled with anger toward him.	9 Aman quel giorno uscì tutto allegro e di buon umore, ma quando alla porta del re vide Mardocheo, che non si alzava e non si muoveva al suo passaggio, fu pieno di ira verso di lui.
10 Haman restrained himself, however, and went home, where he summoned his friends and his wife Zeresh.	10 Tuttavia Aman si dominò, andò a casa sua e fece chiamare i suoi fedeli e Zeres, sua moglie,
11 He recounted the greatness of his riches, the large number of his sons, and just how the king had promoted him and placed him above the officials and royal servants.	11 parlò loro dello splendore della sua ricchezza, dei suoi numerosi figli e di come il re lo avesse promosso, elevandolo al di sopra dei prìncipi e dei ministri del re.
12 "Moreover," Haman added, "Queen Esther invited no one but me to the banquet with the king; again tomorrow I am to be her guest, with the king.	12 Aggiunse ancora Aman: "La regina Ester non ha invitato che me al banchetto insieme con il re, e anche domani io sono invitato da lei con il re.
13 Yet none of this satisfies me as long as I continue to see the Jew Mordecai sitting at the royal gate."	13 Ma tutto questo mi è indifferente ogni volta che io vedo Mardocheo, l'ebreo che siede alla porta del re".
14 His wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, "Have a gibbet set up, fifty cubits in height, and in the morning ask the king to have Mordecai hanged on it. Then go to the banquet with the king in good cheer." This suggestion pleased Haman, and he had the gibbet erected.	14 La moglie Zeres e i suoi fedeli gli dissero: "Si faccia un patibolo alto cinquanta cubiti e domattina parlane al re e vi si impicchi Mardocheo; va' poi contento al banchetto con il re". Piacque la cosa ad Aman e fu preparato il patibolo.
