Isaiah 55

1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.	1 Holà, vous tous qui avez soif, venez vers les eaux! Et vous qui êtes sans argent, venez, achetez et mangez! Venez, achetez sans argent, sans payer, du vin et du lait.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.	2 Pourquoi dépenser pour ce qui n’est pas du pain, donner votre salaire pour ce qui ne nourrit pas? Écoutez-moi bien, et vous mangerez ce qui est bon, vous ferez un festin des meilleurs.
3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.	3 Tendez l’oreille et venez vers moi, écoutez, et vous retrouverez vie. Je ferai avec vous une alliance éternelle, je vous accorderai les bienfaits promis à David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.	4 Car j’ai fait de lui un témoin pour les peuples, un chef pour commander aux peuples.
5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.	5 Tu vas appeler une nation que tu ne connaissais pas; une nation qui ne te connaissait pas accourra vers toi à cause de Yahvé ton Dieu, à cause du Saint d’Israël qui t’a confié cette charge.
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:	6 Cherchez Yahvé pendant qu’il se laisse trouver, tournez-vous vers lui alors qu’il est proche.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.	7 Que le méchant abandonne sa voie et l’homme injuste ses pensées; qu’ils reviennent vers Yahvé qui aura pitié d’eux, vers notre Dieu qui est riche en pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.	8 Car mes pensées ne sont pas vos pensées, et vos chemins ne sont pas mes chemins - parole de Yahvé.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.	9 Autant le ciel est élevé au-dessus de la terre, autant mes chemins sont élevés au-dessus des vôtres, et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées.
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:	10 De même que la pluie et la neige tombent du ciel et n’y retournent pas sans avoir arrosé la terre, sans l’avoir fécondée et fait germer pour qu’elle donne la semence au semeur et le pain à celui qui mange,
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.	11 de même la parole qui sort de ma bouche ne revient pas à moi sans effet, sans avoir accompli ma volonté et réalisé ce pour quoi je l’ai envoyée.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.	12 Oui, vous sortirez dans la joie, on vous ramènera en paix. Buttes et monts pour vous crieront de joie, et tous les arbres des champs applaudiront.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.	13 Le cyprès se lèvera à la place du buisson, et l’on verra le myrte à la place de l’ortie; ce sera un honneur pour Yahvé, un signe éternel qui ne disparaîtra pas.
