Proverbs 4

1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.	1 Escuchad, hijos, la instrucción del padre, estad atentos para aprender inteligencia,
2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.	2 porque es buena la doctrina que os enseño; no abandonéis mi lección.
3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.	3 También yo fui hijo para mi padre, tierno y querido a los ojos de mi madre,
4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.	4 El me enseñaba y me decía: «Retén mis palabras en tu corazón, guarda mis mandatos y vivirás.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.	5 Adquiere la sabiduría, adquiere la inteligencia, no la olvides, no te apartes de los dichos de mi boca.
6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.	6 No la abandones y ella te guardará, ámala y ella será tu defensa.
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.	7 El comienzo de la sabiduría es: adquiere la sabiduría, a costa de todos tus bienes adquiere la inteligencia.
8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.	8 Haz acopio de ella, y ella te ensalzará; ella te honrará, si tú la abrazas;
9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.	9 pondrá en tu cabeza una diadema de gracia, una espléndida corona será tu regalo».
10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.	10 Escucha, hijo mío, recibe mis palabras, y los años de tu vida se te multiplicarán.
11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.	11 En el camino de la sabiduría te he instruido, te he encaminado por los senderos de la rectitud.
12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.	12 Al andar no se enredarán tus pasos, y si corres, no tropezarás.
13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.	13 Aférrate a la instrucción, no la sueltes; guárdala, que es tu vida.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.	14 No te metas por la senda de los perversos, ni vayas por el camino de los malvados.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.	15 Evítalo, no pases por él, apártate de él, pasa adelante.
16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.	16 Porque ésos no duermen si no obran el mal, se les quita el sueño si no han hecho caer a alguno.
17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.	17 Es que su pan es pan de maldad, y vino de violencia es su bebida.
18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.	18 La senda de los justos es como la luz del alba, que va en aumento hasta llegar a pleno día.
19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.	19 Pero el camino de los malos es como tinieblas, no saben dónde han tropezado.
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.	20 Atiende, hijo mío, a mis palabras, inclina tu oído a mis razones.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.	21 No las apartes de tus ojos, guárdalas dentro de tu corazón.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.	22 Porque son vida para los que las encuentran, y curación para toda carne.
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.	23 Por encima de todo cuidado, guarda tu corazón, porque de él brotan las fuentes de la vida.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.	24 Aparta de ti la falsía de la boca y el enredo de los labios arrójalo de ti.
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.	25 Miren de frente tus ojos, tus párpados derechos a lo que está ante tí.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.	26 Tantea bien el sendero de tus pies y sean firmes todos tus caminos.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.	27 No te tuerzas ni a derecha ni a izquierda, aparta tu pie de la maldad.
