Proverbs 19

1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.	1 - Meglio un povero che cammina colla sua semplicità d'un ricco che torce le sue labbra e che sia stolto.
2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.	2 Dove non c'è coscienza di sè non c'è il bene, e chi è frettoloso nei passi, inciampa.
3 The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.	3 L'imprudenza dell'uomo manda a rovescio i suoi piani, e poi irrita il suo cuore contro Dio.
4 Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.	4 Le ricchezze attirano amici in gran copia e dal povero, anche gli amici che aveva, se ne discostano.
5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.	5 Il falso testimonio non andrà impunito, e chi dice menzogna non la scamperà.
6 Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.	6 Molti corteggiano la persona del potente e sono amici dell'uomo che dà.
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.	7 I fratelli dell'uomo povero l'hanno preso in avversione, quanto più gli amici se ne saranno allontanati! Chi va dietro alle ciance non avrà mai nulla.
8 He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.	8 Chi fa acquisto di senno ama se stesso, e chi fa tesoro di prudenza se ne troverà bene.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.	9 Il testimonio falso non uscirà netto, e chi dice menzogne perirà.
10 Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.	10 Non istà bene uno stolto tra gli agi, nè che un servo spadroneggi tra i signori.
11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.	11 Dalla pazienza si conosce l'istruzione dell'uomo ed è sua gloria passare sopra le offese.
12 The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.	12 Come il ruggito del leone, così l'ira del re, e quale la rugiada sull'erba, così il suo viso rasserenato.
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.	13 Il figlio stolto è il cruccio di suo padre e un tetto che continua a sgocciolare, una donna leticona.
14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers and a prudent wife is from the LORD.	14 La casa e le sostanze sono date dai parenti, ma proprio da Dio la moglie savia.
15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.	15 La pigrizia fa pigliar la sonnolenza, e l'anima fiacca patirà la fame.
16 He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.	16 Chi custodisce il precetto, custodisce l'anima sua; chi disprezza le sue vie, a morte s'incammina.
17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.	17 Chi fa la carità al mendico presta a Dio, che gli renderà il contraccambio.
18 Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.	18 Correggi il tuo figliuolo e non disperare, e non metterti in animo di vederlo morto.
19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.	19 Chi presto s'adira pagherà l'ammenda, e se viene alla violenza, più glie se ne aggiungerà.
20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.	20 Ascolta il consiglio e ricevi la correzionese vuoi essere savio in avvenire.
21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.	21 Nel cuore umano vi sono propositi assai, ma è la volontà di Dio quella che prevale.
22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.	22 L'uomo che ha provato il bisogno, diventa compassionevole, quindi è meglio un povero, che un uomo finto.
23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.	23 Il timor di Dio conduce alla vita e nell'abbondanza dimora senza che lo visiti il male.
24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.	24 Il pigro mette la sua mano sotto l'ascella, neppur per portarsela alla bocca la tirerà fuori.
25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.	25 Se batti l'insolente, anche l'ingenuo si fa accorto, e se riprendi un sapiente, avrà di che imparare.
26 He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.	26 Chi maltratta il padre e scaccia la madreè un infame e un disgraziato.
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.	27 Non stancarti, figliuolo, di udire insegnamentie non essere ignaro delle massime della scienza.
28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.	28 Il testimonio iniquo si piglia giuoco della giustizia, e la bocca degli empi trova il suo pascolo nel delitto.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.	29 Le pene stanno preparate pei furfanti e i colpi di staffile per la pelle degli stolti.
