KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.1 In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth,
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.2 the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.3 Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.4 God saw how good the light was. God then separated the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." Thus evening came, and morning followed--the first day.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.6 Then God said, "Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters, to separate one body of water from the other." And so it happened:
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.7 God made the dome, and it separated the water above the dome from the water below it.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.8 God called the dome "the sky." Evening came, and morning followed--the second day.
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.9 Then God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered into a single basin, so that the dry land may appear." And so it happened: the water under the sky was gathered into its basin, and the dry land appeared.
And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.10 God called the dry land "the earth," and the basin of the water he called "the sea." God saw how good it was.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.11 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth vegetation: every kind of plant that bears seed and every kind of fruit tree on earth that bears fruit with its seed in it." And so it happened:
And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.12 the earth brought forth every kind of plant that bears seed and every kind of fruit tree on earth that bears fruit with its seed in it. God saw how good it was.
And the evening and the morning were the third day.13 Evening came, and morning followed--the third day.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:14 Then God said: "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky, to separate day from night. Let them mark the fixed times, the days and the years,
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.15 and serve as luminaries in the dome of the sky, to shed light upon the earth." And so it happened:
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.16 God made the two great lights, the greater one to govern the day, and the lesser one to govern the night; and he made the stars.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,17 God set them in the dome of the sky, to shed light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. God saw how good it was.
And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.19 Evening came, and morning followed--the fourth day.
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.20 Then God said, "Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures, and on the earth let birds fly beneath the dome of the sky." And so it happened:
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.21 God created the great sea monsters and all kinds of swimming creatures with which the water teems, and all kinds of winged birds. God saw how good it was,
And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.22 and God blessed them, saying, "Be fertile, multiply, and fill the water of the seas; and let the birds multiply on the earth."
And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.23 Evening came, and morning followed--the fifth day.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth all kinds of living creatures: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals of all kinds." And so it happened:
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.25 God made all kinds of wild animals, all kinds of cattle, and all kinds of creeping things of the earth. God saw how good it was.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.26 Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground."
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.27 God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.28 God blessed them, saying: "Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth."
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.29 God also said: "See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food;
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.30 and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food." And so it happened.
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.31 God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed--the sixth day.
