Joshua 20

1 And the Lord spoke to Josue, saying: Speak to the children of Israel and say to them:	1 Yahveh dijo a Josué:
2 Appoint cities of refuge, a of which I spoke to you by the hand of Moses:	2 «Habla a los israelitas y diles: Señalaos las ciudades de asilo de las que os hablé por medio de Moisés,
3 That whosoever shall kill a person unawares may flee to them: and may escape the wrath of the kinsman, who is the avenger of blood:	3 a las que pueda huir el homicida que haya matado a alguien por inadvertencia (sin querer), y que le sirvan de asilo contra el vengador de la sangre.
4 And when he shall flee to one of these cities: he shall stand before the gate of the city, and shall speak to the ancients of that city, such things as prove him innocent: and so shall they receive him, and give him a place to dwell in.	4 (El homicida huirá a una de estas ciudades: se detendrá a la entrada de la puerta de la ciudad y expondrá su caso a los ancianos de la ciudad. Estos le admitirán en su ciudad y le señalarán una casa para que habite con ellos.
5 And when the avenger of blood shall pursue him, they shall not deliver him into his hands, because he slew his neighbour unawares, and is not proved to have been his enemy two or three days before.	5 Si el vengador de la sangre le persigue, no le entregarán al homicida en su manos, pues ha herido a su prójimo sin querer, y no le tenía odio anteriormente.
6 And he shall dwell in that city, till he stand before judgment to give an account of his fact, and till the death of the high priest, who shall be at that time: then shall the manslayer return, and go into his own city and house from whence he fled.	6 El homicida habrá de permanecer en la ciudad, hasta que comparezca en juicio ante la comunidad, hasta la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote que esté en funciones por aquel tiempo. Entonces el homicida podrá volver a sus ciudad y a su casa, a la ciudad de la que huyó».
7 And they appointed Cedes in Galilee of mount Nephtali, and Sichem in mount Ephraim, and Cariath-Arbe, the same is Hebron in the mountain of Juda.	7 Consagraron: Quedes en Galilea, en la montaña de Neftalí, Siquem en la montaña de Efraím, Quiryat Arbá, o sea Hebrón, en la montaña de Judá.
8 And beyond the Jordan to the east of Jericho, they appointed Bosor, which is upon the plain of the wilderness of the tribe of Ruben, and Ramoth in Galaad of the tribe of Cad, and Gaulon in Basan of the tribe of Manasses.	8 En Transjordania, al oriente de Jericó, se designó Béser, de la tribu de Rubén, en el desierto, en el llano; Ramot en Galaad, de la tribu de Gad, y Golán en Basán, de la tribu de Manasés.
9 These cities were appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the strangers, that dwelt among them: that whosoever had killed a person unawares might flee to them, and not die by the hand of the kinsman, coveting to revenge the blood that was shed, until he should stand before the people to lay open his cause.	9 Estas son las ciudades designadas para todos los israelitas, así como para el forastero residente entre ellos, para que pueda refugiarse en ellas cualquiera que haya matado a alguien por inadvertencia, y no muera a manos del vengador de la sangre, hasta que comparezca ante la comunidad.
