1 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai in the tabernacle of the covenant, the first day of the second month, the second year of their going out of Egypt, saying:	1 Am ersten Tag des zweiten Monats im zweiten Jahr nach dem Auszug aus Ägypten sprach der Herr in der Wüste Sinai im Offenbarungszelt zu Mose:
2 Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel by their families, and houses, and the names of every one, as many as are of the male sex,	2 Ermittelt die Gesamtzahl der Israeliten in der Gemeinde, geordnet nach Sippenverbänden und Großfamilien; zählt mit Namen alle Männer,
3 From twenty years old and upwards, of all the men of Israel fit for war, and you shall number them by their troops, thou and Aaron.	3 die zwanzig Jahre und älter sind, alle wehrfähigen Israeliten. Mustert sie für ihre Heeresverbände, du und Aaron!
4 And there shall be with you the princes of the tribes, and of the houses in their kindreds,	4 Aus jedem Stamm soll euch dabei ein Mann helfen, und zwar jeweils das Haupt einer Großfamilie.
5 Whose names are these: Of Ruben, Elisur the son of Sedeur.	5 Das sind die Namen der Männer, die euch helfen sollen: aus Ruben Elizur, der Sohn Schedëurs;
6 Of Simeon, Salamiel the son of Surisaddai.	6 aus Simeon Schelumiël, der Sohn Zurischaddais;
7 Of Juda, Nahasson the son of Aminadab.	7 aus Juda Nachschon, der Sohn Amminadabs;
8 Of Issachar, Nathanael the son of Suar.	8 aus Issachar Netanel, der Sohn Zuars;
9 Of Zabulon, Eliab the son of Helon.	9 aus Sebulon Eliab, der Sohn Helons;
10 And of the sons of Joseph: of Ephraim, Elisama the son of Ammiud: of Manasses, Gamaliel the son of Phadassur.	10 von den Nachkommen Josefs: aus Efraim Elischama, der Sohn Ammihuds, und aus Manasse Gamliël, der Sohn Pedazurs;
11 Of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gedeon.	11 aus Benjamin Abidan, der Sohn Gidonis;
12 Of Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammisaddai.	12 aus Dan Ahiëser, der Sohn Ammischaddais;
13 Of Aser, Phegiel the son of Ochran.	13 aus Ascher Pagiël, der Sohn Ochrans;
14 Of Gad, Eliasaph the son of Duel.	14 aus Gad Eljasaf, der Sohn Reguëls;
15 Of Nephtali, Ahira the son of Enan.	15 aus Naftali Ahira, der Sohn Enans.
16 These are the most noble princes of the multitude by their tribes and kindreds, and the chiefs of the army of Israel:	16 Das sind die von der Gemeinde berufenen Anführer der Stämme ihrer Väter, die Befehlshaber der Tausendschaften Israels.
17 Whom Moses and Aaron took with all the multitude of the common people:	17 Mose und Aaron nahmen diese namentlich genannten Männer
18 And assembled them on the first day of the second month, reckoning them up by the kindreds, and houses, and families, and heads, and names of every one from twenty years old and upward,	18 und versammelten die ganze Gemeinde am ersten Tag des zweiten Monats. Dann ermittelte man die Abstammung aller Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber; man zählte sie namentlich, geordnet nach Sippen und Großfamilien.
19 As the Lord had commanded Moses. And they were numbered in the desert of Sinai.	19 Wie der Herr es Mose befohlen hatte, so musterte man sie in der Wüste Sinai.
20 Of Ruben the eldest son of Israel, by their generations and families and houses and names of every head, all that were of the male sex, from twenty years old and upward, that were able to go forth to war,	20 Zuerst kamen die Nachkommen Rubens, des Erstgeborenen Israels: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, alle Wehrfähigen.
21 Were forty-six thousand five hundred.	21 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Ruben Gemusterten betrug 46500 Mann.
22 Of the sons of Simeon by their generations and families, and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names and heads of every one, all that were of the male sex, from twenty years old and upward, that were able to go forth to war,	22 Sodann die Simeoniter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, alle Wehrfähigen.
23 Fifty-nine thousand three hundred.	23 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Simeon Gemusterten betrug 59300 Mann.
24 Of the sons of Gad, by their generations and families and houses of their kindreds were reckoned up by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	24 Sodann die Gaditer: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
25 Forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.	25 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Gad Gemusterten betrug 45650 Mann.
26 Of the sons of Juda, by their generations and families and houses of their kindreds, by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	26 Sodann die Nachkommen Judas: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
27 Were reckoned up seventy-four thousand six hundred.	27 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Juda Gemusterten betrug 74600 Mann.
28 Of the sons of Issachar, by their generations and families and houses of their kindreds, by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that could go forth to war,	28 Sodann die Issachariter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
29 Were reckoned up fifty-four thousand four hundred.	29 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Issachar Gemusterten betrug 54400 Mann.
30 Of the sons of Zabulon, by the generations and families and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	30 Sodann die Sebuloniter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
31 Fifty-seven thousand four hundred.	31 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Sebulon Gemusterten betrug 57400 Mann.
32 Of the sons of Joseph, namely, of the sons of Ephraim, by the generations and families and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names of every one, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	32 Sodann die Nachkommen Josefs, zuerst die Efraimiter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
33 Forty thousand five hundred.	33 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Efraim Gemusterten betrug 40500 Mann.
34 Moreover of the sons of Manasses, by the generations and families and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that could go forth to war,	34 Sodann die Manassiter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
35 Thirty-two thousand two hundred.	35 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Manasse Gemusterten betrug 32200 Mann.
36 Of the sons of Benjamin, by their generations and families and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	36 Sodann die Benjaminiter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.

38 Of the sons of Dan, by their generations and families and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	38 Sodann die Daniter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
39 Sixty-two thousand seven hundred.	39 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Dan Gemusterten betrug 62700 Mann.
40 Of the sons of Aser, by their generations and families and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	40 Sodann die Ascheriter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
41 Forty-one thousand and five hundred.	41 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Ascher Gemusterten betrug 41500 Mann.
42 Of the sons of Nephtali, by their generations and families and houses of their kindreds, were reckoned up by the names of every one from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war,	42 Sodann die Naftaliter: Man ermittelte ihre Geschlechterfolge nach Sippen und Großfamilien und zählte mit Namen alle wehrfähigen Männer von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
43 Fifty-three thousand four hundred.	43 Die Zahl der aus dem Stamm Naftali Gemusterten betrug 53400 Mann.
44 These era they who were numbered by Moses and Aaron, and the twelve princes of Israel, every one by the houses of their kindreds.	44 Das waren die Gemusterten, die Mose und Aaron zusammen mit den Anführern Israels zählten; es waren zwölf Anführer, aus jedem Stamm einer, jeweils das Haupt einer Großfamilie.
45 And the whole number of the children of Israel by their houses and families, from twenty years old and upward, that were able to go to war,	45 So ergab sich die Gesamtzahl der gemusterten Israeliten, geordnet nach Großfamilien, also aller wehrfähigen Männer in Israel von zwanzig Jahren und darüber.
46 Were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty men.	46 Als Gesamtzahl der Gemusterten ergab sich 603550 Mann.
47 But the Levites in the tribes of their families were not numbered with them.	47 Die aber, die dem Stamm ihrer Väter nach Leviten waren, wurden nicht gemustert.
48 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	48 Der Herr sprach zu Mose:
49 Number not the tribe of Levi, neither shalt thou put down the sum of them with the children of Israel:	49 Unter den Israeliten sollst du nur den Stamm Levi nicht mustern und zählen.
50 But appoint them over the tabernacle of the testimony, and all the vessels thereof, and whatsoever pertaineth to the ceremonies. They shall carry the tabernacle and all the furniture thereof: and they shall minister, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.	50 Betrau die Leviten mit der Sorge für die Wohnstätte der Bundesurkunde, für ihre Geräte und für alles, was dazu gehört. Sie sollen die Wohnstätte und alle ihre Geräte tragen und sollen sie pflegen; sie sollen ihren Lagerplatz rings um die Wohnstätte haben.
51 When you are to go forward, the Levites shall take down the tabernacle: when you are to camp, they shall set it up. What stranger soever cometh to it, shall be slain.	51 Wenn die Wohnstätte weitergetragen werden soll, sollen die Leviten sie abbauen, und wenn die Wohnstätte das Lager bezieht, sollen die Leviten sie aufstellen. Wer ihr zu nahe kommt, ohne dazu befugt zu sein, wird mit dem Tod bestraft.
52 And the children of Israel shall camp every man by his troops and bands and army.	52 Im Lager soll jeder Israelit sein Zelt an der Stelle aufschlagen, zu der er gehört, und bei dem Feldzeichen, zu dem er gehört, also bei seiner Abteilung im Heer.
53 But the Levites shall pitch their tents round about the tabernacle, lest there come indignation upon the multitude of the children of Israel, and they shall keep watch, and guard the tabernacle of the testimony.	53 Die Leviten aber sollen ihr Lager rings um die Wohnstätte der Bundesurkunde aufschlagen, damit nicht der Zorn (Gottes) die Gemeinde der Israeliten trifft; die Leviten sollen auf die Anordnung über die Wohnstätte der Bundesurkunde achten.
54 And the children of Israel did according to all things which the Lord had commanded Moses.	54 Die Israeliten taten alles genau so, wie es der Herr dem Mose befohlen hatte. So machten sie es.
