Sirach 42

DOUAI-RHEIMS	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Repeat not the word which thou hast heard, and disclose not the thing that is secret; so shalt thou be truly without confusion, and shah find favour before all men: be not ashamed of any of these things, and accept no person to sin thereby:	1 Non riportare discorsi sentiti, rivelando il segreto: così non avrai da arrossire e troverai grazia nel cospetto di tutti gli uomini. Non ti vergognare di tutte quest'altre cose, e il rispetto umano non ti faccia peccare.
2 Of the law of the most High, and of his covenant, and of judgment to justify the ungodly:	2 Della legge dell'Altissimo, dell'alleanza, della giustizia che assolve l'empio,
3 Of the affair of companions and travellers, and of the gift of the inheritance of friends:	3 nei conti coi soci e i viandanti, della divisione dell'eredità tra gli amici,
4 Of exactness of balance and weights, of getting much or little:	4 della bilancia e della stadera giusta, del guadagno, molto o poco che sia,
5 Of the corruption of buying, and of merchants, and of much correction of children, and to make the side of a wicked slave to bleed.	5 (di impedire) la corruzione del mercato e dei mercanti, di correggere molto i figlioli, e far sanguinare i fianchi al servo scellerato.
6 Sure keeping is good over a wicked wife.	6 E' bene mettere il sigillo sopra una donna cattiva.
7 Where there are many hands, shut up, and deliver all things in number, and weight: and put all in writing that thou givest out or receivest in.	7 Dove son molte mani, chiudi; e ciò che dài contalo e pesalo, inoltre ciò che dài e ciò che ricevi scrivilo tutto.
8 Be not ashamed to inform the unwise and foolish, and the aged, that are judged I by young men: and thou shalt be well instructed in all things, and well approved in the sight of all men living.	8 (Non ti vergognare) di correggere l'insensato, lo stolto, nè dei vecchi condannati dai giovani; così tu sarai saggio in tutto e lo dato davanti a tutti i viventi.
9 The father waketh for the daughter when no man knoweth, and the care for her taketh away his sleep, when she is young, lest she pass away the flower of her age, and when she is married, lest she should be hateful:	9 La figlia è l'occulta ansia del padre, e toglie il sonno il timore che essa invecchi ragazza o sia presa in odio da maritata.
10 In her virginity, lest she should be corrupted, and be found with child in her father's house: and having a husband, lest she should misbehave herself, or at the least become barren.	10 o che sia contaminata nella sua verginità, o che si trovi incinta nella casa paterna, o che sia infedele col marito o per lo meno rimanga sterile.
11 Keep a sure watch over a shameless daughter: lest at any time she make thee become a laughingstock to thy enemies, and a byword in the city, and a reproach among the people, and she make thee ashamed before all the multitude.	11 Fai stretta guardia a figlia lussuriosa, chè non ti faccia divenire oggetto di scherno pei tuoi nemici, la favola della città, il ludibrio della plebe, e ti copra di confusione nell'assemblea del popolo.
12 Behold not everybody's beauty: and tarry not among women.	12 Non guardare alla bellezza di nessun uomo e non ti trattenere in mezzo alle donne.
13 For from garments cometh a moth, end from a woman the iniquity of a man.	13 Perchè dalle vesti vien la tignola e dalla donna l'iniquità dell'uomo.
14 For better is the iniquity of a man, than a woman doing a good turn, and a woman bringing shame and reproach.	14 E' meglio il male da un uomo che i benefìzi da una donna, da una donna che porta vergogna e ignominia.
15 I will now remember the works of the Lord, and I will declare the things I have seen. By the words of the Lord are his works.	15 Or rammenterò le opere del Signore, e pubblicherò quello che ho veduto. Per la parola del Signore esistono le sue opere.
16 The sun giving light hath looked upon all things, and full of the glory of the Lord is his work.	16 Il lucente sole contempla tutto, l'opera del Signore è piena della sua gloria.
17 Hath not the Lord made the saints to declare all his wonderful works, which the Lord Almighty hath firmly settled to be established for his glory?	17 Non ha forse il Signore dato ai santi di annunziare tutte le sue maraviglie che il Signore onnipotente ha confermate perchè reggano nella sua gloria?
18 He hath searched out the deep, and the heart of men: and considered their crafty devices.	18 Egli scruta l'abisso e il cuore dell'uomo e conosce i loro segreti accorgimenti;
19 For the Lord knoweth all knowledge, and hath beheld the signs of the world, he declareth the things that are past, and the things that are to come, and revealeth the traces of hidden things.	19 Egli conosce tutto lo scibile e vede i segni del tempo, annunzia le cose passate e quelle future e scopre le tracce delle cose nascoste.
20 No thought escapeth him, and no word can hide itself from him.	20 Nessun pensiero gli sfugge, nessuna parola gli resta nascosta.
21 He hath beautified the glorious works of his wisdom: and he Is from eternity to eternity, and to him nothing may be added,	21 Egli ha decorate le maraviglie della sua sapienza. Egli è prima dei secoli e per tutti i secoli, e nulla s'è aggiunto a lui,
22 Nor can he be diminished, and he hath no need of any counsellor.	22 e nulla gli manca, e non ha bisogno del consiglio di nessuno.
23 O how desirable are all his works, and what we can know is but as a spark!	23 Quanto son belle le sue opere! E' come scintilla quello che si può considerare.
24 All these things live, and remain for ever, and for every use all things obey him.	24 Tutte queste cose vivono e durano nei secoli e tutte in ogni occorrenza obbediscono a lui.
25 All things are double, one against another, and he hath made nothing defective.	25 Tutte sono a coppia, l'una di fronte all'altra: Egli non ha fatto nulla di difettoso.
26 He hath established the good things of every one. And who shall be filled with beholding his glory?	26 Egli assicura il bene di ciascuna. Chi può saziarsi di mirarne la gloria?
