Sirach 33

DOUAI-RHEIMS	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 No evils shall happen to him that feareth the Lord, but in temptation God will keep him, and deliver him from evils.	1 Chi teme Dio non incorrerà in alcun male; Dio lo proteggerà nella tentazione e lo libererà dal male.
2 A wise man hateth not the commandments and justices, and he shall not be dashed in pieces as a ship in a storm.	2 Il sapiente non odia i comandamenti e la legge, e non darà negli scogli, come nave in tempesta.
3 A man of understanding is faithful to the law of God, and the law is faithful to him.	3 L'uomo di senno è fedele alla legge di Dio, e la legge è fedele a lui.
4 He that cleareth up a question, shall prepare what to say, and so having prayed he shall be heard, and shall keep discipline, and then he shall answer.	4 Chi spiega una quistione preparerà il discorso, e così quando pregherà sarà esaudito, raccoglierà la dottrina e al lora risponderà.
5 The heart of a fool is as a wheel of a cart: and his thoughts are like a rolling axletree.	5 Il cuore dello stolto è come la rota d'un carro; e come asse che gira è il suo pensiero.
6 A friend that is a mocker, is like a stallion horse: he neigheth under every one that sitteth upon him.	6 L'amico finto è come cavallo stallone che nitrisce sotto qualunque cavaliere.
7 Why doth one day excel another, and one light another, and one year another year, when all come of the sun?	7 Perché un giorno è da più di un altro, così la luce è da più della luce, e un anno da più dell'altro se (tutto vien) dal sole?
8 By the knowledge of the Lord they were distinguished, the sun being made, and keeping his commandment.	8 La sapienza del Signore li distinse, dopo aver fatto il sole, obbediente ai suoi ordini.
9 And he ordered the seasons, and holidays of them, and in them they celebrated festivals at an hour.	9 Egli fece differenti le stagioni e i loro giorni di festa che in esse si celebrano al tempo stabilito.
10 Some of them God made high and great days, and some of them he put in the number of ordinary days. And all men are from the ground, and out of the earth, from whence Adam was created.	10 Di essi alcuni Dio li esaltò e li fece grandi, gli altri li lasciò nel numero dei giorni comuni. E tutti gli uomini li ha fatti dalla polvere, dalla terra donde fu creato Adamo.
11 With much knowledge the Lord hath divided them and diversified their ways.	11 Nella grandezza della sua sapienza il Signore li distinse, e ne variò i destini.
12 Some of them hath he blessed, and exalted: and some of them hath he sanctified, and set near himself: and some of them hath he cursed and brought low, end turned them from their station.	12 Di essi alcuni li benedisse ed esaltò, alcuni li santificò e li prese per sè, altri invece li maledisse, li umiliò e li cacciò dal paese dove stavano ritirati.
13 As the potter's clay is in his hand, to fashion and order it:	13 Come l'argilla è in mano del vasaio, che la plasma e la dispone
14 All his ways are according to his ordering: so man is in the hand of him that made him, and he will render to him according to his judgment.	14 e tutta la forma a suo piacimento, così l'uomo è nelle mani di colui che l'ha fatto e lo ricompenserà secondo il suo giudizio.
15 Good is set against evil, and life against death: so also is the sinner against a just man. And so look upon all the works of the most High. Two and two, and one against another.	15 Di fronte al male sta il bene, contro la morte la vita, così contro all'uomo giusto sta il peccatore. Considera così tutte le opere dell'Altissimo: stanno a due a due, e l'una contro l'altra.
16 And I awaked last of all, and as one that gathereth after the grapegatherers.	16 Io poi mi sono svegliato l'ultimo, e sono come chi raspolla dopo i vendemmiatori.
17 In the blessing of God I also have hoped: and as one that gathereth grapes, have I filled the winepress.	17 Ma, colla benedizione di Dio. anch'io ho sperato e come vendemmiatore ho riempito il mio tino.
18 See that I have not laboured for myself only, but for all that seek discipline.	18 Considerate che non ho faticato per me solo, ma per tutti quelli che cercano d'istruirsi.
19 Hear me, ye great men, and all ye people, and hearken with your ears, ye rulers of the church.	19 Ascoltatemi, o grandi, o popoli tutti, capi dell'assemblea, porgete l'orecchio.
20 Give not to son or wife, brother or friend, power over thee while thou livest; and give not thy estate to another, lest then repent, and thou entreat for the same.	20 Al figlio, alla moglie, al fra­tello, all'amico, non dar potere sopra di te finché vivi, non cedere ad altri i tuoi beni, se non vuoi pentirtene ed esser costretto a raccomandarti per averli.
21 As long as thou livest, and hast breath in thee, let no man change thee.	21 Finchè vivi e respiri nessuno ti faccia mutar di parere.
22 For it is better that thy children should ask of thee, than that thou look toward the hands of thy children.	22 Perchè è meglio che i tuoi figli preghino te, anziché tu abbia a guardare nelle mani dei tuoi figli.
23 In all thy works keep the pre-eminence.	23 In tutte le tue opere resta tu il principale,
24 Let no stain sully thy glory. In the time when thou shalt end the days of thy life, and in the time of thy decease, distribute thy inheritance.	24 e non macchiare la tua gloria. Quando finiscono i tuoi giorni, alla morte, distribuisci la tua eredità.
25 Fodder, and a wand, and a burden are for an ass: bread, and correction, and work for a slave.	25 Fieno, bastone e soma all'asino, pane, castigo e lavoro allo schiavo:
26 He worketh under correction, and seeketh to rest: let his hands be idle, and he seeketh liberty.	26 lavora costretto dalla sferza, cerca riposarsi; se lasci le sue mani oziose cerca la libertà.
27 The yoke and the thong bend a stiff neck, and continual labours bow a slave.	27 Il giogo e le redini fan piegare il collo duro, e il continuo lavoro piega lo schiavo.
28 Torture and fetters are for a malicious slave: send him to work, that he be not idle:	28 Al servo cattivo battiture e ceppi: mandalo al lavoro, chè non stia in ozio;
29 For idleness hath taught much evil.	29 perchè l'ozio insegna molta malizia.
30 Set him to work: for so it is fit for him. And if he be not obedient, bring him down with fetters, but be not excessive towards any one: and do no grievous thing without judgment.	30 Impiegalo nei lavori, chè ciò gli conviene, se non obbedisce, piegalo coi ceppi; ma non eccedere con nessuno, e senza giudizio non far nulla di grave.
31 If thou have a faithful servant, let him be to thee as thy own soul: treat him as a brother: because in the blood of thy soul thou hast gotten him.	31 Se tu hai uno schiavo fedele tienne di conto come della tua vita, trattalo come fratello, perchè l'hai comprato col sangue della tua vita.
32 If thou hurt him unjustly, he will run away:	32 Se tu lo maltratti ingiustamente, si darà alla fuga.
33 And if he rise up and depart, thou knowest not whom to ask, and in what way to seek him.	33 E se, sottraendosi a te, se ne fugge, non sai a chi domandarne, nè per qual via cercarlo.
