Psalms 124

1 To thee have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven.	1 Canto delle ascensioni. Di Davide. Se il Signore non fosse stato per noi lo dica Israele
2 Behold as the eyes of the servants are on the hands of their masters, As the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until he have mercy on us.	2 se il Signore non fosse stato per noi quando ci assalivano gli uomini,
3 Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for we are greatly filled with contempt.	3 certamente ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi, quando divampò il loro furore contro di noi.
4 For our soul is greatly filled: we are a reproach to the rich, and contempt to the proud.	4 Certamente ci avrebbero travolti le acque, un torrente sarebbe passato su di noi.
	5 Certamente acque impetuose sarebbero passate su di noi.
	6 Benedetto sia il Signore, perché non ha permesso che fossimo preda dei loro denti.
	7 L'anima nostra è stata liberata, come l'uccello dal laccio del cacciatore: il laccio si è spezzato e noi siamo tornati in libertà.
	8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore: egli ha fatto cieli e terra!
