Tobit 13

1 And Tobias the elder opening his mouth, blessed the Lord, and said: Thou art great, O Lord, for ever, and thy kingdom is unto all ages:	1 E Tobi disse:
2 For thou scourgest, and thou savest: thou leadest down to hell, and bringest up again: and there is none that can escape thy hand.	2 "Benedetto sia Dio che vive in eterno, il suo regno dura per tutti i secoli. Egli castiga e usa misericordia, fa scendere fino all'abisso più profondo della terra e fa risalire dalla grande perdizione, non c'è nulla che sfugga alla sua mano.
3 Give glory to the Lord, ye children of Israel, and praise him in the sight of the Gentiles:	3 Celebratelo, Israeliti, davanti alle nazioni, perché egli vi ha dispersi in mezzo ad esse,
4 Because he hath therefore scattered you among the Gentiles, who know not him, that you may declare his wonderful works, and make them know that there is no other almighty God besides him.	4 e qui vi ha fatto vedere la sua grandezza. Esaltatelo davanti ad ogni vivente, perché egli è il nostro Signore, il nostro Dio, egli è il nostro Padre, il Dio per tutti i secoli.
5 He hath chastised us for our iniquities: and he will save us for his own mercy.	5 Vi castiga a causa delle vostre iniquità, ma avrà pietà di tutti voi in mezzo a tutte le nazioni, fra le quali siete stati dispersi.
6 See then what he hath done with us, and with fear and trembling give ye glory to him: and extol the eternal King of worlds in your works.	6 Quando vi sarete convertiti a lui, con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l'anima per essere sinceri con lui, allora egli si volgerà verso di voi e non vi nasconderà più il volto.
7 As for me, I will praise him in the land of my captivity: because he hath shewn his majesty toward a sinful nation.	7 Ora considerate ciò che ha operato per voi e celebratelo a piena voce. Benedite il Signore della giustizia ed esaltate il Re dei secoli.
8 Be converted therefore, ye sinners, and do justice before God, believing that he will shew his mercy to you.	8 Io lo celebro nel mio paese di esilio e annuncio la sua potenza e grandezza a un popolo di peccatori. Convertitevi, o peccatori, e operate rettamente in sua presenza. Chissà che non torni ad amarvi e a farvi misericordia.
9 And I and my soul will rejoice in him.	9 Esalto il mio Dio e celebro il Re del cielo ed esulto per la sua grandezza.
10 Bless ye the Lord, all his elect, keep days of joy, and give glory to him.	10 Che tutti lo lodino e gli rendano grazie in Gerusalemme. Gerusalemme, città santa, Dio ti castigò a causa delle opere dei tuoi figli, ma avrà di nuovo pietà dei figli dei giusti.
11 Jerusalem, city of God, the Lord hath chastised thee for the works of thy hands.	11 Da' lode al Signore degnamente e benedici il Re dei secoli; il tuo tempio ti sia ricostruito con gioia,
12 Give glory to the Lord for thy good things, and bless the God eternal, that he may rebuild his tabernacle in thee, and may call back all the captives to thee, and thou mayst rejoice for ever and ever.	12 così che si allietino in te tutti i deportati, e siano amati in te tutti gli sventurati per tutte le generazioni dei secoli.
13 Thou shalt shine with a glorious light: and all the ends of the earth shall worship thee.	13 Una luce risplendente brillerà in tutte le regioni della terra. Nazioni numerose verranno a te da lontano, e gli abitanti di tutti i confini della terra verranno verso la dimora del tuo santo nome, portando in mano i doni per il Re del cielo. Generazioni senza fine esprimeranno in te l'esultanza e il nome della città eletta durerà per sempre.
14 Nations from afar shall come to thee: and shall bring gifts, and shall adore the Lord in thee, and shall esteem thy land as holy.	14 Maledetti coloro che ti insultano, maledetti saranno quanti ti distruggono, demoliscono le tue mura, rovinano le tue torri e incendiano le tue abitazioni. Ma benedetti per sempre coloro che ti temono.
15 For they shall call upon the great name in thee.	15 Sorgi, allora, ed esulta a causa dei figli dei giusti, perché tutti si raduneranno e benediranno il Signore dei secoli. Beati coloro che ti amano! Beati coloro che gioiscono per la tua prosperità!
16 They shall be cursed that shall despise thee: and they shall be condemned that shall blaspheme thee: and blessed shall they be that shall build thee up.	16 Beati tutti quelli che avranno fatto lutto per te a causa di tutte le tue prove, perché gioiranno per te, vedendo tutta la tua gioia per sempre. Anima mia, benedici il Signore, il gran Re,
17 But thou shalt rejoice in thy children, because they shall all be blessed, and shall be gathered together to the Lord.	17 perché Gerusalemme sarà ricostruita e nella città il suo tempio durerà per sempre. Beato sarò io, se rimane qualcuno della mia discendenza per vedere la tua gloria e celebrare il Re del cielo. Le porte di Gerusalemme saranno ricostruite con zaffiro e smeraldo, e tutte le sue mura con pietre preziose. Le torri di Gerusalemme saranno costruite con oro e i suoi baluardi con oro finissimo. Le piazze di Gerusalemme saranno lastricate con turchese e pietre di Ofir.
18 Blessed are all they that love thee, and that rejoice in thy peace.	18 Le porte di Gerusalemme risuoneranno di canti di giubilo e tutte le sue case acclameranno: "Alleluia, benedetto il Dio d'Israele". Coloro che sono da lui benedetti benediranno il suo santo nome nei secoli, per sempre".
19 My soul, bless thou the Lord, because the Lord our God hath delivered Jerusalem his city from all her troubles.
20 Happy shall I be if there shall remain of my seed, to see the glory of Jerusalem.
21 The gates of Jerusalem shall be built of sapphire, and of emerald, and all the walls thereof round about of precious stones.
22 All its streets shall be paved with white and clean stones: and Alleluia shall be sung in its streets.
23 Blessed be the Lord, who hath exalted it, and may he reign over it for ever and ever, Amen.
