1 But as Tobias made longer stay upon occasion of the marriage, Tobias his father was solicitous, saying: Why thinkest thou doth my son tarry, or why is he detained there?	1 Mientras tanto, Tobit contaba uno por uno los días que debía durar el viaje de ida y vuelta. Cuando se cumplió el plazo, sin que su hijo hubiera vuelto,
2 Is Gabelus dead, thinkest thou, and no man will pay him the money?	2 pensó: «¿Lo habrán retenido allí? A lo mejor, ha muerto Gabael y no hay nadie que le entregue el dinero».
3 And he began to be exceeding sad, both he and Anna his wife with him: and they began both to weep together: because their son did not return to them on the day appointed.	3 Y comenzó a preocuparse.
4 But his mother wept and was quite disconsolate, and said: Woe, woe is me, my son; why did we send thee to go to a strange country, the light of our eyes, the staff of our old age, the comfort of our life, the hope of our posterity?	4 Ana, su mujer, decía: «¡Mi hijo ha muerto, ya no está entre los vivos!». 6 And Tobias said to her: Hold thy peace, and be not troubled, our son is safe: that man with whom we sent him is very trusty.	6 Tobit le decía: «¡Tranquilízate, hermana, no pienses eso! El está bien. Habrán tenido algún contratiempo. Su compañero es persona de confianza, es uno de nuestros hermanos. No te preocupes por él. Llegará de un momento a otro».
7 But she could by no means be comforted, but daily running out looked round about, and went into all the ways by which there seemed any hope he might return, that she might if possible see him coming afar off.	7 Pero ella replicaba: «Déjame, no trates de engañarme. Mi hijo ha muerto». Y todos los días salía a mirar el camino por donde se había ido su hijo, porque no se fiaba de nadie. 9 And Tobias said to him: I know that my father and mother now count the days, and their spirit is grievously afflicted within them.	9 Tobías insistió: «No, por favor. Déjame volver al lado de mi padre».
10 And when Raguel had pressed Tobias with many words, and he by no means would hearken to him, he delivered Sara unto him, and half of all his substance in menservants, and womenservants, in cattle, in camels, and in kine, and in much money, and sent him away safe and joyful from him.	10 Ragüel le entregó en seguida a Sara, con la mitad de todos sus bienes en servidores y servidoras, en bueyes, camellos, asnos y camellos, en vestidos, plata y utensilios.
11 Saying: The holy angel of the Lord be with you in your journey, and bring you through safe, and that you may find all things well about your parents, and my eyes see your children before I die.	11 Así los hizo partir contentos. 12 And the parents taking their daughter kissed her, and let her go:	12 A su hija Sara le dijo: «Ve a la casa de tu suegro. Desde ahora ellos son tus padres, como los que te hemos dado la vida. Vete en paz, hija mía. ¡Ojalá toda mi vida pueda oír buenas noticias tuyas!». Y después de abrazarlos, los dejó partir.
13 Admonishing her to honour her father and mother in law, to love her husband, to take care of the family, to govern the house, and to behave herself irreprehensibly.	13 Edna, por su parte, dijo a Tobías: «Hijo y hermano muy querido, quiera el Señor que vuelvas, y que yo tenga vida para ver a tus hijos y a los de mi hija Sara, antes de morir!». En presencia del Señor, te confío a mi hija para que la cuides. No la entristezcas ni un solo día de tu vida. Vete en paz, hijo mío. De ahora en adelante, yo soy tu madre y Sara es tu hermana. ¡Ojalá pudiéramos ser igualmente felices todos los días de nuestra vida!». Luego besó a los dos y los dejó partir llenos de alegría.
	14 Tobías salió feliz y contento de la casa de Ragüel, bendiciendo al Señor del cielo y de la tierra, el Rey del universo, por el buen resultado de su viaje. Ragüel le dijo: «Ojalá puedas honrar a tus padres todos los días de su vida!».
