1 And when the kingdom of Roboam was strengthened and fortified, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.	1 Pero cuando Roboam consolidó su reino y se hizo fuerte, abandonó la Ley del Señor, y con él todo Israel.
2 And in the fifth year of the reign of Roboam, Sesac king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem (because they had sinned against the Lord)	2 Y por haber sido infieles al Señor, en el año quinto del rey Roboam, subió contra Jerusalén Sisac, rey de Egipto,
3 With twelve hundred chariots and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt, to wit, Libyans, and Troglodites, and Ethiopians.	3 con tres mil doscientos carros de guerra, sesenta mil jinetes y una multitud innumerable que venía con él de Egipto, en la que había libios, suquíes y cusitas.
4 And he took the strongest cities in Juda, and came to Jerusalem.	4 Así se apoderó de las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y llegó a Jerusalén.
5 And Semeias the prophet came to Roboam, and to the princes of Juda, that were gathered together in Jerusalem, fleeing from Sesac, and he said to them : Thus saith the Lord: You have left me, and I have left you in the hand of Sesac.	5 Entonces el profeta Semaías se presentó a Roboam y a los jefes de Judá, que se habían concentrado en Jerusalén ante el avance de Sisac, y les dijo: «Así habla el Señor: Ustedes me han abandonado en manos de Sisac».
6 And the princes of Israel, and the king, being in a consternation, said: The Lord is just.	6 Los jefes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron: «¡El Señor es justo!».
7 And when the Lord saw that they were humbled, the word of the Lord came to Semeias, saying: Because they are humbled, I will not destroy them, and I will give them a little help, and my wrath shall not fall upon Jerusalem by the hand of Sesac.	7 Cuando el Señor vio que se habían humillado, la palabra del Señor llegó a Semaías, en estos términos: «Ellos se han humillado: no los destruiré, sino que los libraré dentro de poco, y mi furor no se derramará sobre Jerusalén por la mano de Sisac.
8 But yet they shall serve him, that they may know the difference between my service, and the service of a kingdom of the earth.	8 Pero le estarán sometidos, y así sabrán lo que es servirme a mí y lo que es servir a los reyes de la tierra».
9 So Sesac king of Egypt departed from Jerusalem, taking away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the king's house, and he took all with him, and the golden shields that Solomon had made,	9 Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén y se apoderó de los tesoros de la Casa del Señor y de la casa del rey. Se apoderó de todo, incluso de los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.
10 Instead of which the king made brazen ones, and delivered them to the captains of the shieldbearers, who guarded the entrance of the palace.	10 En lugar de ellos, el rey Roboam hizo unos escudos de bronce, y se los confió a los jefes de los guardias que custodiaban el acceso a la casa del rey.
11 And when the king entered into the house of the Lord, the shieldbearers came and took them, and brought them back again to their armoury.	11 Cada vez que el rey iba a la Casa del Señor, los guardias los llevaban, y luego los volvían a dejar en la sala de guardia.
12 But yet because they were humbled, the wrath of the Lord turned away from them, and they were not utterly destroyed: for even in Juda there were found good works.	12 Por haberse humillado, la ira del Señor se apartó de él y no lo destruyó por completo, ya que aún había algo bueno en Judá.
13 King Roboam therefore was strengthened in Jerusalem, and reigned: he was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to establish his name there: and the name of his mother was Naama an Ammonitess.	13 El rey Roboam se reafirmó en Jerusalén y siguió reinando. Roboam tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que el Señor eligió entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner su Nombre en ella. Su madre se llamaba Naamá, la amonita.
14 But he did evil, and did not prepare his heart to seek the Lord.	14 El obró mal, porque no se empeñó en buscar al Señor de corazón.
15 Now the acts of Roboam first and last are written in the books of Semeias the prophet, and of Addo the seer, and diligently recorded: and there was war between Roboam and Jeroboam all their days.	15 Los hechos de Roboam, desde el principio hasta el fin, están escritos en las Crónicas del profeta Semaías y del vidente Idó, para ser registrados en las genealogías. Roboam y Jeroboam estuvieron continuamente en guerra.
16 And Roboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. And Abia his son reigned in his stead.	16 Roboam se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Abías reinó en lugar de él.
