DIODATI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 POI il Signore parlò a Giosuè, dicendo: Parla a’ figliuoli d’Israele, dicendo:	1 And the Lord spoke to Josue, saying: Speak to the children of Israel and say to them:
2 Costituitevi le città del rifugio, delle quali io vi parlai per Mosè;	2 Appoint cities of refuge, a of which I spoke to you by the hand of Moses:
3 acciocchè l’ucciditore, che avrà uccisa una persona per errore, disavvedutamente, si rifugga là; ed esse vi saranno per rifugio da colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue.	3 That whosoever shall kill a person unawares may flee to them: and may escape the wrath of the kinsman, who is the avenger of blood:
4 Un tale adunque si rifuggirà in una di quelle città; e, fermatosi all’entrata della porta della città, dirà agli Anziani della città le sue ragioni; ed essi l’accoglieranno a loro dentro alla città, e gli daranno luogo, ed egli abiterà con loro.	4 And when he shall flee to one of these cities: he shall stand before the gate of the city, and shall speak to the ancients of that city, such things as prove him innocent: and so shall they receive him, and give him a place to dwell in.
5 E quando colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue lo perseguiterà, essi non gliel daranno nelle mani; perciocchè egli ha ucciso il suo prossimo disavvedutamente, non avendolo per addietro odiato.	5 And when the avenger of blood shall pursue him, they shall not deliver him into his hands, because he slew his neighbour unawares, and is not proved to have been his enemy two or three days before.
6 Ed egli starà in quella città, finchè, alla morte del sommo Sacerdote che sarà a que’ dì, egli comparisca in giudicio davanti alla raunanza; allora l’ucciditore se ne ritornerà, e verrà alla sua città, e alla sua casa; alla città, onde egli sarà fuggito	6 And he shall dwell in that city, till he stand before judgment to give an account of his fact, and till the death of the high priest, who shall be at that time: then shall the manslayer return, and go into his own city and house from whence he fled.
7 I figliuoli d’Israele adunque consacrarono Chedes in Galilea, nel monte di Neftali; e Sichem nel monte di Efraim; e Chiriat-arba, che è Hebron, nel monte di Giuda.	7 And they appointed Cedes in Galilee of mount Nephtali, and Sichem in mount Ephraim, and Cariath-Arbe, the same is Hebron in the mountain of Juda.
8 E di là dal Giordano di Gerico, verso Oriente, costituirono Beser, nel deserto, nella pianura, d’infra le terre della tribù di Ruben; e Ramot in Galaad, d’infra le terre della tribù di Gad; e Golan in Basan, d’infra le terre della tribù di Manasse.	8 And beyond the Jordan to the east of Jericho, they appointed Bosor, which is upon the plain of the wilderness of the tribe of Ruben, and Ramoth in Galaad of the tribe of Cad, and Gaulon in Basan of the tribe of Manasses.
9 Queste furono le città assegnate per tutti i figliuoli di Israele, e per li forestieri che dimorano fra loro; acciocchè chiunque avesse uccisa una persona per errore si rifuggisse là, e non morisse per man di colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue; finchè fosse comparito davanti alla raunanza	9 These cities were appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the strangers, that dwelt among them: that whosoever had killed a person unawares might flee to them, and not die by the hand of the kinsman, coveting to revenge the blood that was shed, until he should stand before the people to lay open his cause.
