DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 SEDECHIA era d’età di ventun anno, quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò in Gerusalemme undici anni. E il nome di sua madre era Hamutal, figliuola di Geremia da Libna.	1 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eleven years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Hamital daughter of Jeremiah, of Libnah.
2 Ed egli fece quel che dispiace al Signore, del tutto come Gioiachim avea fatto.	2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, just as Jehoiakim had done.
3 Perciocchè l’ira del Signore si accrebbe vie più contro a Gerusalemme, e contro a Giuda, fin là, che li scacciò dal suo cospetto. E Sedechia si ribellò contro al re di Babilonia.	3 That this should happen to Jerusalem and Judah was due to Yahweh's anger, resulting in his castingthem away from his presence. Zedekiah rebel ed against the king of Babylon.
4 Laonde l’anno nono del suo regno, nel decimo giorno del decimo mese, Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, venne sopra Gerusalemme, con tutto il suo esercito, e vi si pose a campo, e fabbricò delle bastie contro ad essa, intorno intorno.	4 In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar kingof Babylon advanced on Jerusalem with his entire army; he pitched camp in front of the city and threw upearthworks round it.
5 E la città fu assediata infino all’anno undecimo del re Sedechia.	5 The city lay under siege till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
6 Nel nono giorno del quarto mese, essendo la fame grave nella città, talchè non vi era più pane per lo popolo del paese;	6 In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, when famine was raging in the city and there was nofood for the populace,
7 ed essendo i Caldei penetrati dentro alla città, tutta la gente di guerra se ne fuggì, e uscì di notte della città, per la via della porta d’infra le due mura, ch’era volta verso l’orto del re, essendo i Caldei sopra la città d’ogn’intorno; e se ne andavano traendo verso il deserto.	7 a breach was made in the city wal . The king and al the fighting men then fled, leaving the city undercover of dark, by way of the gate between the two wal s, which is near the king's garden -- the Chaldaeans hadsurrounded the city -- and made his way towards the Arabah.
8 Ma l’esercito de’ Caldei perseguitò il re, e raggiunse Sedechia nelle campagne di Gerico; e tutto il suo esercito si disperse d’appresso a lui.	8 The Chaldaean troops pursued the king and caught up with Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, where allhis troops deserted.
9 Ed i Caldei presero il re, e lo menarono al re di Babilonia, in Ribla, nel paese di Hamat; ed egli gli pronunziò la sua sentenza.	9 But the Chaldaeans captured the king and took him to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the territory ofHamath, where he passed sentence on him.
10 Ed il re di Babilonia fece scannare i figliuoli di Sedechia, davanti ai suoi occhi; fece eziandio scannare tutti i principi di Giuda, in Ribla.	10 He had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes; he also had all the chief men of Judah put todeath at Riblah.
11 E fece abbacinar gli occhi a Sedechia, e lo fece legar di due catene di rame; e il re di Babilonia lo menò in Babilonia, e lo mise in prigione, ove stette infino al giorno della sua morte	11 He then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading him with chains, the king of Babylon carried him off toBabylon where he kept him prisoner until his dying day.

13 arse la Casa del Signore, e la casa del re, e tutte le case di Gerusalemme; in somma, arse col fuoco tutte le case grandi.	13 He burnt down the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and al the houses in Jerusalem.
14 E tutto l’esercito de’ Caldei, ch’era col capitano delle guardie, disfece tutte le mura di Gerusalemme d’ogn’intorno.	14 The Chaldaean troops who accompanied the commander of the guard demolished al the wal ssurrounding Jerusalem.
15 E Nebuzaradan, capitano delle guardie, menò in cattività de’ più poveri del popolo, e il rimanente del popolo ch’era restato nella città, e quelli ch’erano andati ad arrendersi al re di Babilonia, e il rimanente del popolazzo.	15 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported (some of the poor people and) the remainder of thepopulation left in the city, the deserters who had gone over to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the artisans.
16 Ma pur Nebuzaradan, capitano delle guardie, lasciò alcuni de’ più poveri del paese, per esser vignaiuoli, e lavoratori.	16 But Nebuzaradan commander of the guard left some of the poor country-people behind as vineyardworkers and ploughmen.
17 Ed i Caldei spezzarono le colonne di rame, ch’erano nella Casa del Signore, e i basamenti, e il mar di rame, ch’era nella Casa del Signore; e ne portarono tutto il rame in Babilonia.	17 The Chaldaeans broke up the bronze pil ars from the Temple of Yahweh, the wheeled stands and thebronze Sea, which were in the Temple of Yahweh, and took al the bronze away to Babylon.
18 Ne portarono eziandio le caldaie, e le palette, e le forcelle, e i bacini, e le coppe, e tutti gli arredi di rame, co’ quali si faceva il servigio.	18 They also took the ash containers, the scoops, the knives, the sprinkling bowls, the incense bowls,and all the bronze furnishings used in worship.
19 Il capitano delle guardie ne portò eziandio i vasi, e i turiboli, e i bacini, e i calderotti, e i candellieri, e le tazze, e i nappi; ciò ch’era d’oro a parte, e ciò ch’era d’argento a parte.	19 The commander of the guard also took the bowls, the censers, the sprinkling bowls, the ashcontainers, the lamp-stands, the goblets and the saucers: everything that was made of gold and everythingmade of silver.
20 Quant’è alle due colonne, al mare, e a’ dodici buoi di rame che vi erano sotto, a guisa di basamenti, le quali cose il re Salomone avea fatte per la Casa del Signore, il peso del rame di tutti que’ lavori era senza fine.	20 As regards the two pil ars, the one Sea, the twelve bronze oxen supporting the Sea, and the wheeledstands, which King Solomon had made for the Temple of Yahweh, there was no reckoning the weight of bronzein all these objects.
21 Ora, quant’è alle colonne, l’una d’esse era alta diciotto cubiti, ed un filo di dodici cubiti la circondava; e la sua spessezza era di quattro dita, ed era vuota.	21 As regards the pil ars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, its circumference was twelvecubits, it was four fingers thick, and hol ow inside;
22 E sopra essi vi era un capitello di rame, e l’altezza del capitello era di cinque cubiti; vi era ancora sopra il capitello d’ogn’intorno una rete, e delle melegrane; il tutto di rame; le medesime cose erano ancora nell’altra colonna, insieme con le melegrane.	22 on it stood a capital of bronze, the height of the capital being five cubits; round the capital were filigreeand pomegranates, al in bronze. 23 E le melegrane, per ciascun lato, erano novantasei; tutte le melegrane sopra la rete d’ogn’intorno erano in numero di cento	23 There were ninety-six pomegranates round the sides, making a hundred pomegranates round thefiligree in al .

26 Nebuzaradan adunque, capitano delle guardie, li prese, e li menò al re di Babilonia, in Ribla.	26 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard took these men and brought them to the king of Babylon atRiblah,
27 Ed il re di Babilonia li percosse, e li fece morire in Ribla, nel paese di Hamat.	27 and at Riblah, in the territory of Hamath, the king of Babylon had them put to death. Thus Judah wasdeported from its country.
28 Così Giuda fu menato in cattività fuor della sua terra. Questo è il popolo che Nebucasnesar menò in cattività: l’anno settimo del suo regno ne menò tremila ventitrè Giudei.	28 The number of people deported by Nebuchadnezzar was as fol ows. In the seventh year: threethousand and twenty-three Judaeans;
29 L’anno diciottesimo del suo regno, menò in cattività di Gerusalemme, ottocentrentadue anime;	29 in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, eight hundred and thirty-two persons were deported fromJerusalem;
30 l’anno ventesimoterzo di Nebucadnesar, Nebuzaradan, capitano delle guardie, menò in cattività settecenquarantacinque anime di Giudei. Tutte le anime furono quattromila seicento	30 in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported sevenhundred and forty-five Judaeans. 31 Or l’anno trentasettesimo della cattività di Gioiachin, re di Giuda, nel venticinquesimo giorno del duodecimo mese, Evilmerodac, re di Babilonia, nell’istesso anno ch’egli cominciò a regnare, facendo la rassegna della sua casa, vi mise Gioiachin, re di Giuda, e lo trasse fuor di prigione.	31 But in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on thetwenty-fifth day of the month, Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the year he came to the throne, pardonedJehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison.
32 E parlò benignamente con lui, e innalzò il suo seggio sopra il seggio degli altri re ch’erano con lui in Babilonia.	32 He treated him kindly and allotted him a seat above those of the other kings who were with him inBabylon.

34 E del continuo gli era dato, giorno per giorno, il suo piatto, da parte del re di Babilonia, tutto il tempo della vita sua, infino al giorno della sua morte	34 And his upkeep was permanently ensured by the king, day after day, for the rest of his life until theday he died.
