Deuteronomio 26

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Cuando entres en la tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te da en herencia, cuando tomes posesión de ella y te establezcas allí,	1 “And when you will have entered into the land which the Lord your God will give to you to possess, and when you will have obtained it and are living within it:
2 recogerás las primicias de todos los frutos que extraigas de la tierra que te da el Señor, tu Dios, las pondrás en una canasta, y las llevarás al lugar elegido por el Señor, tu Dios, para constituirlo morada de su Nombre.	2 you shall take the first of all your crops, and place them in a basket, and you shall travel to the place which the Lord your God will choose, so that his name may be invoked there.
3 Entonces te presentarás al sacerdote que esté en funciones en aquellos días, y le dirás: «Yo declaro hoy ante el Señor, tu Dios, que he llegado a la tierra que él nos dio, porque así lo había jurado a nuestros padres».	3 And you shall approach the priest who will be in those days, and you shall say to him: ‘I profess this day, before the Lord your God, that I have entered into the land about which he swore to our fathers that he would give it to us.’
4 El sacerdote tomará la canasta que tú le entregues, la depositará ante el altar,	4 And the priest, taking up the basket from your hand, shall place it before the altar of the Lord your God.
5 y tú pronunciarás estas palabras en presencia del Señor, tu Dios. «Mi padre era un arameo errante que bajó a Egipto y se refugió allí con unos pocos hombres, pero luego se convirtió en una nación grande, fuerte y numerosa.	5 And you shall say, in the sight of the Lord your God: ‘The Syrian pursued my father, who descended into Egypt, and he sojourned there in a very small number, and he increased into a great and strong nation and into an innumerable multitude.
6 Los egipcios nos maltrataron, nos oprimieron y nos impusieron una dura servidumbre.	6 And the Egyptians afflicted us, and they persecuted us, imposing upon us the most grievous burdens.
7 Entonces pedimos auxilio al Señor, el Dios de nuestros padres, y él escuchó nuestra voz. El vio nuestra miseria. nuestro cansancio y nuestra opresión.	7 And we cried out to the Lord, the God of our fathers. He heard us, and he looked with favor upon our humiliation, and hardship, and distress.
8 y nos hizo salir de Egipto con el poder de su mano y la fuerza de su brazo, en medio de un gran terror, de signos y prodigios.	8 And he led us away from Egypt, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, with a mighty terror, with signs and wonders.
9 El nos trajo a este lugar y nos dio esta tierra que mana leche y miel.	9 And he led us into this place, and he delivered to us the land flowing with milk and honey.
10 Por eso ofrezco ahora las primicias de los frutos del suelo que tú, Señor, me diste». Tú depositarás las primicias ante el Señor, tu Dios, y te postrarás ante el Señor, tu Dios, y te postrarás delante de él.	10 And because of this, I now offer the first fruits of the land which the Lord has given to me.’ And you shall leave them in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall adore the Lord your God.
11 Luego te regocijarás por todos los bienes que él te concede, a ti y a tu casa, y también se alegrarán el levita y el extranjero que viven contigo.	11 And you shall feast on all the good things which the Lord your God will give to you and to your house: you, and the Levite, and the new arrival who is with you.
12 El tercer año, el año del diezmo, cuando tomes la décima parte de tus cosechas y se la des al levita, al extranjero, al huérfano y a la viuda, a fin de que ellos puedan comer en tus ciudades hasta saciarse.	12 When you will have completed the tithing of all your crops, in the third year of tithes, you shall give it to the Levite, and to the new arrival, and to the orphan, and to the widow, so that they may eat within your gates and be satisfied.
13 dirás en presencia del Señor, tu Dios: «Yo saqué de mi casa lo que debía ser consagrado, y se lo di al levita, al extranjero, al huérfano y a la viuda, conforme al mandamiento que tú me diste, sin quebrantar ni olvidar ninguno de tus preceptos.	13 And you shall say, in the sight of the Lord your God: ‘I have taken what was sanctified from my house, and I have given it to the Levite, and to the new arrival, and to the orphan and the widow, just as you have commanded me. I have not transgressed your commandments, nor have I forgotten your precepts.
14 No comí nada de eso estando de duelo, no consumí nada en estado de impureza, ni lo ofrecí como alimento a un muerto. Obedecí la voz del Señor, mi Dios, y obre en todo según lo que tú me ordenaste.	14 I have not eaten from these things in my grief, nor have I separated them due to any kind of uncleanness, nor have I expended any of these things in funerals. I have obeyed the voice of the Lord my God, and I have done all things just as you have instructed me.
15 Inclínate desde tu santa morada, desde lo alto del cielo, y bendice a tu pueblo Israel y a la tierra que nos diste –esa tierra que mana leche y miel– como lo habías jurado a nuestros padres».	15 Look with favor from your sanctuary and from your lofty habitation amid the heavens, and bless your people Israel and the land which you have given to us, just as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.’
16 Hoy el Señor, tu Dios, te ordena practicar estos preceptos y estas leyes. Obsérvalas y practícalas y estas leyes. Obsérvalas y practícalas con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.	16 Today the Lord your God has instructed you to carry out these commandments and judgments, and to keep and fulfill them, with all your heart and with all your soul.
17 Hoy tú le has hecho declarar al Señor que él será tu Dios, y que tú, por tu parte, seguirás sus caminos, observarás sus preceptos, sus mandamientos y sus leyes, y escucharás su voz.	17 Today, you have chosen the Lord to be your God, so that you may walk in his ways, and keep his ceremonies and commandments and judgments, and obey his command.
18 Y el Señor hoy te ha hecho declarar que tú serás el pueblo de su propiedad exclusiva, como él te lo ha prometido, y que tú observarás todos sus mandamientos;	18 Today, the Lord has chosen you, so that you may be his particular people, just as he has spoken to you, and so that you may keep all his precepts,
19 que te hará superior –en estima, en renombre y en gloria– a todas las naciones que hizo; y que serás un pueblo consagrado al Señor, como él te lo ha prometido.	19 and so that he may cause you to be more exalted than all the nations which he has created, for the sake of his own praise and name and glory, in order that you may be a holy people for the Lord your God, just as he has spoken.”
