Ezequiel 21

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 Hijo de hombre, vuelve tu rostro en dirección al sur, vaticina hacia el sur y profetiza contra el bosque del campo del Négueb.	2 'Son of man, turn to the right; utter your word towards the south, prophesy against the forest land ofthe Negeb.
3 Tú dirás al bosque del Négueb: Escucha la palabra del Señor. Así habla el Señor: Yo voy a prenderte fuego, y él consumirá todo árbol verde y todo árbol seco. La llama ardiente no se extinguirá y arderá toda la superficie, desde el Négueb hasta el norte.	3 Say to the forest of Negeb, "Hear the word of Yahweh! The Lord Yahweh says this: Listen; I am aboutto kindle a fire in you which wil burn up every green tree in you as wel as every dry one; it wil be anunquenchable blaze and every face wil be scorched by it from the Negeb to the north.
4 Y todos los mortales verán que yo, el Señor, soy el que encendí ese fuego, que no se extinguirá.	4 Al humanity wil see that it was I, Yahweh, who kindled it, and it wil not be extinguished." '
5 Yo exclamé: ¡Ay, Señor! Ellos andan diciendo de mí: «¡Este no es más que un fabulador!».	5 I said, 'Lord Yahweh, they say of me, "He does nothing but speak in riddles!"'
6 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:	6 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
7 Hijo del hombre, vuelve tu rostro hacia Jerusalén, vaticina contra sus santuarios y profetiza contra la tierra de Israel.	7 'Son of man, turn towards Jerusalem, utter your word towards the sanctuary and prophesy against theland of Israel.
8 Tú dirás a la tierra de Israel: Así habla el Señor: Aquí estoy contra ti: yo sacaré mi espada de su vaina y extirparé de ti al justo y al impío.	8 Say to the land of Israel, "Yahweh says this: Now I am against you; I am about to unsheathe my swordand rid you of the upright and the wicked alike.
9 Porque quiero extirpar de ti al justo y al impío, por eso saldrá mi espada de su vaina contra todos ustedes, desde el sur hasta el norte.	9 Since I am going to rid you of upright and wicked alike, I shal unsheathe my sword against everyonealive, from the Negeb to the north,
10 Y todos los mortales sabrán que yo, el Señor, he sacado mi espada de su vaina, y no volverá a ser envainada.	10 so that everyone alive wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who has unsheathed my sword; it wil notgo back again."
11 Y tú, hijo de hombre, gime; agobiado por el dolor, gime amargamente a la vista de ellos.	11 'Son of man, groan as though your heart were breaking. Utter your bitter groans where they can seeyou.
12 Y cuando te pregunten: «¿Por qué gimes?», tú les responderás: Es por una noticia. Apenas llegue, desfallecerán todos los corazones, se paralizarán todas las manos, decaerán todos los espíritus y flaquearán todas las rodillas. Y a está por llegar, ya va a suceder –oráculo del Señor–.	12 And if they say, "Why these groans?" reply, "Because of the news which is about to come, all hearts wil sink, al hands grow weak, all spirits grow faint and al knees turn to water. It is coming now, it is here!-declares Lord Yahweh." '
13 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:	13 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
14 Profetiza, hijo de hombre, y di: Así habla el Señor: ¡Una espada, una espada afilada y bruñida!	14 'Son of man, prophesy. Say, "The Lord says this. Say: The sword, the sword has been sharpenedand polished,
15 Afilada para provocar una masacre, bruñida para fulgurar como el rayo,	15 sharpened for slaughter, polished to flash like lightning . . .
16 Se la hizo bruñir para empuñarla: la espada fue afilada y bruñida para ponerla en mano de un verdugo.	16 He has had it polished to be wielded, this sword sharpened and polished to put in the slaughterer'shand!
17 ¡Grita, laméntate, hijo de hombre, porque ella se alza contra mi pueblo, contra todos los príncipes de Israel, entregados a la espada junto con mi pueblo! Por eso, golpéate el pecho,	17 Shout and wail, son of man, for it wil come on my people, on all the chief men of Israel doomed likemy people to the sword! So beat your breast,
18 porque es el momento de la prueba... –oráculo del Señor–.	18 for this wil be an ordeal . . . declares the Lord Yahweh.
19 Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza, golpea con las palmas de tus manos. Que la espada duplique y triplique sus golpes: ella es la espada de las matanzas, la gran espada de la matanza que los tiene acorralados.	19 So prophesy, son of man, and clap your hands! Let the sword pass three times, that sword forvictims, that sword for a great victim, threatening them from every side!
20 Para que desfallezcan los corazones y haya muchas víctimas, yo he puesto en todas las puertas una espada, hecha para fulgurar como el rayo, bruñida para provocar una masacre.	20 To make hearts sink and make sure many fall, I have posted the slaughtering sword at every gate toflash like lightning, polished for slaughter.
21 ¡Muestra tu filo a la derecha, toma posición a la izquierda, donde quiera seas dirigida!	21 Be sharp, on the right, be ready on the left, whichever way your blade is needed!
22 Yo también golpearé con las palmas de mis manos y aplacaré mi furor. Yo, el Señor, he hablado.	22 I too shal clap my hands and sate my fury! I, Yahweh, have spoken." '
23 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:	23 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,
24 Y tú, hijo de hombre, traza dos caminos para que llegue la espada del rey de Babilonia. Los dos caminos arrancarán de un mismo país. A la entrada de cada camino, pondrás una señal indicando la dirección de una ciudad.	24 'Son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to come along, making both ofthem begin from the same country. Then put up a signpost, put it where the road leaves for the city,
25 Tú trazarás el camino para que la espada llegue a Rabá de los amonitas, y a Judá, que tiene su plaza fuerte en Jerusalén.	25 trace the route which the sword should take for Rabbah-of-the-Ammonites, and for Judah, to thefortress of Jerusalem.
26 Porque el rey de Babilonia se ha detenido en la encrucijada, allí donde se bifurcan los caminos, para consultar los presagios: sacude las flechas, consulta a los ídolos y examina el hígado de las víctimas.	26 For the king of Babylon has halted at the fork where these two roads diverge, to take the omens. Hehas shaken the arrows, questioned the household gods, inspected the liver.
27 En su mano derecha está el presagio que señala «Jerusalén», para ordenar la matanza, lanzar el grito de guerra, colocar arietes contra las puertas, levantar terraplenes y construir torres de asalto.	27 The lot marked 'Jerusalem' is in his right hand: there to set up battering-rams, give the word forslaughter, raise the war cry, level battering-rams against the gates, cast up earthworks, build entrenchments.
28 A los habitantes de Jerusalén les parecerá que ese presagio es falso, porque tienen a su favor un juramento solemne. Pero él les recordará su delito, y serán capturados.	28 The inhabitants wil believe that these omens are idle, for they have received sworn guarantees, buthe wil bring their guilt to mind and capture them.
29 Por eso, así habla el Señor: Porque ustedes, al ser descubiertas sus rebeldías, al ponerse en evidencia los pecados que han cometido en todas sus acciones, han hecho que se les recordara su delito; y por que se han acordado de ustedes, por eso, serán capturados.	29 And so the Lord Yahweh says this, "Since you have brought your guilt to mind by parading yourmisdeeds and flaunting your sins in everything you do: because you have drawn attention to yourselves, you willbe captured.
30 En cuanto a ti, infame malvado, príncipe de Israel, cuyo día ha llegado al mismo tiempo que la expiación final,	30 As for you, impious and wicked prince of Israel, whose doom is approaching to put an end to yourcrimes,
31 así habla el Señor: ¡Saquen el turbante, quiten la diadema! Esto ya no será más así: lo humilde será elevado, lo excelso será humillado.	31 the Lord Yahweh says this: They will take away your diadem and remove your crown. Everything wilbe changed; the low wil be raised and the high brought low!
32 ¡Ruinas, ruinas, todo lo convierto en ruinas! Pero esto no sucederá hasta que llegue aquel a quien le pertenece el juicio, y a él se lo daré.	32 Ruin, ruin, I shal bring such ruin as never was before, until the rightful ruler comes, on whom I shalbestow it."
33 Y tú, hijo de hombre, profetiza. Tú dirás: Así habla el Señor acerca de los amonitas y de sus sarcasmos. Tú dirás: ¡Una espada, una espada! Desenvainada para la masacre, bruñida para devorar, para fulgurar como el rayo,	33 'Son of man, prophesy and say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: In reply to the Ammonites and theirjeers, say: The sword, the sword is drawn for slaughter, polished to devour, to flash like lightning-
34 para descargarla sobre el cuello de los infames malvados, cuyo día llegará al mismo tiempo que la expiación final, mientras se tienen acerca de ti visiones ilusorias y se predice la mentira.	34 while you have empty visions and consult lying omens-to cut the throats of the wicked, whose doomis approaching to put an end to their crimes.
35 ¡Vuelve la espada a la vaina! En el mismo lugar donde fuiste creado, en tu país de origen, yo te juzgaré.	35 Put it back in the scabbard. The place where you were created, the land of your origin, wil be where Ijudge you.
36 Derramaré mi indignación sobre ti, atizaré contra ti el fuego de mi furor, y te entregaré en manos de gente brutal, artífices del exterminio.	36 I shal vent my fury on you, breathe the fire of my rage against you and hand you over to barbarousmen whose trade is destruction.
37 Serás presa del fuego, tu sangre correrá en medio del país, y no quedará ni el recuerdo de ti, porque yo, el Señor, he hablado.	37 You wil be fuel for the fire, your blood wil flow through the country, you wil leave no memory behindyou; for I, Yahweh, have spoken!" '
