EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 ¡Escuchen, reyes, y comprendan! ¡Aprendan, jueces de los confines de la tierra!	1 Wisdom is better than strength, and a wise man is better than a strong man.
2 ¡Presten atención, los que dominan multitudes y están orgullosos de esa muchedumbre de naciones!	2 Hear therefore, ye kings, and understand: learn, ye that are judges of the ends of the earth.
3 Porque el Señor les ha dado el dominio, y el poder lo han recibo del Altísimo: él examinará las obras de ustedes y juzgará sus designios,	3 Give ear, you that rule the people, and that please yourselves in multitudes of nations:
4 Ya que ustedes, siendo ministros de su reino, no han gobernado con rectitud ni han respetado la Ley ni han obrado según la voluntad de Dios	4 For power is given you by the Lord, and strength by the most High, who will examine your works, and search out your thoughts:
5 él caerá sobre ustedes en forma terrible y repentina, ya que un juicio inexorable espera a los que están arriba.	5 Because being ministers of his kingdom, you have not judged rightly, nor kept the law of justice, nor walked according to the will of God.
6 Al pequeño, por piedad, se le perdona, pero los poderosos serán examinados con rigor.	6 Horribly and speedily will he appear to you: for a most severe judgment shall be for them that bear rule.
7 Porque el Señor de todos no retrocede ante nadie, ni lo intimida la grandeza: él hizo al pequeño y al grande, y cuida de todos por igual,	7 For to him that is little, mercy is granted: but the mighty shall be mightily tormented.
8 Pero los poderosos serán severamente examinados.	8 For God will not except any man's person, neither will he stand in awe of any man's greatness: for he made the little and the great, and he hath equally care of all.
9 A ustedes, soberanos, se dirigen mis palabras, para que aprendan la Sabiduría y no incurran en falta;	9 But a greater punishment is ready for the more mighty.
10 porque los que observen santamente las leyes santas serán reconocidos como santos, y los que se dejen instruir por ellas, también en ellas encontrarán su defensa.	10 To you, therefore, O kings, are these my words, that you may learn wisdom, and not fall from it.
11 Deseen, entonces, mis palabras; búsquenlas ardientemente, y serán instruidos. Encuentro con la Sabiduría	11 For they that have kept just things justly, shall be justified: and they that have learned these things, shall find what to answer.
12 La Sabiduría es luminosa y nunca pierde su brillo: se deja contemplar fácilmente por los que la aman y encontrar por los que la buscan.	12 Covet ye therefore my words, and love them, and you shall have instruction.
13 Ella se anticipa a darse a conocer a los que la desean.	13 Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away, and is easily seen by them that love her, and is found by them that seek her.
14 El que madruga para buscarla no se fatigará, porque la encontrará sentada a su puerta.	14 She preventeth them that covet her, so that she first sheweth herself unto them.
15 Meditar en ella es la perfección de la prudencia, y el que se desvela por su causa pronto quedará libre de inquietudes.	15 He that awaketh early to seek her, shall not labour: for he shall find her sitting at his door.
16 La Sabiduría busca por todas partes a los que son dignos de ella, se les aparece con benevolencia en los caminos y les sale al encuentro en todos sus pensamientos.	16 To think therefore upon her, is perfect understanding: and he that watcheth for her, shall quickly be secure.
17 El comienzo de la Sabiduría es el verdadero deseo de instruirse, querer instruirse, es amarla;	17 For she goeth about seeking such as are worthy of her, and she sheweth herself to them cheerfully in the ways, and meeteth them with all providence.
18 amarla, es cumplir sus leyes, observar sus leyes, es garantía de incorruptibilidad,	18 For the beginning of her is the most true desire of discipline.
19 y la incorruptibilidad hace estar cerca de Dios:	19 And the care of discipline is love: and love is the keeping of her laws: and the keeping of her laws is the firm foundation of incorruption:
20 así, el deseo de la Sabiduría conduce a la realeza.	20 And incorruption bringeth near to God.
21 Si a ustedes, entonces, soberanos de los pueblos, les agradan los tronos y los cetros, honren a la Sabiduría y reinarán para siempre.	21 Therefore the desire of wisdom bringeth to the everlasting kingdom.
22 ¿Pero qué es la Sabiduría y cuál es su origen? Yo lo voy a anunciar, sin ocultarles sus misterios: me remontaré hasta sus orígenes más remotos, pondré al descubierto su conocimiento, y no me apartaré de la verdad.	22 If then your delight be in thrones, and sceptres, O ye kings of the people, love wisdom, that you may reign for ever.
23 No me acompañará en el camino la envidia corrosiva, porque ella no tiene nada en común con la Sabiduría.	23 Love the light of wisdom, all ye that bear rule over peoples.
24 Una multitud de sabios es la salvación del mundo, y un rey sensato asegura la estabilidad de su pueblo.	24 Now what wisdom is, and what was her origin, I will declare: and I will not hide from you the mysteries of God, but will seek her out from the beginning of her birth, and bring the knowledge of her to light, and will not pass over the truth:
25 Por lo tanto, déjense instruir por mis palabras, y esto les resultará provechoso.	25 Neither will I go with consuming envy: for such a man shall not be partaker of wisdom.
	26 Now the multitude of the wise is the welfare of the whole world: and a wise king is the upholding of the people.
	27 Receive therefore instruction by my words, and it shall be profitable to you.
