EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Sube a encontrarte con el Señor en compañía de Aarón, Nadab y Abihú, y de setenta de los ancianos de Israel, y permanezcan postrados a distancia.	1 He then said to Moses, 'Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of theelders of Israel and bow down at a distance.
2 Tú serás el único que te acercarás al Señor. Que los demás no se acerquen y que el pueblo no suba contigo».	2 Moses alone will approach Yahweh; the others wil not approach, nor wil the people come up withhim.'
3 Moisés fue a comunicar al pueblo todas las palabras y prescripciones del Señor, y el pueblo respondió a una sola voz: «Estamos decididos a poner en práctica todas las palabras que ha dicho el Señor».	3 Moses went and told the people al Yahweh's words and al the laws, and al the people answered withone voice, 'All the words Yahweh has spoken we wil carry out!'
4 Moisés consignó por escrito las palabras del Señor, y a la mañana siguiente, bien temprano, levantó un altar al pie de la montaña y erigió doce piedras en representación a las doce tribus de Israel.	4 Moses put al Yahweh's words into writing, and early next morning he built an altar at the foot of themountain, with twelve standing-stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 Después designó a un grupo de jóvenes israelitas, y ellos ofrecieron holocaustos e inmolaron terneros al Señor, en sacrificio de comunión.	5 Then he sent certain young Israelites to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice bul ocks to Yahweh ascommunion sacrifices.
6 Moisés tomó la mitad de la sangre, la puso en unos recipientes, y derramó la otra mitad sobre el altar.	6 Moses then took half the blood and put it into basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.
7 Luego tomó el documento de la alianza y lo leyó delante del pueblo, el cual exclamó: «Estamos resueltos a poner en práctica y a obedecer todo lo que el Señor ha dicho».	7 Then, taking the Book of the Covenant, he read it to the listening people, who then said, 'We shall do everything that Yahweh has said; we shall obey.'
8 Entonces Moisés tomó la sangre y roció con ella al pueblo, diciendo: «Esta es la sangre de la alianza que ahora el Señor hace con ustedes, según lo establecido en estas cláusulas».	8 Moses then took the blood and sprinkled it over the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenantwhich Yahweh has made with you, entailing all these stipulations.'
9 Luego Moisés subió en compañía de Aarón, Nadab, Abihú y de setenta de los ancianos,	9 Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy elders of Israel then went up,
10 y ellos vieron al Dios de Israel. A sus pies había algo así como una plataforma de lapislázuli, resplandeciente como el mismo cielo.	10 and they saw the God of Israel beneath whose feet there was what looked like a sapphire pavementpure as the heavens themselves,
11 El Señor no extendió su mano contra esos privilegiados de Israel: ellos vieron a Dios, comieron y bebieron.	11 but he did no harm to the Israelite notables; they actually gazed on God and then ate and drank.
12 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Sube hasta mí, a la montaña, y quédate aquí. Yo te daré las tablas de piedra, con la ley y los mandamientos, que escribí para instruirlos».	12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the stonetablets -- the law and the commandment -- which I have written for their instruction.'
13 Entonces Moisés se levantó junto con Josué, su ayudante, y subió a la montaña de Dios.	13 Moses made ready, with Joshua his assistant, and they went up the mountain of God.
14 El había dicho a los ancianos de Israel: «Espérennos aquí, hasta nuestro regreso. Con ustedes quedarán Aarón y Jur: el que tenga algún pleito que se dirija a ellos».	14 He said to the elders, 'Wait here for us until we come back to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you;if anyone has any matter to settle, let him go to them.'
15 Y Luego subió a la montaña. La nube cubrió la montaña,	15 Moses then went up the mountain. Cloud covered the mountain.
16 y la gloria del Señor se estableció sobre la montaña del Sinaí, que estuvo cubierta por la nube durante seis días. Al séptimo día, el Señor llamó a Moisés desde la nube.	16 The glory of Yahweh rested on Mount Sinai and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh dayYahweh cal ed to Moses from inside the cloud.
17 El aspecto de la gloria del Señor era a los ojos de los israelitas como un fuego devorador sobre la cumbre de la montaña.	17 To the watching Israelites, the glory of Yahweh looked like a devouring fire on the mountain top.
18 Moisés entró en la nube y subió a la montaña. Allí permaneció cuarenta días y cuarenta noches.	18 Moses went right into the cloud and went on up the mountain. Moses stayed on the mountain for fortydays and forty nights.
