2 Samuel 7

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Cuando David se estableció en su casa y el Señor le dio paz, librándolo de todos sus enemigos de alrededor,	1 Once the king had settled into his palace and Yahweh had granted him rest from al the enemiessurrounding him,
2 el rey dijo al profeta Natán: «Mira, yo habito en una casa de cedro, mientras el Arca de Dios está en una tienda de campaña».	2 the king said to the prophet Nathan, 'Look, I am living in a cedar-wood palace, while the ark of God isunder awnings.'
3 Natán respondió al rey: «Ve a hacer todo lo que tienes pensado, porque el Señor está contigo».	3 Nathan said to the king, 'Go and do whatever you have in mind, for Yahweh is with you.'
4 Pero aquella misma noche, la palabra del Señor llegó a Natán en estos términos:	4 But that very night, the word of Yahweh came to Nathan:
5 «Ve a decirle a mi servidor David: Así habla el Señor: ¿Eres tú el que me va a edificar una casa para que yo la habite?	5 'Go and tell my servant David, "Yahweh says this: Are you to build me a temple for me to live in?
6 Desde el día en que hice subir de Egipto a los israelitas hasta el día de hoy, nunca habité en una casa, sino que iba de un lado a otro, en una carpa que me servía de morada.	6 I have never lived in a house from the day when I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until today, buthave kept travel ing with a tent for shelter.
7 Y mientras caminaba entre los israelitas, ¿acaso le dije a uno solo de los jefes de Israel, a los que mandé apacentar a mi Pueblo: «¿Por qué no me han edificado una casa de cedro?».	7 In al my travels with al the Israelites, did I say to any of the judges of Israel, whom I had commanded to shepherd my people Israel: Why do you not build me a cedar-wood temple?"
8 Y ahora, esto es lo que le dirás a mi servidor David: Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Yo te saqué del campo de pastoreo, de detrás del rebaño, para que fueras el jefe de mi pueblo Israel.	8 This is what you must say to my servant David, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I took you from thepasture, from following the sheep, to be leader of my people Israel;
9 Estuve contigo dondequiera que fuiste y exterminé a todos tus enemigos delante de ti. Yo haré que tu nombre sea tan grande como el de los grandes de la tierra.	9 I have been with you wherever you went; I have got rid of al your enemies for you. I am going to makeyour fame as great as the fame of the greatest on earth.
10 Fijaré un lugar para mi pueblo Israel y lo plantaré para que tenga allí su morada. Ya no será perturbado, ni los malhechores seguirán oprimiéndolo como lo hacían antes,	10 I am going to provide a place for my people Israel; I shall plant them there, and there they wil live andnever be disturbed again; nor wil they be oppressed by the wicked any more, as they were in former times
11 desde el día en que establecí Jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel. Yo te he dado paz, librándote de todos tus enemigos. Y el Señor te ha anunciado que él mismo te hará una casa.	11 ever since the time when I instituted judges to govern my people Israel; and I shal grant you rest fromal your enemies. Yahweh furthermore tel s you that he wil make you a dynasty.
12 Sí, cuando hayas llegado al término de tus días y vayas a descansar con tus padres, yo elevaré después de ti a uno de tus descendientes, a uno que saldrá de tus entrañas, y afianzaré su realeza.	12 And when your days are over and you fal asleep with your ancestors, I shal appoint your heir, yourown son to succeed you (and I shal make his sovereignty secure.
13 El edificará una casa para mi Nombre, y yo afianzaré para siempre su trono real.	13 He wil build a temple for my name) and I shal make his royal throne secure for ever.
14 Seré un padre para él, y él será para mí un hijo. Si comete una falta, lo corregiré con varas y golpes, como lo hacen los hombres.	14 I shal be a father to him and he a son to me; if he does wrong, I shal punish him with a rod such asmen use, with blows such as mankind gives.
15 Pero mi fidelidad no se retirará de él, como se la retiré a Saúl, al que aparté de tu presencia.	15 But my faithful love wil never be withdrawn from him as I withdrew it from Saul, whom I removed frombefore you.
16 Tu casa y tu reino durarán eternamente delante de mí, y su trono será estable para siempre».	16 Your dynasty and your sovereignty will ever stand firm before me and your throne be for ever secure."'
17 Natán comunicó a David toda esta visión y todas estas palabras.	17 Nathan related al these words and this whole revelation to David.
18 Entonces el rey David fue a sentarse delante del Señor y exclamó: «¿Quién soy yo, Señor, y qué es mi casa para que me hayas hecho llegar hasta aquí?	18 King David then went in, sat down in Yahweh's presence and said: 'Who am I, Lord Yahweh, and whatis my lineage, for you to have led me as far as this?
19 Y como esto te pareció demasiado poco, también le has hecho una promesa a la casa de tu servidor, para un futuro lejano. ¿Es esto lo que haces habitualmente con los hombres, Señor?	19 Yet, to you, Lord Yahweh, this seemed too little, and now you extend your promises for your servant'sfamily into the distant future. Such is human destiny, Lord Yahweh.
20 ¿Y qué más podría decirte David, si tú, Señor, conoces bien a tu servidor?	20 What more can David say to you, since you, Lord Yahweh, know al about your servant?
21 A causa de tu palabra y conforme a tu designio, tú has hecho esta gran obra, dándosela a conocer a tu servidor.	21 Because of your promise and since you were so inclined, you have had the generosity to reveal this toyour servant.
22 Por eso tú eres grande Señor, no hay nadie como tú, ni hay Dios fuera de ti, por todo lo que hemos escuchado con nuestros propios oídos.	22 That is why you are great, Lord Yahweh; there is no one like you, no God but you alone, as everythingthat we have heard confirms.
23 ¿Y quién es como tu pueblo, como Israel, la única nación sobre la tierra a quien Dios fue a rescatar para hacerla su pueblo y darle un nombre? Tú has realizado en su favor cosas grandes y terribles, expulsando a las naciones y a sus dioses delante del pueblo que rescataste de Egipto.	23 Is there another people on earth like your people, like Israel, whom a god proceeded to redeem, tomake them his people and to make a name for himself by performing great and terrible things on their behalf, bydriving out nations and their gods before his people? -
24 Tú has establecido a tu pueblo Israel para que sea tu pueblo eternamente, y tú, Señor, eres su Dios.	24 for you constituted your people Israel your own people for ever and you, Yahweh, became their God.
25 Y ahora, Señor Dios, confirma para siempre la palabra que has pronunciado acerca de tu servidor y de su casa, y obra conforme a lo que has dicho.	25 'Now, Yahweh God, may the promise which you have made for your servant and for his family standfirm forever as you have said,
26 Que tu Nombre sea engrandecido para siempre, y que se diga: «¡El Señor de los ejércitos es el Dios de Israel!». Y que la casa de David, tu servidor, esté bien afianzada delante de ti.	26 so that your name wil be exalted for ever and people wil say, "Israel's God is Yahweh Sabaoth." Yourservant David's dynasty wil be secure before you,
27 Porque tú mismo, Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel te has revelado a tu servidor, diciendo: «Yo te edificaré una casa». Por eso tu servidor se ha atrevido a dirigirte esta plegaria.	27 since you, Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, have disclosed to your servant, "I am going to buildyou a dynasty." Hence, your servant has ventured to offer this prayer to you.
28 Ahora, Señor, tú eres Dios, tus palabras son leales y has prometido estos bienes a tu servidor.	28 Yes, Lord Yahweh, you are God indeed, your words are true and you have made this generouspromise to your servant.
29 Dígnate, entonces, bendecir la casa de tu servidor, para que ella permanezca siempre en tu presencia. Porque tú, Señor, has hablado, y con tu bendición la casa de tu servidor será bendita para siempre».	29 What is more, you have deigned to bless your servant's dynasty, so that it may remain for ever beforeyou; for you, Lord Yahweh, have spoken; and may your servant's dynasty be blessed with your blessing forever.'
