EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 En tiempos de Amrafel, rey de Senaar, de Arioc, rey de Elasar, de Quedorlaomer, rey de Elam, y de Tidal, rey de Goím,	1 When Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king ofthe Goiim,
2 estos hicieron la guerra contra Berá, rey de Sodoma, Birsá, rey de Gomorra, Sinab, rey de Admá, Zeméber, rey de Seboím, y contra el rey de Belá, es decir, de Soar.	2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king ofZeboi m, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar),
3 Todos ellos se concentraron en el valle de Sidím, que ahora es el mar de la Sal.	3 al the latter joined forces in the Val ey of Siddim (now the Salt Sea).
4 Durante doce años, habían estado sometidos a Quedorlaomer, pero al decimotercer año se rebelaron.	4 For twelve years they had been under the yoke of Chedor-Laomer, but in the thirteenth year theyrevolted.
5 Y en el decimocuarto año, Quedorlaomer y los reyes que los acompañaban llegaron y derrotaron a los refaítas en Asterot Carnaim, a los zuzíes en Ham, a los emíes en la llanura de Quiriataim,	5 In the fourteenth year Chedor-Laomer arrived and the kings who had al ied themselves with him. Theydefeated the Rephaim at Ashteroth-Carnaim, the Zuzim at Ham, the Emim in the Plain of Kiriathaim,
6 y a los hurritas en las montañas de Seír, cerca de El Parán, en el límite con el desierto.	6 the Horites in the mountainous district of Seir near El-Paran, which is on the edge of the desert.
7 Luego dieron vuelta hasta En Mispat –actualmente Cades– y sometieron todo el territorio de los amalecitas, y también a los amorreos que habitaban en Hasasón Tamar.	7 Wheeling round, they came to the Spring of Judgement (that is, Kadesh); they conquered all theterritory of the Amalekites and also the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-Tamar.
8 Entonces el rey de Sodoma, el rey de Gomorra, el rey de Admá, el rey de Seboím, y el rey de Belá –o Soar– avanzaron y presentaron batalla en el valle de Sidím	8 Then the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out andengaged them in the Val ey of Siddim:
9 a Quedorlaomer, rey de Elam, a Tidal, rey de Goím, a Amrafel, rey de Senaar, y a Arioc, rey de Elasar. Eran cuatro reyes contra cinco.	9 Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, Tidal king of the Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king ofEl asar: four kings against five.
10 El valle de Sidím estaba lleno de pozos de asfalto. Al huir, los reyes de Sodoma y Gomorra cayeron en ellos, mientras ya los demás escaparon a las montañas.	10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.
11 Los invasores se apoderaron de todos los bienes de Sodoma y Gomorra, y también de sus víveres. Y cuando partieron,	11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.
12 se llevaron a Lot, el sobrino de Abram con toda su hacienda, porque él vivía entonces en Sodoma.	12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.
13 Un fugitivo llevó la noticia a Abram, el hebreo, que estaba acampado en el encinar de Mamré, el amorreo, hermano de Escol y de Aner; estos, a su vez, eran aliados de Abram.	13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.
14 Al enterarse de que su pariente Lot había sido llevado cautivo, Abram reclutó a la gente que estaba a su servicio –trescientos dieciocho hombres nacidos en su casa– y persiguió a los invasores hasta Dan.	14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.
15 El y sus servidores los atacaron de noche, y después de derrotarlos, los persiguieron hasta Jobá, al norte de Damasco.	15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 Así Abram recuperó todos los bienes, lo mismo que a su pariente Lot con su hacienda, las mujeres y la gente.	16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.
17 Cuando Abram volvía de derrotar a Quedorlaomer y a los reyes que lo acompañaban, el rey de Sodoma salió a saludarlo en el valle de Savé, o sea el valle del Rey.	17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).
18 Y Melquisedec, rey de Salem, que era sacerdote de Dios, el Altísimo, hizo traer pan y vino,	18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.
19 y bendijo a Abram, diciendo: «¡Bendito sea Abram de parte de Dios, el Altísimo, creador del cielo y de la tierra!	19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.
20 ¡Bendito sea Dios, el Altísimo, que entregó a tus enemigos en tus manos!». Y Abram le dio el diezmo de todo.	20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 Entonces el rey de Sodoma dijo a Abram: «Entrégame a las personas y quédate con los bienes».	21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'
22 Pero Abram le respondió: «Yo he jurado al Señor Dios, el Altísimo, creador del cielo y de la tierra,	22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:
23 que no tomaré nada de lo que te pertenece; ni siquiera el hilo o la correa de una sandalia. Así no podrás decir: «Yo enriquecí a Abram».	23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."
24 No quiero nada para mí, fuera de lo que mis servidores han comido. Solamente los hombres que me han acompañado, Aner, Escol y Mamré, recibirán su parte».	24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'
