Amós 7

BIBLIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Esto me dio a ver el Señor Yahveh: He aquí que él formaba langostas, cuando empieza a crecer el retoño, el retoño que sale después de la siega del rey.	1 This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was forming a locust swarm when the late growth began to come up (the late growth after the king's mowing).
2 Y cuando acababan de devorar la hierba de la tierra, yo dije: «¡Perdona, por favor, Señor Yahveh! ¿cómo va a resistir Jacob, que es tan pequeño?»	2 While they were eating all the grass in the land, I said: Forgive, O Lord GOD! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!
3 Y se arrepintió Yahveh de ello: «No será», dijo Yahveh.	3 And the LORD repented of this. "It shall not be," said the Lord GOD.
4 Esto me dio a ver el Señor Yahveh: He aquí que el Señor Yahveh convocaba al juicio por el fuego: éste devoró el gran abismo, y devoró la campiña.	4 Then the Lord GOD showed me this: he called for a judgment by fire. It had devoured the great abyss, and was consuming the land,
5 Y yo dije: «¡Señor Yahveh, cesa, por favor! ¿cómo va a resistir Jacob, que es tan pequeño?»	5 when I said: Cease, O Lord GOD! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!
6 Y se arrepintió Yahveh de ello: «Tampoco esto será», dijo el Señor Yahveh.	6 The LORD repented of this. "This also shall not be," said the Lord GOD.
7 Esto me dio a ver el Señor Yahveh: He aquí que el Señor estaba junto a una pared con una plomada en la mano.	7 Then the Lord GOD showed me this: he was standing by a wall, plummet in hand.
8 Y me dijo Yahveh: «¿Qué ves, Amós?» Yo respondí: «Una plomada». El Señor dijo: «¡He aquí que yo voy a poner plomada en medio de mi pueblo Israel, ni una más le volveré a pasar!	8 The LORD asked me, "What do you see, Amos?" And when I answered, "A plummet," the Lord said: See, I will lay the plummet in the midst of my people Israel; I will forgive them no longer.
9 Serán devastados los altos de Isaac, asolados los santuarios de Israel, y yo me alzaré con espada contra la casa de Jeroboam».	9 The high places of Isaac shall be laid waste, and the sanctuaries of Israel made desolate; I will attack the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 El sacerdote de Betel, Amasías, mandó a decir a Jeroboam, rey de Israel: «Amós conspira contra ti en medio de la casa de Israel; ya no puede la tierra soportar todas sus palabras.	10 Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent word to Jeroboam, king of Israel: "Amos has conspired against you here within Israel; the country cannot endure all his words.
11 Porque Amós anda diciendo: “A espada morirá Jeroboam, e Israel será deportado de su suelo.”»	11 For this is what Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be exiled from its land."
12 Y Amasías dijo a Amós: «Vete, vidente; huye a la tierra de Judá; come allí tu pan y profetiza allí.	12 To Amos, Amaziah said: "Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah! There earn your bread by prophesying,
13 Pero en Betel no has de seguir profetizando, porque es el santuario del rey y la Casa del reino».	13 but never again prophesy in Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal temple."
14 Respondió Amós y dijo a Amasías: «Yo no soy profeta ni hijo de profeta, yo soy vaquero y picador de sicómoros.	14 Amos answered Amaziah, "I was no prophet, nor have I belonged to a company of prophets; I was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores.
15 Pero Yahveh me tomó de detrás del rebaño, y Yahveh me dijo: “Ve y profetiza a mi pueblo Israel.”	15 The LORD took me from following the flock, and said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.
16 Y ahora escucha tú la palabra de Yahveh. Tú dices: “No profetices contra Israel, no vaticines contra la casa de Isaac.”	16 Now hear the word of the LORD!" You say: prophesy not against Israel, preach not against the house of Isaac.
17 «Por eso, así dice Yahveh: “Tu mujer se prostituirá en la ciudad, tus hijos y tus hijas caerán a espada, tu suelo será repartido a cordel, tú mismo en un suelo impuro morirás, e Israel será deportado de su suelo”».	17 Now thus says the LORD: Your wife shall be made a harlot in the city, and your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Your land shall be divided by measuring line, and you yourself shall die in an unclean land; Israel shall be exiled far from its land.
