1 Questo Melchisedec fu re di Salem, e sommo sacerdote di Dio, il quale uscìo incontro ad Abraam che ritornava da uccidere li malvagi re, e benedisse Abraam.	1 For this Melchisedech was king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him:
2 Al quale diede Abraam decima di tutte le cose; il quale (Melchisedec) è interpretato re della giustizia, e ancora re di Salem, cioè re di pace,	2 To whom also Abraham divided the tithes of all: who first indeed by interpretation, is king of justice: and then also king of Salem, that is, king of peace:
3 senza padre, senza madre e senza generazione, non abiendo incominciamento de' dì, nè fine di vita; ma assimigliato al Figliuolo di Dio, e' sta sacerdote in eterno.	3 Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but likened unto the Son of God, continueth a priest for ever.
4 Ma guardate quanto sia grande questi, al qual diede Abraam patriarca la decima di tutte le migliori cose.	4 Now consider how great this man is, to whom also Abraham the patriarch gave tithes out of the principal things.
5 E veramente li figliuoli di Levi, ricevendo il principato, hanno il comandamento di ricevere la decima del popolo secondo la legge, cioè dalli fratelli suoi, avvegna che [an ch' ] egli uscissero de' lombi d' Abraam.	5 And indeed they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is to say, of their brethren: though they themselves also came out of the loins of Abraham.
6 La generazione del quale non sanno annulmerare intra loro, e nondimeno sì ricevette la decima d'Abraam, e benedisselo costui il quale avea la promissione.	6 But he, whose pedigree is not numbered among them, received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
7 Senza alcuno contradicimento quella cosa ch' è minore si benedice dal maggiore, (e quelli che son minori danno decima alli maggiori).	7 And without all contradiction, that which is less, is blessed by the better.
8 E gli uomini mortali ricevono decima; chè si testimonia ch' egli vive.	8 And here indeed, men that die, receive thithes: but there he hath witness, that he liveth.
9 E in questa guisa hae detto, che per Abraam e Levi furo decimati quelli che ricevettero le decime.	9 And (as it may be said) even Levi who received tithes, paid tithes in Abraham:
10 Chè (Levi) era ancora ne' lombi del padre (Abraam) quando andò incontra a lui Melchisedec.	10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedech met him.
11 Adunque se per il sacerdozio di Levi era (la perfezione) il compimento; imperò che il popolo sotto lui prese la legge; che ancora fu mestieri che si levasse un altro sacerdote, che fosse secondo l'ordine di Melchisedec, e non secondo l'ordine di Aaron?	11 If then perfection was by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchisedech, and not be called according to the order of Aaron?
12 E così tramutando il sacerdozio (del pretatico), bisogna che sia tramutamento della legge.	12 For the priesthood being translated, it is necessary that a translation also be made of the law.
13 Nel qual si dicono queste cose, ch' egli è d'altra tribù, della quale non ne fu neuno presente all' altare.	13 For he, of whom these things are spoken, is of another tribe, of which no one attended on the altar.
14 Manifesta cosa è che (della tribù) di Giuda Cristo nacque; della qual tribù niuna cosa parlò Moisè di sacerdote.	14 For it is evident that our Lord sprung out of Juda: in which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.
15 E ancora è più manifesta cosa, che secondo l'ordine di Melchisedec si levasse un altro sacerdote;	15 And it is yet far more evident: if according to the similitude of Melchisedech there ariseth another priest,
16 il quale non fu fatto secondo la legge del comandamento carnale, [ma] secondo la virtù della vita durabile.	16 Who is made not according to the law of a carnal commandment, but according to the power of an indissoluble life:
17 Chè (il Spirito Santo, parlando per bocca. del profeta) sì testimonia (e dice a Cristo): tu sarai sacerdote in eterno, secondo l'ordine di Melchisedec.	17 For he testifieth: Thou art a priest for ever, according to the order of Melchisedech.
18 Divieto certamente è fatto del precedente comandamento, per sua fievolezza, e per la non utilità.	18 There is indeed a setting aside of the former commandment, because of the weakness and unprofitableness thereof:
19 Veramente niuna cosa menò a compimento la legge (vecchia), ma fu introducimento di migliore speranza, per la quale approssimiamo a Dio.	19 (For the law brought nothing to perfection,) but a bringing in of a better hope, by which we draw nigh to God.
20 Ed è così grande, che non è senza sacramento; chè per certo molti altri fatti son sacerdoti senza sacramento (di Dio);	20 And inasmuch as it is not without an oath, (for the others indeed were made priests without an oath;
21 ma questi (cioè Cristo) con sacramento fu fatto di colui, il quale disse a lui: giurò il Signore, e non se ne pentìo, che tu sei sacerdote in eterno (secondo l'ordine di Melchisedec).	21 But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever.)
22 È (in questo contento) Iesù Cristo fatto promettitore di migliore testamento.	22 By so much is Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
23 E altri veramente molti fatti son sacerdoti (secondo la legge); imperò che a cagione della morte non potemo sempre permanere.	23 And the others indeed were made many priests, because by reason of death they were not suffered to continue:
24 Ma questo, imperò che sempre può permanere, sì ha sempiternale sacerdozio.	24 But this, for that he continueth for ever, hath an everlasting priesthood,
25 Onde (però) puote salvare perpetualmente, approssimandosi per sè medesimo a Dio; vivendo sempre a pregare Dio per noi.	25 Whereby he is able also to save for ever them that come to God by him; always living to make intercession for us.
26 Veramente tal pontefice era bisogno a noi, che fosse santo, e che non nocesse altrui, e che non fosse polluto (e sozzo di peccato), e che fosse partito da' peccatori, e che fosse fatto più alto che li cieli.	26 For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Al qual non è bisogno quotidianamente, sì come alli altri sacerdoti, di offerire ostia, prima per li suoi peccati, e poscia per il popolo; imperò ch' egli fece questa cosa in una volta, offerendo sè medesimo (nella croce del Signore nostro Iesù Cristo).	27 Who needeth not daily (as the other priests) to offer sacrifices first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, in offering himself.
28 Chè la legge ordinò uomini per sacerdoti, li quali hanno in sè fievolezza; ma il sermone della promissione, il quale è dopo la legge, ordinò il suo Figliuolo sempre perfetto.	28 For the law maketh men priests, who have infirmity: but the word of the oath, which was since the law, the Son who is perfected for evermore.
