1 Nel dì XXIIII del mese, nel VI mese, nell'anno secondo di Dario re.	1 on the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of king Darius.
2 Nel mese VII, nel dì XXI del mese, parlò il Signore in mano di Aggeo profeta, dicendo:	2 And in the seventh month, on the twenty-first of the month, the word of the Lord came, by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
3 Parla a Zorobabel figliuolo di Salatiel, duca di Giuda, e a Iesù figliuolo di Iosedec, sacerdote grande, e a tutti gli altri del popolo, dicendo:	3 Speak to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, the governor of Judah, and to Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remainder of the people, saying:
4 Quale di voi ci è rimaso, il quale abbia veduto questa casa nella gloria sua prima? e che vedete voi, ch' ella sia ora? or non è ella ora così come s'ella non fosse negli occhi vostri?	4 Who is left among you, who saw this house in its first glory? And how do you see it now? Is it not, in comparison to that, as nothing in your eyes?
5 E ora dice il Signore: confòrtati, Zorobabel, e confortati, Iesù figliuolo di Iosedec, sacerdote grande; e confortati, tutto il popolo della terra, dice il Signore degli esèrciti; e fate, però ch' io sono con voi, dice il Signore degli esèrciti,	5 And now be strengthened, Zerubbabel, says the Lord. And be strengthened, Jesus the son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strengthened, all people of the land, says the Lord of hosts. For I am with you, says the Lord of hosts.
6 la parola ch' io patteggiai con voi, quando voi usciste della terra d' Egitto; e lo spirito mio sarà nel mezzo di voi, non vogliate temere.	6 And act according to the word that I planted with you when you departed from the land of Egypt. And my Spirit will be in your midst. Do not be afraid.
7 Però che queste parole dice il Signore degli esèrciti: (che) stante ancora un poco, io moverò il cielo e la terra, il mare e l'arida.	7 For thus says the Lord of hosts: There is yet one brief time, and I will move heaven and earth, and the sea and the dry land.
8 E moverò le genti; e verrà il Desiderato da tutte le genti; ed empierò questa casa di gloria, dice il Signore degli esèrciti.	8 And I will move all nations. And the Desired of all nations will arrive. And I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of hosts.
9 Mio è l'argento, e mio è l'oro, dice il Signore degli esèrciti.	9 Mine is the silver, and mine is the gold, says the Lord of hosts.
10 Grande sarà la gloria di questa casa ultima, più che della prima, dice il Signore degli esèrciti; e in questo luogo darò pace, dice il Signore degli esèrciti.	10 Great shall be the glory of this house, the last more than the first, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place, I will bestow peace, says the Lord of hosts.
11 Nel dì XXIIII del mese IX, nell' anno secondo di Dario re, parlò il Signore ad Aggeo profeta, dicendo:	11 On the twenty-fourth of the ninth month, in the second year of king Darius, the word of the Lord came to Haggai the prophet, saying:
12 Queste parole dice il Signore degli esèrciti: addomanda li sacerdoti della legge, dicendoli :	12 Thus says the Lord of hosts: the priests question the law, saying:
13 Se l' uomo porterà la carne santificata nella stremità del vestimento suo, e dalla sommità d' esso vestimento toccherà pane o companatico o vino, ovvero olio o qualunque cibo, or sarà santificata quella cosa che toccherà? E rispondendo li sacerdoti, dissono: non.	13 If a man will have carried sanctified flesh in the pocket of his garment, and the top of it touches his bread, or appetizer, or wine, or oil, or any food, shall it be sanctified? But the priests responded by saying, “No.”
14 E Aggeo disse: se l'uomo polluto (e sozzo) nell' anima toccherà di tutte queste cose, or sarà contaminata quella cosa? Rispuosono i sacerdoti, e dissono contaminata sarà.	14 And Haggai said, “If the polluted in soul will have touched any of all these things, shall it be contaminated?” And the priests responded and said, “It shall be contaminated.”
15 E rispose Aggeo, e disse: così questo popolo, e così questa gente dinanzi dalla faccia mia, disse il Signore, e così ogni opera delle loro mani; e tutte le cose, che loro mi offeriranno, saranno contaminate.	15 And Haggai answered and he said: Such is this people, and such is this nation before my face, says the Lord, and such is all the work of their hands. And so all that they have offered there has been contaminated.
16 E ora ponetevi cura da questo di addietro, inanzi che si ponesse pietra sopra pietra nel tempio del Signore.	16 And now, consider in your hearts, from this day and beyond, before stone may be placed upon stone in the temple of the Lord:
17 Che quando voi andavate al monte di XX moggia, ed egli diventavano X; quando voi entravate ne' canali (a pigliare) per cavarne L barili, diventavano XX.	17 when you approached a pile of twenty measures, and they became ten, and you entered to the press, to press out fifty bottles, and they became twenty,
18 Io v' ho percosso di vento ardente, e di vento corrotto e di grandine tutte l'opere delle mani vostre; e non fu tra voi chi ritornasse a me, dice il Signore.	18 how I struck you with a burning wind, and a mildew, and a hailstorm, all the works of your hand, yet there was no one among you who returned to me, says the Lord.
19 Ponetevi a cura da questo dì inanzi per l'avvenire, dal dì XXIIII del VIIII mese; dal dì che furono posti i fondamenti del tempio del Signore, ponete mente.	19 Set your hearts from this day and into the future, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundations of the temple of the Lord have been uttered, and place it upon your heart.
20 Se già il seme non germina, e se anco la vigna e il fico e il melagrano e il legno della uliva non fiorisce? da questo di inanzi gli benedirò.	20 Has the seed been germinated yet? And has the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree still not flourished? From this day on, I will bless you.
21 E parlò il Signore la seconda volta ad Aggeo nel XXIIII dì del mese, dicendo:	21 And the word of the Lord came a second time to Haggai, on the twenty-fourth of the month, saying:
22 Parla a Zorobabel, duca di Giuda, dicendoli: io moverò il cielo, e anche la terra.	22 Speak to Zerubbabel the governor of Judah, saying: I will move both heaven and earth.
23 E sovvertirò la sedia de' reami, e attriterò la fortezza del reame delle genti; e sovvertirò il carro, il cavallo, il cavalcatore suo; e discenderanno i cavalli e li cavalcatori loro; e sarà l' uomo ucciso di coltello dal fratello suo.	23 And I will overturn the throne of kingdoms, and I will crush the strength of the kingdom of the Gentiles. And I will overturn the four-horse chariot, and its rider; and the horses and their riders shall be brought down, a man by the sword of his brother.
24 In quel dì, dice il Signore degli esèrciti, io prenderò te, Zorobabel figliuolo di Salatiel, servo mio, dice il Signore; e porrotti come segnacolo però ch' io t'ho eletto, dice il Signore degli esèrciti.	24 In that day, says the Lord of hosts, I will take you, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, my servant, says the Lord, and will set you like a seal, for I have chosen you, says the Lord of hosts.
