Ezechiele 19

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E tu (figliuolo d'uomo) piglia lo pianto sopra li principi d' Israel.	1 'Now, raise a lament for the princes of Israel.
2 E dirai per che la tua madre leonessa giaceo tra li leoni, in mezzo de' lioncelli nutricò li suoi figliuoli?	2 Say: What was your mother? A lioness among lions; lying among the cubs she nursed her whelps.
3 E trasse uno de' suoi lioncelli, e fue fatto leone, e apparoe a pigliare la preda, e a mangiare l'uomo.	3 She reared one of her whelps: he grew into a young lion; he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.
4 E le genti udirono di lui, e non lo ricevetteno sanza ferite, e menarolo colle catene nella terra d' Egitto.	4 The nations came to hear of him; he was caught in their pit; they dragged him away with hooks toEgypt.
5 La quale quando vidde che era perito lo suo desiderio, però ch' era infermata, tolse uno delli lioncelli suoi, e fecelo leone.	5 Her expectation thwarted, and seeing her hope dashed, she took another of her whelps and made ayoung lion of him.
6 Il quale andava tra' leoni, e fue fatto leone; e apparoe a pigliare la preda e divorare li uomini.	6 He prowled among the lions, he grew into a young lion, he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.
7 E apparoe a fare le femine vedove, e disertare le cittadi loro; e fue desolata la terra e la sua abundanzia, per la voce dello ruggito di colui.	7 He tore down their palaces, he destroyed their cities; the land and al its inhabitants were appal ed bythe sound of his roars.
8 E radunaronsi contro a lui le genti d'ogni parte delle provincie, e sparsono sopra lui la loro rete; e fue preso nelle loro ferite.	8 The nations marched out against him from the surrounding provinces; they spread their net over him;he was caught in their pit.
9 E puoserlo in una gabbia nelle catene, e menarolo allo re di Babilonia, e misorlo in prigione, acciò che la voce sua non fusse udita sopra li monti d' Israel.	9 They shackled him with hooks, they took him to the king of Babylon and threw him into a fortress, sothat his voice could never again be heard on the mountains of Israel.
10 La tua madre come la vigna nel sangue tuo è piantata sopra l'acqua; li suoi frutti e le sue foglie crescerono per le molte acque.	10 Your mother was like a vine planted beside the water, fruitful and leafy, because the water flowed soful .
11 E fatte sono le sue verghe solide nelle verghe delli signori, e la sua statura è esaltata tra le frondi; e vidde la sua altezza nella moltitudine dei suoi rami.	11 She had stout stems which became kingly sceptres; she grew higher and higher, up into the clouds;she was admired for her height and the number of her branches.
12 E fue divelta nell'ira, e fue gittata in terra (al vento), e lo vento abbruciante seccò li suoi frutti; e li suoi rami della sua fortezza infracidarono e diventorono aridi, e lo fuoco se la manicò.	12 But she was furiously uprooted and thrown on the ground; the east wind dried up her fruit, she wasbroken to pieces; her stout stem dried up, the fire devoured it.
13 E ora transpiantata è nel deserto, in terra nella via e siziente, (cioè che si secca, che hae bisogno d'acqua).	13 Now she has been transplanted to the desert, to a dry and thirsty land.
14 E uscio lo fuoco della verga de' suoi rami, lo quale mangiò de' suoi frutti; e non fu in lei una verga che fosse forte, verga regale da signori. E ivi fu pianto, e anche vi sarà pianto.	14 Fire burst out of her stem devouring her branches and fruit. No more stout stem for her, no morekingly sceptre.' This is a lament; it was used as such.
