1 Il savio ricercherae la sapienza di tutti li antichi, e istudierae nelli profeti.	1 The wise men will seek out the wisdom of all the ancients, and will be occupied in the prophets.
2 Conserverae li detti delli famosi uomini, ed entrerae insiememente nelle sagacitadi delle parole.	2 He will keep the sayings of renowned men, and will enter withal into the subtilties of parables.
3 Ricercherae li occulti delli proverbii, e converserae nelli secreti delle parabole.	3 He will search out the hidden meanings of proverbs, and will be conversant in the secrets of parables.
4 Amministrerae tra' grandi uomini, e apparirae nel conspetto de' rettori.	4 He shall serve among great men, and: appear before the governor.
5 Passerae nella terra delle strane genti; tenterae li mali e li beni nelli uomini.	5 He shall pass into strange countries: for he shall try good and evil among men.
6 Il cuore suo darae a vegliare per tempo al Signore che il fece; nel conspetto dello Altissimo pregherae.	6 He will give his heart to resort early to the Lord that made him, and he will pray in the sight of the most High.
7 Aprirà la bocca sua nella orazione, e per li peccati suoi pregherae.	7 He will open his mouth in prayer, and will make supplication for his sins.
8 Se l'alto Dio vorrà, riempierà lui di spirito d' intelligenza.	8 For if it shall please the great Lord, he will fill him with the spirit of understanding:
9 Egli, sì come piova, gitterae dolci parlari della sua sapienza, e nella orazione si confesserae al Signore.	9 And he will pour forth the words of his wisdom as showers, and in his prayer he will confess to the Lord.
10 Egli lo dirizzerae nel consiglio suo e nella disciplina; e nelli secreti suoi il consigliarae.	10 And he shall direct his counsel, and his knowledge, and in his secrets shall he meditate.
11 Farae manifestare la disciplina della sua dottrina, e gloriarassi nella legge del testamento del Signore.	11 He shall shew forth the discipline he hath learned, and shall glory in the law of the covenant of the Lord.
12 Molti loderanno la sapienza sua; infino nel secolo non si cancellerae (il suo senno).	12 Many shall praise his wisdom, and it shall never be forgotten.
13 E nen si partirae la memoria di lui; il nome suo fia richiesto di generazione in generazione.	13 The memory of him shall not depart away, and his name shall be in request from generation to generation.
14 Le genti parleranno della sapienza sua, e la chiesa dirae la lode di colui.	14 Nations shall declare his wisdom, and the church shall shew forth his praise.
15 S'elli basterà, il nome suo lascieranne più di mille; e riposerassi, e gioveragli.	15 If he continue, he shall leave a name above a thousand: and if he rest, it shall be to his advantage.
16 Ancora consiglieroe, acciò che io parli; però che sì come di furore sono pieno.	16 I will yet meditate that I may declare: for I am filled as with a holy transport.
17 Nelle voci dico: udite me, divini frutti, e fruttificate sì come rosa piantata sopra li rivi dell' acqua.	17 By a voice he saith: Hear me, ye divine offspring, and bud forth as the rose planted by the brooks of waters.
18 E fruttificate odore, sì come Libano.	18 Give ye a sweet odour as frankincense.
19 Fiorite fiori, sì come giglio; date odore e fate frondi in grazia, e conlaudate in cantico, e benedite Iddio nell' opere sue.	19 Send forth flowers, as the lily, and yield a smell, and bring forth leaves in grace, and praise with canticles, and bless the Lord in his works.
20 Date al nome suo magnificenza, e confessatevi a lui nella voce delle labbra vostre nelle citare; e direte così nella confessione vostra :	20 Magnify his name, and give glory to him with the voice of your lips, and with the canticles of your mouths, and with harps, and in praising him, you shall say in this manner:
21 L'opere del Signore sono tutte buone.	21 All the works of the Lord are exceeding good.
22 Nella parola sua stette l'acqua sì come uno muro, e nel sermone dalla sua bocca sì come li ricevimenti delle acque.	22 At his word the waters stood as a heap: and at the words of his mouth the receptacles of waters:
23 Però che [nel] li suoi comandamenti egli è pacificatore, e non è scemamento nella salute sua.	23 For at his commandment favour is shewn, and there is no diminishing of his salvation.
24 L'opera d' ogni uomo è dinanzi da lui; nulla cosa è nascosa dinanzi dagli occhi suoi.	24 The works of all flesh are before him, and there is nothing hid from his eyes.
25 Di secolo in secolo guarda, e non è nel conspetto suo cosa ammirabile.	25 He seeth from eternity to eternity, and there is nothing wonderful before him.
26 Non è a lui a dire: che è questo, o che è quello? tutte cose in loro tempo si domanderanno.	26 There is no saying: What is this, or what is that? for all things shall be sought in their time.
27 La sua benedizione sì come uno fiume si spanderà.	27 His blessing hath overflowed like a river.
28 Come il diluvio inebriò la terra, così l'ira sua erediterae nelle genti che non cercarono lui.	28 And as a flood hath watered the earth; so shall his wrath inherit the nations, that have not sought after him:
29 Com' elli l'acqua convertì in siccità, e la terra è seccata, così [come] le vie della terra alle vie di loro (cioè de' fiumi) sono dirette; così saranno le offensioni nell' ira sua a' peccatori.	29 Even as he turned the waters into a dry land, and the earth was made dry: and his ways were made plain for their journey: so to sinners they are stumblingblocks in his wrath.
30 Dal cominciamento li beni sono creati alli buoni; così alli rei e li beni e li mali.	30 Good things were created for the good from the beginning, so for the wicked, good and evil things.
31 Il principio della cosa necessaria della vita degli uomini si è: acqua, fuoco, ferro e sale e latte e pane di farina monda, e miele e grappolo d' uva e olio e vestimento.	31 The principal things necessary for the life of men, are water, fire, and iron, salt, milk, and bread of flour, and honey, and the cluster of the grape, and oil, and clothing.
32 Queste cose a' santi tutte sono ne' beni; e così si convertono in male alli malvagi e alli peccatori.	32 All these things shall be for good to the holy, so to the sinners and the ungodly they shall be turned into evil.
33 Sono spiriti (maligni), li quali sono creati a vendetta (de' rei); e nello suo furore confermarono li suoi tormenti.	33 There are spirits that are created for vengeance, and in their fury they lay on grievous torments.
34 Nel tempo della fine del secolo getteranno la forza; e ritornerà in sè medesimi il furore di colui che gli fece.	34 In the time of destruction they shall pour out their force: and they shall appease the wrath of him that made them.
35 Fuoco, gragnuola, fame e morte, tutte queste cose sono create a vendetta;	35 Fire, hail, famine, and death, all these were created for vengeance.
36 li denti delle bestie, li scorpioni e li serpenti e la spada che punisce in disterminamento delli iniqui.	36 The teeth of beasts, and scorpions, and serpents, and the sword taking vengeance upon the ungodly unto destruction.
37 Pascerannosi nelli comandamenti suoi, e apparecchierannosi sopra terra nella necessitade, e nelli suoi tempi non travalicheranno punto.	37 In his commandments they shall feast, and they shall be ready upon earth when need is, and when their time is come they shall not transgress his word.
38 Però sono io (sapienza) confermata dal principio; io mi consigliai e pensai e lasciai alle scritture.	38 Therefore from the beginning I was resolved, and I have meditated, and thought on these things and left them in writing.
39 Tutte l'opere di Dio sono buone, e ciascuna opera governa li suoi pesi.	39 All the works of the Lord are good, and he will furnish every work in due time.
40 Non è dire: questa cosa è peggiore di quella; ogni cosa si prova nel suo tempo.	40 It is not to be said: This is worse than that: for all shall be well approved in their time.
41 E ora benedite e collaudate insieme il nome di Dio in ogni cuore e in ogni bocca.	41 Now therefore with the whole heart and mouth praise ye him, and bless the name of the Lord.
