1 Ella dunque aggiugne dalla fine alla fine, e dispone soavemente (e fortemente) tutte le cose.	1 Indeed, she reaches from end to end mightily and governs all things well.
2 Io amai costei, e cercaine infino della giovinezza mia; e cercai di torla per mia sposa, e sono fatto amatore della sua bellezza.	2 Her I loved and sought after from my youth; I sought to take her for my bride and was enamored of her beauty.
3 L'uso di Dio glorifica la sua nobiltade; e Iddio di tutte le opere amoe lei.	3 She adds to nobility the splendor of companionship with God; even the LORD of all loved her.
4 Ella è (maestra e) dottrinante della scienza di Dio, e sì è eleggitrice delle opere di colui.	4 For she is instructress in the understanding of God, the selector of his works.
5 E se in la vita amate sono le ricchezze, qual cosa è più ricca che la sapienza, la quale opera tutte le cose?	5 And if riches be a desirable possession in life, what is more rich than Wisdom, who produces all things?
6 Se il senno adopera tutte le cose, qual è di queste cose, che sono, più artefice (di quelle) della sapienza?	6 And if prudence renders service, who in the world is a better craftsman than she?
7 E se alcuno ama la giustizia, le operazioni della sapienza hanno in ciò grande virtude; però che insegna temperanza e prudenza, e virtude e giustizia, delle quali nulla è meglio alli uomini nella loro vita.	7 Or if one loves justice, the fruits of her works are virtues; For she teaches moderation and prudence, justice and fortitude, and nothing in life is more useful for men than these.
8 E se alcuno desidera grande moltitudine di scienza, sae le cose passate, ed estima di quelle che sono a venire; egli sae le malizie e ingegni delli uomini, e sae dissolvere li argomenti; e sae (gl' ingegni delli uomini e) le cose che debbono venire inanzi che sieno, e li avvenimenti delli tempi e delli secoli.	8 Or again, if one yearns for copious learning, she knows the things of old, and infers those yet to come. She understands the turns of phrases and the solutions of riddles; signs and wonders she knows in advance and the outcome of times and ages.
9 Io mi proposi di menare al mio convito la sapienza, sapiendo ch' ella comunicherae meco dei beni, e sarae uno alleggiamento e conforto del mio pensiero e del mio increscimento.	9 So I determined to take her to live with me, knowing that she would be my counselor while all was well, and my comfort in care and grief.
10 Io hoe per costei claritade appo li popoli, e onore appo li vecchii, giovane.	10 For her sake I should have glory among the masses, and esteem from the elders, though I be but a youth.
11 Acuto (e bene disposto) sarò trovato nel giudicio, e sarò mirabile nel conspetto de' potenti; e le faccie de' principi si maraviglieranno di me.	11 I should become keen in judgment, and should be a marvel before rulers.
12 Loro sosteneranno me tacente, e guarderanno me parlante; e porranno la sua mano in su la sua bocca, quando sermoneroe più cose.	12 They would abide my silence and attend my utterance; and as I spoke on further, they would place their hands upon their mouths.
13 Per costei avrò immortalitade, e a quelli che saranno dopo me eterna memoria.	13 For her sake I should have immortality and leave to those after me an everlasting memory.
14 (Io per lei) ordinerò li popoli; e le genti saranno sottoposte a me.	14 I should govern peoples, and nations would be my subjects-
15 Li re che mi ascolteranno temeranno me, (e temeranno me) li re terribili; e appariroe nella moltitudine buono, e nella battaglia forte.	15 terrible princes, hearing of me, would be afraid; in the assembly I should appear noble, and in war courageous.
16 Ed entrando in casa mia, mi riposerò con lei; la sua conversazione non hae amaritudine; il suo convento non ha fastidio, ma letizia e gaudio.	16 Within my dwelling, I should take my repose beside her; For association with her involves no bitterness and living with her no grief, but rather joy and gladness.
17 Pensando queste cose appo me, e commemorando nel cuore mio, che la sapienza è immortale in lo intelletto e conoscimento,	17 Thinking thus within myself, and reflecting in my heart That there is immortality in kinship with Wisdom,
18 e che nella sua amistade è buona dilettazione, e che nell' opere delle mani sue sì è (amistade e) onestade sanza difetto, e che nel contendimento del suo parlare è sapienza, e molto grande chiarezza nella comunicazione de' suoi sermoni; io cercando andava d' intorno per tormela.	18 and good pleasure in her friendship, and unfailing riches in the works of her hands, And that in frequenting her society there is prudence, and fair renown in sharing her discourses, I went about seeking to take her for my own.
19 Io era fanciullo ingegnoso, e hoe acquistata buona anima.	19 Now, I was a well-favored child, and I came by a noble nature;
20 E allora che io era più buono, venni allo corpo non corrotto.	20 or rather, being noble, I attained an unsullied body.
21 E quando seppi che io non poteva essere altrimenti continente, se Iddio non lo dà; e che questa medesima cosa era dalla sapienza, per sapere di cui era questo dono; andai a Dio, e pregai lui, e dissi con tutto il mio cuore:	21 And knowing that I could not otherwise possess her except God gave it-- and this, too, was prudence, to know whose is the gift-- I went to the LORD and besought him, and said with all my heart:
