1 (Salmo di David, quand'era nel deserto dell'Idumea).	1 [For the choirmaster . . . Jeduthun Psalm Of David] In God alone there is rest for my soul, from himcomes my safety;
2 O Dio, o Dio mio, per te veglio dalla prima luce. Ha sete di te l'anima mia e molto più la mia carne,	2 he alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold so that I stand unshaken.
3 In una terra deserta, impraticabile e senz'acqua. Così mi presentai nel santuario, per contemplar la tua potenza e la tua gloria.	3 How much longer wil you set on a victim, al together, intent on murder, like a rampart already leaningover, a wall already damaged?
4 Perchè più preziosa della vita è la tua grazia, le mie labbra ti loderanno.	4 Trickery is their only plan, deception their only pleasure, with lies on their lips they pronounce ablessing, with a curse in their hearts.Pause
5 Così io ti benedirò tutta la vita e nel nome tuo alzerò le mie mani.	5 Rest in God alone, my soul! He is the source of my hope.
6 L'anima mia sarà sazia come di midollo e di grasso e con voci di giubilo ti loderà la miabocca.	6 He alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold, so that I stand unwavering.
7 Se mi ricordo di te nel mio letto, te mediterò nelle mie veglie,	7 In God is my safety and my glory, the rock of my strength. In God is my refuge;
8 Perchè tu sei il mio aiuto: Io esulto all'ombra delle tue ali;	8 trust in him, you people, at al times. Pour out your hearts to him, God is a refuge for us.Pause
9 A te si tiene stretta l'anima mia, mentre la tua destra mi sostiene.	9 Ordinary people are a mere puff of wind, important people a delusion; set both on the scales together,and they are lighter than a puff of wind.
10 Essi invano han cercato la mia vita, sprofonderanno negli abissi,	10 Put no trust in extortion, no empty hopes in robbery; however much wealth may multiply, do not setyour heart on it.
11 Cadran sotto la spada, saran preda degli sciacalli.	11 Once God has spoken, twice have I heard this: Strength belongs to God,
12 Il re invece si rallegrerà in Dio, saran lodati quelli che giuran per lui, perchè sarà chiusa la bocca dei malignatori.	12 to you, Lord, faithful love; and you repay everyone as their deeds deserve.
