SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 وارسل حيرام ملك صور رسلا الى داود وخشب ارز وبنائين ونجارين ليبنوا له بيتا.	1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.
2 وعلم داود ان الرب قد اثبته ملكا على اسرائيل لان مملكته ارتفعت متصاعدة من اجل شعبه اسرائيل	2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.
3 واخذ داود نساء ايضا في اورشليم وولد ايضا داود بنين وبنات	3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.
4 وهذه اسماء الاولاد الذين كانوا له في اورشليم. شمّوع وشوباب وناثان وسليمان	4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 ويبحار واليشوع والفالط	5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6 ونوجه ونافج ويافيع	6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7 واليشمع وبعلياداع واليفلط	7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.
8 وسمع الفلسطينيون ان داود قد مسح ملكا على كل اسرائيل فصعد كل الفلسطينيين ليفتشوا على داود. ولما سمع داود خرج لاستقبالهم.	8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.
9 فجاء الفلسطينيون وانتشروا في وادي الرفائيين.	9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.
10 فسأل داود من الله قائلا أأصعد على الفلسطينيين فتدفعهم ليدي. فقال له الرب اصعد فادفعهم ليدك.	10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'
11 فصعدوا الى بعل فراصيم وضربهم داود هناك. وقال داود قد اقتحم الله اعدائي بيدي كاقتحام المياه. لذلك دعوا اسم ذلك الموضع بعل فراصيم.	11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.
12 وتركوا هناك آلهتهم فامر داود فأحرقت بالنار.	12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.
13 ثم عاد الفلسطينيون ايضا وانتشروا في الوادي.	13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.
14 فسأل ايضا داود من الله فقال له الله لا تصعد وراءهم تحوّل عنهم وهلم عليهم مقابل اشجار البكا.	14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.
15 وعندما تسمع صوت خطوات في رؤوس اشجار البكا فاخرج حينئذ للحرب لان الله يخرج امامك لضرب محلّة الفلسطينيين.	15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'
16 ففعل داود كما امره الله وضربوا محلّة الفلسطينيين من جبعون الى جازر	16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.
17 وخرج اسم داود الى جميع الاراضي وجعل الرب هيبته على جميع الامم	17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.
