Apocalisse 12

1 E un segno grandioso apparve nel cielo: una donna vestita di sole, con la luna sotto i suoi piedi e una corona di dodici stelle sul suo capo:	1 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and on her head was a crown of twelve stars.
2 era incinta e gridava in preda alle doglie e al travaglio del parto.	2 And being with child, she cried out while giving birth, and she was suffering in order to give birth.
3 E un altro segno apparve nel cielo; ecco: un grosso dragone, rosso-vivo, con sette teste e dieci corna. Sulle teste vi erano sette diademi;	3 And another sign was seen in heaven. And behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems.
4 la sua coda si trascinava dietro la terza parte degli astri del cielo e li precipitava sulla terra. Il dragone si pose di fronte alla donna che era sul punto di partorire, per divorare il bimbo non appena fosse nato.	4 And his tail drew down a third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman, who was about to give birth, so that, when she had brought forth, he might devour her son.
5 Essa quindi diede alla luce un figlio, un maschio, quello che era destinato a governare tutte le nazioni con verga di ferro. Subito fu rapito il figlio di lei verso Dio, verso il trono di lui;	5 And she brought forth a male child, who was soon to rule all the nations with an iron rod. And her son was taken up to God and to his throne.
6 mentre la donna riparò nel deserto, dove ha un luogo preparato da Dio per esservi nutrita per lo spazio di milleduecentosessanta giorni.	6 And the woman fled into solitude, where a place was being held ready by God, so that they might pasture her in that place for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
7 E vi fu guerra in cielo: Michele con i suoi angeli ingaggiò battaglia con il dragone; e questo combatté insieme ai suoi angeli;	7 And there was a great battle in heaven. Michael and his Angels were battling with the dragon, and the dragon was fighting, and so were his angels.
8 ma non prevalsero: il loro posto non si trovò più nel cielo.	8 But they did not prevail, and a place for them was no longer found in heaven.
9 Fu infatti scacciato il grande dragone, il serpente antico, quello che è chiamato diavolo e Satana; colui che inganna tutta la terra fu precipitato sulla terra e con lui furono precipitati anche i suoi angeli.	9 And he was thrown out, that great dragon, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduces the whole world. And he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.
10 Udii allora nel cielo una gran voce che diceva: "Ora si è attuata la salvezza, la potenza e la regalità del nostro Dio e il potere del suo Cristo, poiché è stato scacciato l'accusatore dei nostri fratelli, colui che giorno e notte li accusava davanti al nostro Dio.	10 And I heard a great voice in heaven, saying: “Now have arrived salvation and virtue and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers has been cast down, he who accused them before our God day and night.
11 Ma essi lo hanno vinto mediante il sangue dell'Agnello e per la parola da loro testimoniata; non amando la loro vita fino alla morte!	11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of his testimony. And they loved not their own lives, even unto death.
12 Per questo rallegratevi, o cieli, e voi che in essi dimorate. Guai alla terra e al mare, ché il diavolo a voi è disceso: un'ira veemente ha nel cuore, perché sa che breve è il suo tempo".	12 Because of this, rejoice, O heavens, and all who dwell within it. Woe to the earth and to the sea! For the devil has descended to you, holding great anger, knowing that he has little time.”
13 Il dragone, vistosi scaraventato sulla terra, si accinse a perseguitare la donna, quella che aveva dato alla luce il figlio maschio.	13 And after the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who brought forth the male child.
14 Ma furono date alla donna le due ali della grande aquila con cui poter volare nel deserto, nel suo luogo, dove è nutrita per un tempo, (due) tempi e la metà d'un tempo, al riparo dagli attacchi del serpente.	14 And the two wings of a great eagle were given to the woman, so that she might fly away, into the desert, to her place, where she is being nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
15 Allora questo vomitò dalla sua bocca un fiume di acqua gettandola contro la donna per sommergerla;	15 And the serpent sent out from his mouth, after the woman, water like a river, so that he might cause her to be carried away by the river.
16 ma ad essa venne in soccorso la terra che aprì la sua bocca e assorbì il fiume che il dragone aveva emesso dalla sua bocca.	16 But the earth assisted the woman. And the earth opened her mouth and absorbed the river, which the dragon sent out from his mouth.
17 Allora questo s'adirò maggiormente contro la donna e si mise a far guerra contro i rimanenti della discendenza di lei, quelli che osservano i comandamenti di Dio e posseggono la testimonianza di Gesù.	17 And the dragon was angry at the woman. And so he went away to do battle with the remainder of her offspring, those who keep the commandments of God and who hold to the testimony of Jesus Christ.
18 Si pose quindi sulla spiaggia del mare.	18 And he stood upon the sand of the sea.
