1 C'erano nella chiesa stabilita ad Antiochia profeti e dottori: Bàrnaba, Simeone detto il Nero, Lucio di Cirene, Manaèn, educato insieme ad Erode il tetrarca, e Saulo.	1 Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 Mentre essi prestavano servizio cultuale al Signore e facevano digiuni, lo Spirito Santo disse: "Mettetemi da parte Bàrnaba e Saulo per l'opera a cui li ho destinati".	2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."
3 Allora, dopo aver digiunato e pregato, imposero loro le mani e li lasciarono partire.	3 Then, completing their fasting and prayer, they laid hands on them and sent them off.
4 Essi, mandati in missione dallo Spirito Santo, scesero a Seleucia e di là si imbarcarono per Cipro.	4 So they, sent forth by the holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and from there sailed to Cyprus.
5 Giunti a Salamina, vi annunciavano la parola di Dio nelle sinagoghe dei Giudei. Avevano anche Giovanni come aiutante.	5 When they arrived in Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. They had John also as their assistant.
6 Attraversata tutta l'isola fino a Pafo, trovarono un mago, uno pseudoprofeta giudeo, di nome Bar-Iesus,	6 When they had traveled through the whole island as far as Paphos, they met a magician named Bar-Jesus who was a Jewish false prophet.
7 che stava col proconsole Sergio Paolo, uomo intelligente. Costui fece chiamare Bàrnaba e Saulo, perché desiderava ascoltare la parola di Dio.	7 He was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who had summoned Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear the word of God.
8 Ma Elimas, il mago (questo infatti è il significato del suo nome), si opponeva loro cercando di distogliere il proconsole dalla fede.	8 But Elymas the magician (for that is what his name means) opposed them in an attempt to turn the proconsul away from the faith.
9 Allora Saulo, detto anche Paolo, pieno di Spirito Santo, fissandolo in volto disse:	9 But Saul, also known as Paul, filled with the holy Spirit, looked intently at him
10 "Uomo ricolmo di ogni inganno e di ogni malizia, figlio del diavolo, nemico di ogni giustizia, non la finirai di distorcere le vie rette del Signore?	10 and said, "You son of the devil, you enemy of all that is right, full of every sort of deceit and fraud. Will you not stop twisting the straight paths of (the) Lord?
11 Ed ora, ecco, la mano del Signore è su di te: resterai cieco e per un certo tempo non potrai vedere la luce del sole". In quell'istante buio e oscurità lo avvolsero ed egli andava intorno cercando chi lo conducesse per mano.	11 Even now the hand of the Lord is upon you. You will be blind, and unable to see the sun for a time." Immediately a dark mist fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand.
12 Allora il proconsole, vedendo ciò che era accaduto, abbracciò la fede, colpito dalla dottrina del Signore.	12 When the proconsul saw what had happened, he came to believe, for he was astonished by the teaching about the Lord.
13 Paolo e i suoi compagni s'imbarcarono da Pafo e giunsero a Perge di Panfilia. Giovanni si separò da loro e ritornò a Gerusalemme.	13 From Paphos, Paul and his companions set sail and arrived at Perga in Pamphylia. But John left them and returned to Jerusalem.
14 Essi, partendo da Perge, con una traversata giunsero ad Antiochia di Pisidia. Il giorno di sabato entrarono nella sinagoga e si posero a sedere.	14 They continued on from Perga and reached Antioch in Pisidia. On the sabbath they entered (into) the synagogue and took their seats.
15 Dopo la lettura della legge e dei profeti, i capi della sinagoga mandarono a dir loro: "Fratelli, se avete qualche parola d'esortazione per il popolo, ditela".	15 After the reading of the law and the prophets, the synagogue officials sent word to them, "My brothers, if one of you has a word of exhortation for the people, please speak."
16 Allora Paolo, alzatosi e fatto segno con la mano, disse: "Uomini d'Israele e voi che temete Dio, ascoltate.	16 So Paul got up, motioned with his hand, and said, "Fellow Israelites and you others who are God-fearing, listen.
17 Il Dio di questo popolo d'Israele scelse i padri nostri ed esaltò il popolo durante la sua dimora in Egitto, e con opere prodigiose li condusse fuori da quella terra.	17 The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors and exalted the people during their sojourn in the land of Egypt. With uplifted arm he led them out of it
18 Per circa quarant'anni li assisté nel deserto.	18 and for about forty years he put up with them in the desert.
19 Poi distrusse sette popoli nella terra di Canaan e diede ad essi in eredità la loro terra:	19 When he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance
20 tutto ciò nello spazio di circa quattrocentocinquant'anni. Dopo diede loro dei giudici fino al profeta Samuele.	20 at the end of about four hundred and fifty years. After these things he provided judges up to Samuel (the) prophet.
21 Poi chiesero un re e Dio diede loro Saul figlio di Cis, della tribù di Beniamino, per quarant'anni.	21 Then they asked for a king. God gave them Saul, son of Kish, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.
22 Dopo averlo deposto, suscitò loro un altro re, Davide, e gli rese questa testimonianza: Ho trovato Davide, figlio di Iesse, secondo il mio cuore, che eseguirà tutti i miei voleri.	22 Then he removed him and raised up David as their king; of him he testified, 'I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will carry out my every wish.'
23 Dalla sua discendenza Dio, secondo la promessa, trasse un salvatore per Israele, Gesù.	23 From this man's descendants God, according to his promise, has brought to Israel a savior, Jesus.
24 Giovanni preparò la sua venuta predicando un battesimo di penitenza a tutto il popolo d'Israele.	24 John heralded his coming by proclaiming a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel;
25 E quando Giovanni stava per compiere la sua missione, diceva: "Io non sono ciò che voi pensate che io sia; ma ecco, viene dopo di me uno a cui io non sono degno di slegare i sandali".	25 and as John was completing his course, he would say, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. Behold, one is coming after me; I am not worthy to unfasten the sandals of his feet.'
26 Fratelli, figli della stirpe di Abramo, e voi che temete Dio, è a noi che è stato mandato questo messaggio di salvezza.	26 "My brothers, children of the family of Abraham, and those others among you who are God-fearing, to us this word of salvation has been sent.
27 Infatti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e i loro capi, rifiutando di riconoscere lui e non comprendendo gli oracoli dei profeti che si leggono ogni sabato, li hanno adempiuti, pronunciando la sua condanna.	27 The inhabitants of Jerusalem and their leaders failed to recognize him, and by condemning him they fulfilled the oracles of the prophets that are read sabbath after sabbath.
28 E pur non avendo trovato nessun motivo di condanna a morte, chiesero a Pilato che fosse ucciso.	28 For even though they found no grounds for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him put to death,
29 Quando ebbero compiuto tutto ciò che era stato scritto intorno a lui, lo deposero dal patibolo e lo misero in un sepolcro.	29 and when they had accomplished all that was written about him, they took him down from the tree and placed him in a tomb.
30 Ma Dio l'ha risuscitato dai morti	30 But God raised him from the dead,
31 ed è apparso durante molti giorni a quelli che erano saliti con lui dalla Galilea a Gerusalemme, i quali ora sono suoi testimoni davanti al popolo.	31 and for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These are (now) his witnesses before the people.
32 E noi vi proclamiamo la buona novella: la promessa fatta ai padri	32 We ourselves are proclaiming this good news to you that what God promised our ancestors
33 Dio l'ha adempiuta per noi, loro figli, facendo risorgere Gesù, come è scritto nel salmo secondo: Tu sei mio figlio, io oggi ti ho generato.	33 he has brought to fulfillment for us, (their) children, by raising up Jesus, as it is written in the second psalm, 'You are my son; this day I have begotten you.'
34 Che poi lo abbia fatto risuscitare dai morti così che non ritorni alla corruzione, lo ha detto affermando: Darò a voi le cose sante di Davide, quelle permanenti.	34 And that he raised him from the dead never to return to corruption he declared in this way, 'I shall give you the benefits assured to David.'
35 Perciò dice ancora in un altro luogo: Non permetterai che il tuo santo veda la corruzione.	35 That is why he also says in another psalm, 'You will not suffer your holy one to see corruption.'
36 Davide infatti, dopo aver adempiuto nella sua generazione la volontà di Dio, si addormentò, fu sepolto con i suoi padri e vide la corruzione.	36 Now David, after he had served the will of God in his lifetime, fell asleep, was gathered to his ancestors, and did see corruption.
37 Ma colui che Dio ha risuscitato non ha visto la corruzione.	37 But the one whom God raised up did not see corruption.
38 Vi sia dunque noto, o fratelli, che per mezzo suo a voi è annunciato il perdono dei peccati. E l'intera giustificazione, che non avete potuto ottenere mediante la legge di Mosè,	38 You must know, my brothers, that through him forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you, (and) in regard to everything from which you could not be justified under the law of Moses,
39 per mezzo suo la ottiene chiunque crede.	39 in him every believer is justified.
40 Guardate perciò che non si avveri per voi la parola dei profeti:	40 Be careful, then, that what was said in the prophets not come about:
41 Guardate, o spergiuri, stupitevi e allibite, perché io farò un'opera nei vostri giorni, un'opera che non la credereste se ve la raccontassero".	41 'Look on, you scoffers, be amazed and disappear. For I am doing a work in your days, a work that you will never believe even if someone tells you.'"
42 All'uscita li pregavano di parlare loro di queste cose anche nel sabato seguente.	42 As they were leaving, they invited them to speak on these subjects the following sabbath.
43 Scioltasi l'adunanza, molti Giudei e proseliti adoratori di Dio accompagnarono Paolo e Bàrnaba, i quali, continuando a parlare loro, li persuasero a perseverare nella grazia di Dio.	43 After the congregation had dispersed, many Jews and worshipers who were converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to remain faithful to the grace of God.
44 Il sabato seguente quasi tutta la città si radunò per ascoltare la parola di Dio.	44 On the following sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.
45 I Giudei, vedendo quella folla, furono presi da gelosia e contraddicevano alle cose dette da Paolo, bestemmiando.	45 When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and with violent abuse contradicted what Paul said.
46 Allora Paolo e Bàrnaba, pieni di ardire, dissero: "Era necessario annunciare a voi prima di tutti la parola di Dio. Ma poiché la respingete e non vi ritenete degni della vita eterna, ecco, ci rivolgiamo ai pagani!	46 Both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, "It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first, but since you reject it and condemn yourselves as unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.
47 Così infatti ci ha ordinato il Signore: Ti ho posto a luce delle genti perché tu porti la salvezza fino all'estremità della terra".	47 For so the Lord has commanded us, 'I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth.'"
48 I pagani che ascoltavano ciò si rallegravano e glorificavano la parola di Dio, e quanti erano preordinati alla vita eterna abbracciarono la fede.	48 The Gentiles were delighted when they heard this and glorified the word of the Lord. All who were destined for eternal life came to believe,
49 La parola del Signore si diffondeva per tutta la regione.	49 and the word of the Lord continued to spread through the whole region.
50 Ma i Giudei istigarono le donne devote della nobiltà e gli uomini di primo piano della città, suscitarono una persecuzione contro Paolo e Barnaba e li cacciarono dai loro confini.	50 The Jews, however, incited the women of prominence who were worshipers and the leading men of the city, stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their territory.
51 Essi allora, scuotendo la polvere dai loro piedi contro di essi, se ne vennero a Iconio,	51 So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium.
52 mentre i discepoli erano pieni di letizia e di Spirito Santo.	52 The disciples were filled with joy and the holy Spirit.
