LA SACRA BIBBIA	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Chiram, re di Tiro, inviò dei messaggeri a Davide con legname di cedro, muratori e falegnami per costruirgli una casa.	1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.
2 Allora Davide riconobbe che il Signore l'aveva stabilito re su Israele, perché il suo regno, a causa del suo popolo d'Israele, era grandemente esaltato.	2 And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, and that his kingdom was exalted over his people Israel.
3 Davide si prese altre mogli in Gerusalemme e generò figli e figlie.	3 And David took other wives in Jerusalem: and he beget sons, and daughters.
4 Questi sono i nomi dei figli che ebbe Davide in Gerusalemme: Sammua, Sobab, Natan, Salomone,	4 Now these are the names of them that were born to him in Jerusalem: Samua, and Sobad, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 Ibcar, Elisua, Elipelet,	5 Jebahar, and Elisua, and Eliphalet,
6 Noga, Nefeg, Iafia,	6 And Noga, and Napheg, and Japhia,
7 Elisamà, Beeliada ed Elifèlet.	7 Elisama. and Baaliada, and Eliphalet.
8 Quando i Filistei appresero che Davide era stato unto re su tutto Israele, salirono tutti per ricercarlo. Saputolo, Davide uscì loro incontro.	8 And the Philistines hearing that David was anointed king over all Israel, went all up to seek him: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
9 I Filistei, appena giunti, si sparpagliarono per la vallata di Rèfaim.	9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the vale of Raphaim.
10 Davide consultò Dio così: "Se io marcerò contro i Filistei, tu li consegnerai in mio potere?". Il Signore gli rispose: "Marcia, e io li consegnerò in tuo potere".	10 And David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I go up against the Philistines, and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him: Go up, and I will deliver them into thy hand.
11 Quelli salirono a Baal-Perazìm e quivi Davide li sconfisse. Questi allora disse: "Dio ha aperto per mio mezzo una breccia tra i miei nemici, come una breccia prodotta dall'acqua". Perciò mise a questo luogo il nome di Baal-Perazìm.	11 And when they were come to Baalpharasim, David defeated them there, and he said: God hath divided my enemies by my hand, as waters are divided: and therefore the name of that place was called Baalpharasim.
12 I Filistei abbandonarono ivi i loro idoli e Davide ordinò che venissero bruciati nel fuoco.	12 And they left there their gods, and David commanded that they should be burnt.
13 Ancora una volta i Filistei ricominciarono a sparpagliarsi per la vallata.	13 Another time also the Philistines made an irruption, and spread themselves abroad in the valley.
14 Di nuovo Davide consultò Dio che gli rispose: "Non salire dietro di loro, aggirali a distanza per raggiungerli dalla parte di Becaim.	14 And David consulted God again, and God said to him: Go not up after them, turn away from them, and come upon them over against the pear trees.
15 Quando sentirai un rumore di passi fra le cime degli alberi, allora uscirai a combattere, perché Dio uscirà davanti a te per sconfiggere il campo dei Filistei".	15 And when thou shalt hear the sound of one going in the tops of the pear trees, then shalt thou go out to battle. For God is gone out before thee to strike the army of the Philistines.
16 Davide fece come Dio gli aveva ordinato e sconfisse l'esercito dei Filistei da Gabaon fino a Ghezer.	16 And David did as God had commanded him, and defeated the army of the Philistines, slaying them from Gabaon to Gazera.
17 La fama di Davide si diffuse in tutti i paesi, mentre il Signore lo rendeva temibile fra tutte le nazioni.	17 And the name of David became famous in all countries, and the Lord made all nations fear him.
