1 Abramo prese un'altra moglie: essa aveva nome Chetura.	1 Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
2 Essa gli partorì Zimran, Ioksan, Medan, Madian, Isbak e Suach.	2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
3 Ioksan generò Saba e Dedan e i figli di Dedan furono gli Asurim, i Letusim e i Leummim.	3 And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
4 I figli di Madian furono Efa, Efer, Enoch, Abida ed Eldaa. Tutti questi sono i figli di Chetura.	4 And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5 Abramo diede tutti i suoi beni a Isacco.	5 And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
6 Quanto ai figli che Abramo aveva avuto dalle concubine, diede loro doni e, mentre era ancora in vita, li licenziò mandandoli lontano da Isacco suo figlio, verso oriente, nella terra d'oriente.	6 But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.
7 Questa è la durata della vita di Abramo: centosettantacinque anni.	7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.
8 Poi Abramo spirò e morì dopo una felice vecchiaia, vecchio e sazio di giorni e fu riunito ai suoi antenati.	8 Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
9 Lo seppellirono i suoi figli Isacco e Ismaele nella caverna di Macpela, nel campo di Efron figlio di Socar, l'hittita, di fronte a Mamre.	9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;
10 E' appunto il campo che Abramo aveva comprato dagli Hittiti. Ivi furono sepolti Abramo e Sara sua moglie.	10 The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11 Dopo la morte di Abramo, Dio benedisse il figlio di lui Isacco; e Isacco abitò presso il pozzo di Lacai-Roi.	11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahai-roi.
12 Questi sono i discendenti di Ismaele, figlio di Abramo, che Agar l'egiziana, schiava di Sara, gli aveva partorito.	12 Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:
13 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Ismaele, con i loro nomi in ordine di generazione: il primogenito di Ismaele è Nebaiòt, poi Kedar, Adbeèl, Mibsam,	13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
14 Misma, Duma, Massa,	14 And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
15 Adad, Tema, Ietur, Nafis, Kedma.	15 Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:
16 Questi sono i figli di Ismaele e questi sono i nomi loro e dei loro attendamenti e accampamenti. Sono i dodici principi delle relative genti.	16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
17 E questi sono gli anni di vita di Ismaele: centotrentasette anni; poi spirò e morì e fu riunito ai suoi antenati.	17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.
18 Egli abitò da Avila fino a Sur, che è lungo il confine dell'Egitto, in direzione di Assur. Egli si era accampato di fronte a tutti i propri fratelli.	18 And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.
19 Questa è la storia della discendenza di Isacco, figlio di Abramo. Abramo aveva generato Isacco.	19 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:
20 Isacco aveva quarant'anni quando prese per sé Rebecca, figlia di Betuèl, l'arameo di Paddan-Aram e sorella di Làbano l'arameo.	20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
21 Isacco supplicò il Signore per sua moglie, perché essa era sterile, e il Signore lo esaudì, cosicché Rebecca sua moglie divenne incinta.	21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22 Se non che i figli si pressavano l'un l'altro dentro di lei, ond'ella disse: "Se è così, perché questo?...". E andò a consultare il Signore.	22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD.
23 Il Signore rispose: "Due clan nel tuo ventre e due popoli dalle tue viscere si separeranno. Un popolo prevarrà sull'altro popolo e il maggiore servirà il minore".	23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
24 Quando poi si fu compiuto per lei il tempo in cui doveva partorire, ecco che due gemelli le stavano nel ventre.	24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25 Il primo uscì rossiccio, come un peloso mantello, e lo chiamarono Esaù.	25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.
26 Subito dopo uscì suo fratello nell'atto di tenere con la mano il calcagno di Esaù, e lo si chiamò Giacobbe. Isacco aveva sessant'anni, alla loro nascita.	26 And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
27 I fanciulli crebbero. Esaù divenne un uomo assuefatto alla caccia, un uomo della steppa, mentre Giacobbe era un uomo tranquillo, che dimorava sotto le tende.	27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
28 Isacco prese ad amare Esaù, perché la cacciagione era di suo gusto, mentre Rebecca amava Giacobbe.	28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29 Una volta che Giacobbe aveva fatto cuocere una minestra, arrivò Esaù dalla steppa tutto trafelato.	29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
30 Allora Esaù disse a Giacobbe: "Fammi trangugiare, per carità, un po' di questa minestra rossa, perché io sono sfinito!". Per questo fu chiamato il suo nome Edom.	30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
31 Giacobbe rispose: "Anzitutto vendi la tua primogenitura a me".	31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
32 Di rimando Esaù: "Eccomi sul punto di morire, e a che cosa mi vale una primogenitura?".	32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
33 Giacobbe allora disse: "Giuramelo immediatamente!". E quello glielo giurò e vendette la sua primogenitura a Giacobbe.	33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34 Giacobbe diede allora a Esaù pane e minestra di lenticchie. Quello mangiò, bevve, poi si levò andandosene. Tanto poco stimò Esaù la primogenitura!	34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
