1 - Poi che il sangue de' colpevoli fu così versato, disse il Signore a Mosè e ad Eleazaro sacerdote figlio d'Aronne:	1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:
2 «Fate il computo di tutt'i figli d'Israele atti alla guerra, da vent'anni in su, secondo le casate e famiglie loro».	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'
3 Mosè pertanto ed Eleazaro sacerdote, nelle pianure di Moab, lungo il Giordano, di contro a Gerico, riferirono a quelli che avevano	3 So Moses and the priest Eleazar took a census of them on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan byJericho. They counted
4 vent'anni e più il comando del Signore; e questo è il loro numero.	4 (as Yahweh had ordered Moses and the Israelites after leaving Egypt) men of twenty years and over:
5 Ruben fu il primogenito di Israele. Furono suoi figli: Henoc, dal quale venne la famiglia degli Henochiti; Fallu, da cui la famiglia de' Falluiti;	5 Reuben, the first-born of Israel. The sons of Reuben: for Hanoch, the Hanochite clan; for Pal u, thePal uite clan;
6 Hesron, da cui la famiglia degli Hesroniti; e Carmi, dal quale la famiglia dei Carmiti.	6 for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Carmi, the Carmite clan.
7 Son queste le famiglie della tribù di Ruben, nelle quali furono numerati quarantatremila e settecentotrenta uomini.	7 These were the Reubenite clans. They numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men.
8 Figlio di Fallu fu Eliab.	8 The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9 E di Eliab furono figli Namuel, Datan e Abiron; questi due, Datan e Abiron, son quei capi del popolo che insorsero contro Mosè ed Aronne nella sedizione di Core, quando si ribellarono contro il Signore;	9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.
10 allora la terra, aperta la sua bocca, divorò Core, e molti altri morirono quando un fuoco abbruciò i duecentocinquanta. Fu gran miracolo,	10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.
11 che, morendo Core, non perissero i suoi figliuoli.	11 Korah's sons, however, did not perish.
12 Figli di Simeon, e loro discendenze: Namuel, dal quale i Namueliti; Iamin, dal quale gli Iaminiti; Iachin dal quale gli Iachiniti;	12 The sons of Simeon by clans: for Nemuel, the Nemuelite clan; for Jamin, the Jaminite clan; forJachin, the Jachinite clan;
13 Zare, dal quale gli Zareiti; Saul, dal quale i Sauliti.	13 for Zerah, the Zerahite clan; for Shaul, the Shaulite clan.
14 Son queste le famiglie della stirpe di Simeon, che contavano in tutto ventiduemila e duecento uomini.	14 These were the Simeonite clans. They numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred men.
15 Figli di Gad, e loro discendenze: Sefon, dal quale i Sefoniti; Aggi, dal quale gli Aggiti; Suni dal quale i Suniti;	15 The sons of Gad by clans: for Zephon, the Zephonite clan; for Haggi, the Haggite clan; for Shuni, theShunite clan;
16 Ozni, dal quale gli Ozniti; Her, dal quale gli Heriti;	16 for Ozni, the Oznite clan; for Eri, the Erite clan;
17 Arod, dal quale gli Aroditi; Ariel, dal quale gli Arieliti.	17 for Arod, the Arodite clan; for Areli, the Arelite clan.
18 Son queste le famiglie di Gad, che contavano in tutto quarantamila e cinquecento uomini.	18 These were the clans of the sons of Gad. They numbered forty thousand five hundred men.
19 Figli di Giuda furono Her e Onan, che morirono ambedue nella terra di Canaan.	19 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20 Altri figli di Giuda, con le loro discendenze: Sela, dal quale i Selaiti; Fares, dal quale i Faresiti; Zare, dal quale gli Zareiti.	20 The other sons of Judah became clans: for Shelah, the Shelahite clan; for Perez, the Perezzite clan;for Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21 Di poi, figli di Fares: Hesron, dal quale gli Hesroniti; Hamul, dal quale gli Hamuliti.	21 The sons of Perez were: for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22 Queste son le famiglie di Giuda, nelle quali furono in tutto settantaseimila e cinquecento uomini.	22 These were the clans of Judah. They numbered seventy-six thousand five hundred men.
23 Figli d'Issacar, e loro discendenze: Tola, dal quale i Tolaiti; Fua, dal quale i Fuaiti;	23 The sons of Issachar by clans: for Tola, the Tolaite clan; for Puvah, the Puvahite clan;
24 Iasub, dal quale gli Iasubiti; Semran, dal quale i Semraniti.	24 for Jashub, the Jashubite clan; for Shimron, the Shimronite clan.
25 Queste son le discendenze da Issacar, nelle quali furono numerati sessantaquattromila e trecento uomini.	25 These were the clans of Issachar. They numbered sixty-four thousand three hundred men.
26 Figli di Zabulon, e loro discendenze: Sared, dal quale i Sarediti; Elon, dal quale gli Eloniti; Ialel, dal quale gli Ialeliti.	26 The sons of Zebulun by clans: for Sered, the Seredite clan; for Elon, the Elonite clan; for Jahleel, theJahleelite clan.
27 Son queste le discendenze di Zabulon, nelle quali furon contati sessantamila e cinquecento uomini.	27 These were the clans of Zebulun. They numbered sixty thousand five hundred men.
28 Figli di Giuseppe e loro discendenze: Manasse ed Efraim.	28 The sons of Joseph by clans: Manasseh and Ephraim.
29 Da Manasse nacque Machir, dal quale i Machiriti; Machir generò Galaad, dal quale i Galaaditi;	29 The sons of Manasseh: for Machir, the Machirite clan; Machir fathered Gilead: for Gilead, theGileadite clan.
30 Galaad ebbe per figli: Iezer, dal quale gli Iezeriti; Helec, dal quale gli Heleciti;	30 These were the sons of Gilead: for Iezer, the Iezerite clan; for Helek, the Helekite clan;
31 Asriel dal quale gli Asrieliti; Sechem, dal quale i Sechemiti;	31 Asriel, the Asrielite clan; Shechem, the Shechemite clan;
32 Semida, dal quale i Semidaiti; ed Hefer, dal quale gli Heferiti.	32 Shemida, the Shemidaite clan; Hepher, the Hepherite clan.
33 Hefer poi fu padre di Salfaad, che non ebbe figli ma soltanto figliuole, delle quali i nomi sono: Maala, Noa, Hegla, Melca e Tersa.	33 Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, only daughters; the names of Zelophehad's daughterswere Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.
34 Son queste le famiglie di Manasse, nelle quali furon numerati cinquantaduemila e settecento uomini.	34 These were the clans of Manasseh. They numbered fifty-two thousand seven hundred men.
35 I figli poi di Efraim, e le loro discendenze furono: Sutala, dal quale i Sutalaiti; Becher, dal quale i Becheriti; Teen, dal quale i Teeniti.	35 These were the sons of Ephraim by clans: for Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; for Becher, theBecherite clan; for Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36 Figlio poi di Sutala fu Heran, dal quale gli Heraniti.	36 These were the sons of Shuthelah: for Eran, the Eranite clan.
37 Queste sono le discendenze de' figliuoli d'Efraim nelle quali furon contati uomini trentaduemila e cinquecento.	37 These were the clans of Ephraim. They numbered thirty-two thousand five hundred men. Thesewere the sons of Joseph by clans.
38 Questi sono i figli di Giuseppe, secondo le loro discendenze. Figli di Beniamino, e loro discendenze: Bela, dal quale i Belaiti; Asbel, dal quale gli Asbeliti; Airam, dal quale gli Airamiti;	38 The sons of Benjamin by clans: for Bela, the Belaite clan; for Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; for Ahiram,the Ahiramite clan;
39 Sufam, dal quale i Sufamiti; Hufam, dal quale gli Hufamiti.	39 for Shephupham, the Shephuphamite clan; for Hupham, the Huphamite clan.
40 Figli poi di Bela: Hered e Noeman; da Hered la famiglia degli Herediti; da Noeman quella dei Noemaniti.	40 Bela's sons were Ard and Naaman; for Ard, the Ardite clan; for Naaman, the Naamanite clan.
41 Questi sono i figli di Beniamino, e le loro discendenze; il numero dei loro uomini fu di quarantacinquemila e seicento.	41 These were the sons of Benjamin by clans. They numbered forty-five thousand six hundred men.
42 Figli di Dan, e loro discendenze: Suam, dal quale la famiglia de' Suamiti. Son queste [sole] le discendenze di Dan per famiglie;	42 These were the sons of Dan by clans: for Shuham, the Shuhamite clan. These were the sons of Danby clans.
43 furon tutti Suamiti, e dettero di numero sessantaquattromila e quattrocento uomini.	43 All the Shuhamite clans numbered sixty-four thousand four hundred men.
44 Figli d'Aser, e loro discendenze: Iemna, dal quale gli Emnaiti; Jessui, dal quale gli Jessuiti; Brie, dal quale i Brieiti.	44 The sons of Asher by clans: for Imnah, the Imnahite clan; for Ishvi, the Ishvihite clan; for Beriah, theBeriahite clan.
45 Figli di Brie: Heber, dal quale gli Heberiti; Melchiel, dal quale i Melchieliti.	45 For the sons of Beriah: for Heber, the Heberite clan; for Malchiel, the Malchielite clan.
46 Aser poi ebbe una figlia, di nome Sara.	46 The daughter of Asher was called Serah.
47 Son queste le discendenze dei figli d'Aser, ed il loro numero fu di cinquantatremila e quattrocento.	47 These were the clans of Asher. They numbered fifty-three thousand four hundred men.
48 Figli di Neftali, e loro discendenze: Iesiel, dal quale gli Iesieliti; Guni, dal quale i Guniti;	48 The sons of Naphtali by clans: for Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan; for Guni, the Gunite clan;
49 Ieser dal quale gli Ieseriti; Sellem, dal quale i Sellemiti.	49 for Jezer, the Jezerite clan; for Shil em, the Shil emite clan.
50 Queste son le discendenze de' figli di Neftali per famiglie; il loro numero fu di quarantacinquemila e quattrocento.	50 These were the clans of Naphtali as divided into clans. The sons of Naphtali numbered forty-fivethousand four hundred men.
51 La somma pertanto de' figli di Israele recensiti, è di seicentunmila e settecentotrenta.	51 Of the Israelites thus numbered, there were six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirtymen.
52 Ed il Signore parlò a Mosè, e disse:	52 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
53 «Tra questi sarà divisa in possesso la terra secondo il numero de' segnati per nome.	53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.
54 Ai più, darai una porzione maggiore; ai meno, una minore. A ciascuna tribù sarà assegnato il territorio secondo che ora sono stati recensiti,	54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.
55 in modo però che la sorte assegni il territorio alle tribù e famiglie.	55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;
56 Quello che per sorte spetterà, lo riceveranno, tanto i molti quanto i pochi».	56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'
57 Questo poi è il numero de' figli di Levi, secondo le loro famiglie: Gerson dal quale la famiglia dei Gersoniti; Caat, dal quale la famiglia dei Caatiti; Merari dal quale quella dei Merariti.	57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 Queste sono le famiglie di Levi: famiglia di Lobni, di Hebron, di Mooli, di Musi, di Core. Caat poi generò Amram,	58 These are the Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan,the Korahite clan. Kohath fathered Amram.
59 che ebbe in moglie Iocabed figlia di Levi natagli in Egitto. Questa al marito suo Amram generò Aronne e Mosè, e Maria loro sorella.	59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.
60 Da Aronne nacquero Nadab, Abiu, Eleazaro ed Itamar;	60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 di questi, Nadab ed Abiu morirono, per aver offerto fuoco profano dinanzi al Signore.	61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.
62 Furono numerati in tutto ventitremila maschi, da un mese in su: non furono computati fra gli altri figli d'Israele, nè fu assegnato loro un territorio come agli altri.	62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.
63 Questo è il numero de' figli di Israele, che furono registrati da Mosè ed Eleazaro sacerdote, nelle pianure di Moab, lungo il Giordano, di contro a Gerico.	63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.
64 Fra loro, non v'era più nessuno di quelli prima numerati da Mosè ed Aronne nel deserto di Sinai.	64 Not one of them was among those whom Moses and the priest Aaron had registered when theycounted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai;
65 Il Signore aveva predetto che sarebbero tutti morti nel deserto, e nessuno di loro sopravvisse, eccetto Caleb figlio di Iefone, e Giosuè figlio di Nun.	65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
